We need a new level of bad in which to put the Cowboys defense.

What would burn me up, and the NFC East is notorious for this with their sleeper cell type teams, is if Dallas gets the wild card because they had just enough wins with the victory over Oakland which should have never happened imho, does well in playoffs, and wins the Super Bowl. While I am not a fan of the Eagles, I hope they prevail in their narrow NFC East lead and Dallas falls out of wild card contention. With three weeks left, anything can happen and a lot of key teams who are in the postseason every year won't make it this time around.

What is dangerous about Dallas is that even though they bungle games a lot, they have always had talent. Staubach and Aikman were not exactly highly rated quarterbacks (mid-70s to mid-80s) and they took their team to five SB victories and maximized what completions they had. When they had bad passing games, they always had a reliable third down running back. Dallas has gone all the way with great defenses but also not so great ones, too. There's a certain bit of cockiness that Dallas has that nobody else has, year after year, decade after decade, and I will say for a team that has a lot of fans outside of Dallas, they are America's team. Maybe Green Bay comes close to many out of state fans. You can always see this in the audience of away games and see what the fans are wearing.

Really a new level. Come on now, there have been plenty worse this year. Good lord, one game that they loose by 17. Come on now. Did they get outplayed sure. I know there are a lot of Dallas haters here, but this was not the worst.

Actually yeah man they have been the worst. They gave up 400+ yards in something like 3 back to back games.

they are 1,494 yards away from giving up the most yards as a defense ever. they will break the saints record if they give up that much over the next 3 games..... They probably wont break the record but the fact that they are that close tells you something.

Dallas just fell off the playoff picture from being in the wild card round to being in the hunt. Philly is now unexpectedly in that spot. I don't see anybody challenging to top four spots in the NFL (Broncos, Pats, Seahawks, Saints) from now until the end of the season and they will get the much needed bye in what is turning out to be an exceptionally cold December.

nope. Actually they're potentially all time bad. This is the second time this season the Cowboys have allowed an opponent to not punt the football. They're only 200 yards behind last years Saints for yards against pace. It's hard to overstate how bad this Cowboys defense is.

TBF, the other game was against the Broncos, a very high-scoring game that they managed to just eke a loss out of. Shows that Denver has a questionable D (Orange Slush), and as we all know, D is what wins games.

Hope might not matter, Dallas hosts Philadelphia in week 17. From what I can tell, the Cowboys have hope on IR.

1. Either he admits that the Bears aren't that good or...
2... He hasn't seen the Raiders play at all this season...

1. No, the bears put on a good show. I said it before, there would be "controversy" if you will on who will be the QB for the Bears. Granted Cutler is injured, but, they still put on a good show and came out and played. But then again, they have the same record as Dallas. :D
2. Raiders, suck, plain and simple. Even if they were in first place, I would still make that comment! :D I will still standby what I said earlier. I don't care if it is the last place team, a "W" is a "W". I am sure when the Bucs and Jag's were 0-8, the team that didn't take them seriously fell to them. And what do you know, both teams now have wins.

So :p

It's certainly been a rough year. I only wish those boys representing Oakland in football uniforms could even be within spitting distance of those boys in Oakland who represented my region in baseball.

I think there's hope in using the young QB who can grow into the position if he stays. I don't want to simply harden a player only to trade him off to a team he blossoms in. Remember when we got washed out guys like Plunkett, Rice, and Lott and actually did something with them?

Going old school with names like Plunkett! I still remember hearing about Lott losing a finger and saying, yeah keep it off, I don't want to be out that long lol!

Most underrated in nfl history too.

Kenny "The Snake" Stabler wasn't too shabby either.

I used to think the Raiders were the dirtiest, nastiest team in the league – then someone posted this bit of footage from last Sunday's Dolphins/Steelers game

NFL players need no healthcare, they can get their prostate exams right there on the field.

Dirty happens and check out move at 2:55 on this video. Do you want to complete the play and let nothing distract you, or pull up your pants on national TV?

That type of move was legal in original Greek wrestling, so heck why not the NFL? But if it's deemed a penalty, it should be on whether it was a grab of the long piece, the pair just beneath, a combo grab, or just a grab of the skin on the sack.:D

Oh wait, there's just the long piece since steroids pretty much make the other parts shrink down to nothing!

Illegal use of the hands to say the least! Someone should have been wearing a cup! doh!

he he he..
yeah, the Raiders definitely used to be one of, if not the most, dirtiest....

I think we were like most teams but because we wore black and were in an industrial city like Oakland, we were targeted. When a team like the Patriots or Buccaneers did a cheap shot, it was forgotten, but when the Raiders did something, then people said they expected it. We were called a lot of things which were not necessarily true. We played a balanced game under coach Madden but were known as a team who got "lucky" by a few long passes here and there.

Contrary to Raiders image of bums who sat out most of the game but instead going out and fouling other players and still winning because of some Hail Mary, QB Stabler was actually not a long passer. We played a clean, methodical game and fought fairly as much as anybody out there. During the 1980s if you wanted to find a brutal defense hurting other players it was more likely from my other team, the 49ers. San Francisco as a city was more refined than Oakland but the Niners were as black and blue as any team from the black and blue divisions. We were always remembered for Joe Montana and Jerry Rice but the other part of the Niners in that great decade were a smash mouth, combative defense that took no prisoners. We swarmed over many offenses like a horde of angry red ants.
