Keep in mind historically the teams with the best records get to the Super Bowl .

Not saying that happens all the time but it does happen most of the time.

The smart money says due to that it's the Saints or Seahawks, neither of whom would be a surprise to take home the Lombardi Trophy. It would almost be a surprise if somebody other than those two went home victorious. I don't know what happened to the Saints but they got a mojo infusion. The Seahawks, however, had been building up to this in every corner. We do have a good game coming up tomorrow.

I originally thought the Chiefs and Broncos looked similarly invincible but I am not so sure right now. What's with the weak blind side protection of Manning? They have to get that fixed right now.

Saints and Seahawks play Monday Night Football.

I fully expect N.O. to win.

All this hoopla over the suspensions of two more players due to drugs will have an impact on Seattle.

I sincerely hope you are right. Seattle seems to both have the talent and ability to hold it together, unlike any other team in the NFL. This year I have not met anybody more full of themselves than Seahawks fans. They have the record and players to back their claims but it's not remembered long term unless they win the Super Bowl. If they go all the way and win, I will grudgingly tip my hat to them. I may not like them, and certainly fear them, but past all their fans and detractors, they win and it shows on the field. I remember other SB winless teams on the way to the big one and they certainly have the same swagger that other first time winners like the Rams and Bucs had en route to Super Bowl win. More often than not, other than years like the '85 Bears or '93 Cowboys, the best team all year find a way to drop the ball.

My Seattle fan friend, the one who flippantly decided to follow them this year in September, is suddenly not quite as sure if his team will pull off the easy win. Now looking at NO, there looks to be a possibility that the home field advantage may go through New Orleans, and not the overly loud and obnoxious Seattle.

Can't tell what's worse: the field conditions in Houston or the officiating.

Officials just blew a PI call on Harmon (Pats DB). Blew a fair catch interference call and a grounding call earlier. And missed countless holding penalties on both teams.

It's literally like the refs aren't even watching this game.

It's clear the NFL and Godell have it in for the Patriots.

Or the refs are tired of seeing this all the time :

Yeah, that makes total sense seeing as the first blown call and probably most egregious one I pointed out should have been pass interference on the Patriots defensive back.

Houston got screwed by just as many missed calls today... Ask Wade Phillips. He was out on the field screaming for holding calls at least 2 or 3 times. And there was at least half a dozen times Houston's OL could have been called for holding on Jones & Ninkovich.

Tons of holding calls missed on both teams. Hellen Keller could have done a better job reffing today's game. Though I guess if theres that many blown calls for both teams, at least the officiating was consistently bad for both sides?

Or the refs are tired of seeing this all the time :

Because Tom Brady is obviously the first athlete in the history of athletics to raise his voice on the sidelines. How dare he? He should be whispering.

You wanna complain about stuff like that, how about whining about every defensive player on every team acting like just won the lottery every time they tackle a guy or knock down a pass?

I know, just be nice when you beat us! ;)

I don't know if it's the possible run to first Super Bowl which seems increasingly likely, or just an insane team spirit I find in Seahawks fans, but they even put Raiders fans to shame. It probably has something to do with being the loudest stadium in football.

This wouldn't be the first Super Bowl for the Seahawks. They got robbed by the Pittsburg Steelers 21-10 in 2006.

Don't you mean they got beat by the Steelers, homer?:p

The officiating in Super Bowl XL was met with criticism from a few members of the media soon after the game. One call that was complained about was an offensive pass interference on wide receiver Darrell Jackson for a push-off against Steelers safety Chris Hope that nullified his 16-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.[13] Another complaint had to do with a penalty in the fourth quarter against Seattle right tackle Sean Locklear for holding Steelers linebacker Clark Haggans that nullified a deep pass. Also disputed was the penalty on Hasselbeck for an illegal block while making a tackle during Ike Taylor's interception return.[14][15]
Kansas City Star writer Jason Whitlock encapsulated some views when he wrote the day after the game, "Bill Leavy and his crew ruined Super Bowl XL. Am I the only one who would like to hear them defend their incompetence?"[16] Initially, some fans reacted negatively as well. A February 7 online ESPN poll found that, with 103,167 votes cast, 61.7% of those votes were cast for the choice of "officiating mistakes affected the outcome of Super Bowl XL."[17][18] Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren himself took issue with the officiating at a celebration for his team on February 6 at Qwest Field, saying, "We knew it was going to be tough going against the Pittsburgh Steelers. I didn't know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well."[19] Holmgren was not fined for the remarks.
In response to the criticisms leveled at the officials, the NFL, just two days after the game, released a statement defending the officials' performance. "The game was properly officiated, including, as in most NFL games, some tight plays that produced disagreement about the calls made by the officials," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement.[20]
High-profile referee Ed Hochuli said "the league felt, actually, that the Super Bowl was well officiated. Now, that doesn't mean there were no mistakes. There are always mistakes, but it was a well-officiated game." [21]
On August 6, 2010, while visiting the Seahawks' preseason training camp for an annual rules interpretation session with the Seattle media, Leavy brought up Super Bowl XL without being asked, and admitted to having blown calls:[21]
It was a tough thing for me. I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official you never want to do that. It left me with a lot of sleepless nights, and I think about it constantly. I'll go to my grave wishing that I'd been better ... I know that I did my best at that time, but it wasn't good enough ... When we make mistakes, you got to step up and own them. It's something that all officials have to deal with, but unfortunately when you have to deal with it in the Super Bowl it's difficult.[22]

That's all I have to say about that.

initially i gave you +1 but then realized that your source was wikipedia so back to -1.

and all that may be true but i need a more reliable source.

but yeah, the refs cocked that game, SB XL, up for sure. ;)

I should have clarified and said first Super Bowl win, but right now the NFC side of the season appears to be yours to lose. Tonight will say a lot and if you beat NO then it will be said you are in the driver's seat for the whole NFL. You may very well be the best right now, but let's see how you handle the Saints.

I don't currently see anyone in the AFC within spitting distance of you so tonight's game is the key.

I would say Bronco's at this point are the only real viable threat to the NFC.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Bridgewater bowl. No way Texans win any of their last three games. This next game essentially determines the first pick.

I would love to see Manning and Broncos spank the Seahawks in Super Bowl but if I had to put money on it, the Seahawks would rip them apart by easily two touchdowns.

If the Seahawks can do half of what to they do to Kap of the Niners to Peyton Manning, then it won't be pretty. Manning and the Broncos may have stepped up against KC, but they showed they can stink, too as they did in second half in game against NE handing the Patriots their best come from behind victory in a long time, maybe ever.

I think the NFC has to worry about the Patriots, too but overall the giants in the NFL this year are the Seahawks and Saints. The best way to the SB is to be dominant all the way around. Tonight will be, or should be, a tough fight and close game between the two best teams in football.
