I think they'll be fine. Don't expect them to be a world beating offense like the Moss/Welker days, but they can still be a solid, top 10 offense in the league.
Edelman was a beast last night. Dude was all over the field. Between him and signing Amendola, you can see why they didn't want to overspend for Welker. Amendola was pretty solid last week against Buffalo too, even though he was battling that groin injury. Getting Gronk back, and to a lesser extent Vereen, will be huge.
Give the rookies some time. It's only been a week and a half since they really started practicing as a unit after cutting down from training camp. The Pats run a fairly complex offensive system so it takes a while to pick up (hell, some guys, like Ochocinco, could never figure it out).
Dobson had a case of the drops last night, but I think he'll be alright. He didn't drop a single pass his entire senior season of college last year so I'd chalk that up to first NFL game jitters & the pouring rain and hope he can settle down in the next few games. Not really sure about Thompkins, I haven't seen enough of him yet. There will be some growing pains as there are with all rookies but they're both talented guys.
No kidding. Brady's completion percentage was bad, and while he did have a few over throws, there were a ton of passes right on the hands that the guys dropped.
We know what it's like. Yeah, we had Welker, and a few years ago Moss, but I won't quickly forget the two years between the 04 Superbowl win and bringing in Moss/Welker in 07. Those 05 and 06 season we had guys like Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney, etc. ****, if Caldwell could catch, he would have caught that pass in the end zone late in the 06 AFC CG against Colts, the Pats would have been in that Superbowl against the Bears instead, and Peyton Manning would still be championshipless.
