Looks like Tony Romo had season ending surgery this morning.

Espn story

I hate the cowboys but I do feel bad for him, I don't want to see any player hurt.

His ego has been hurt for years now, I think he is used to it.:p

i think they are rushing him too.. but Flynn isn't going to get it done is he? and I like Flynn.

Yeah, the Packets are rolling the dice on this one. I'm not sure it is a good idea either.
Do the Packers have a better chance with a healthy Flynn or a beat up Rodgers. Does Rodgers in the game actually help the Bears.

Do we know if Rodgers is 100%. I don't expect to see him play a vintage game. They might have been better to rest him and roll the dice.

Rest him for what, offseason golfing?

Rodgers is an elite quarterback in this league. He's better than all but a handful of guys even when he's not 100%. You gotta give your team the best chance to win the game.

Who the **** is Flynn anyways?

So you are willing to throw your franchise QB out there and have him risk a greater injury that could end his career? Vs Rest him the remainder of the season (you most likely won't beat the Seahawks anyways) and have him ready to go full strength next year.

He has not played a game in over 6 weeks, and you think he is game ready?

Agreed. At this point I don't think I would risk him.

Rest him for next year? When there's a 6 month offseason coming up?

He's just as likely to get hurt in the season opener next year as he would be to get injured playing this week. Football players are there to play football, if he's medically cleared to go, you put the best players on the field.

I agree IF he's ready to go play. It's not worth it to get a career ending injury if he's only halfway there. But I trust the docs at Green Bay to get it right and not jeopardize what is perhaps the best QB in the history of the NFL (in QB rating*) and the best chance for years to come to have Green Bay be a winner. They got used to Favre (with most yards and TDs) winning a lot and then Rodgers (not shabby for the years he has been there on big numbers) and the team won't blow it all for one game in a rather mediocre season.

If Rodgers is hurt and can be at greater risk for serious injury then shame on the team. But if he's 100% percent then let him go out and do what he's paid to do.

I think it's important Rodgers plays. He's been out 6 weeks for a 3-4 week typically injury. He should get some snaps especially if they are somehow able to pull this game off and make the playoffs (the Bears aren't very good right now either). It will also be a huge inspirational boost for the rest of the team to have their captain back out on the field. Honestly right now I'm more concerned about Lacey and Matthews not playing so having Arodge back as a on-field leader will be a huge boost. Here's hoping he pulls a Manning and proves all the doubters wrong.

If he's still hurt and at a greater risk for re-injury, the doctors wouldn't clear him to play.

So like I said, if he's medically cleared by the doctors, you play him. Never understood why some fans want teams to be "cautious" when bringing players back because they're afraid of them getting hurt again. That's why the teams have doctors to make these decisions. You're either medically cleared to play or you aren't..

Excuse me - he's the man who's going to ban your butt :p

Seriously, he did ok, though he made some really bad mistakes.

hahahaha.

You're right though. He's not a bad player. But he's no Aaron Rodgers.

Agreed.

I hope he does well and has no injuries. I guess in the past, but probably related more to concussions, some players went ahead when they shouldn't have. Even when hamstrung, Rodgers is one scary good QB.

Ok Seattle. Today is your big day. Win and you play at home. Lose and you don't.

[edit]

Number one seed. The road to the Super Bowl goes through Seattle for the NFC.

A couple of weeks ago that was a scary thought for all teams. Until AZ beat them at home now its not such a daunting task. It kind of lost the mystique.

Wow, what a horrific day to be a steelers fan. Dolphins lose, Ravens lose, Pittsburgh wins, KC looks to be handling the chargers, right up to the very end. Impossible hopes playing out in the steelers favor, until KC blows the last minute FG and loses in OT. What a huge, huge disappointment.

thank you for your tasty tears, rusttown

Niners did OK but we would have loved to have seen Seattle lose, just saying.

It's the Seahawks postseason to lose.

I can't believe the Packers made the playoffs. Although I wholeheartedly don't expect to beat SF in GB I would be thrilled if they could pull off the upset, especially without Clay Matthews playing. That's all I ask for lol

Yeah, I don't see the Packers beating the 49ers, but congratulations on making the playoffs.

Any guesses on who gets fired today and the next few days?

My list
Texans Kubiak (Already occurred)
Browns Chudzinski (already occurred and is surprising being only 1 year in)
Redskins Shanahan
Giants Coughlin (I say he "retires")
Lions Schwartz
Vikings Frazier
Buccaneers Schiano (this is a tough one, they played hard for him but I don't think he's a good NFL coach and they're judged on results which his are poor)

There's a couple on the hot seat that may or may not go like
Titans Munchak
Dolphins Philbin (this surprised me on that the owner is going to evaluate his status)
Cowboys - Garrett (Why is he still there, aweful performance in December for 3 years running).
