I think I might be wrong about Mourinho being worried about AVB. Some people have the theory that they could be trying to scupper other deals. If RM sign Bale it looks as if they'll unload a few. Some links were Benzema/Di Maria to Arsenal and Ozil to United. They might be trying to make it so that if Bale goes to RM then it'll be too late for Arsenal and United. Could also be personal reasons. Reporting them over poaching Arnesen and refusing to sell them Modric. Hmmm I think this could be more likely than Mourinho being worried.

Mignolet looked very sharp today, I'm feeling better about Reina's replacement with every match. Sturridge once again comes through, this time with a Suarez-esque finish from an extremely tight angle. Iago Aspas was shouty and angry all match but I didn't see too much out of him in terms of play - though he was unfairly called offside once.

I like the midfield trio of Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson - all three are pretty good on the ball but provide a strong physical presence. Henderson seems to be bedding in a bit though I doubt he'll ever be a star.

Another good win for Liverpool but I have a sneaking suspicion that the party will end once we face one of the top 4 +1. The side has quality but is not a Champions League team.

Good win for Arsenal and Giroud on the scoresheet again.

It's the way they did it. If they wanted him they could have signed him a week ago. Instead they let him have a medical and some say he was at Tottenham's HQ ready to sign. His agent is Kia Joorabchian. He was probably in contact with Chelsea the whole time and always had the intention of stopping Willian from signing.

Well, I guess if you're going after a player and Kia Joorabchian is involved, you only have yourself to blame when things get fishy. That guy is a crook, pure and simple. :(

We defended brilliantly, I honestly forgot we only had ten men for much of the match.

Much anti-'Hull City Tigers' feeling in the ground - chants outlining where the owners could shove their new name, stickers plastered everywhere... strangely enough, the scoreboard featured the doctored crest during the first half but after complaints on Twitter it was changed for the proper crest at half time.

Well done Hull City! That is a long time to play with 10 v 11. Definitely a confidence-bosting match for the boys in black & amber.

It seems to be Jaffa Cake's week.:)

Hull win against Norwich.:)

Well in the Netherlands PEC Zwolle are leaders of the Eredivisie till at least this Friday.:D

With both Ajax and PSV drawing their games and PEC winning against SC Cambuur, PEC lead the table leader.

Friday sc Heerenveen 3 Ajax 3 meant that Ajax couldn't chase down PSV. Ajax gave this match away, with some terrible blunders in the mid field were they normally dominate. Heerenveen also took their chances were as Ajax didn't.
Then on Saturday evening Heracles Almelo 1 PSV 1, PSV were very lucky to even get a draw, PSV manager had gambled on sending many second string players, out as PSV play AC Milan mid week. But everybody agreed only one team turned up to play football and it was not PSV.

In the late night match PEC 2 sc Cambuur 0, the match was as onesided as the score line shows.

FC Twente play today but cannot displace PEC in the table.

THE MASSIVE SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY DREW 2-2 and are sitting 20th with 2 points...
DUMBARTON WINS FC 3-1 and are sat midtable at 7th with 4 points
ATHLETIC CLUB WINS 2 NIL and are at the the top of the table..

all three teams are starting the season better than they did last year... ;)

So Hertha with its best start in history. Won 1:0, high five! :)

Mignolet had some great saves. Liverpool's D is stingy but I agree that once they play a top team, they won't be able to keep some of those shots outta the net at this point. Sturridge finished that ball nicely, but the pass was a bit lucky to find its way thru. They've gotten the wins so far, but I don't think they are playing to their strengths just yet. Gotta be happy with that though. 6 points is 6 points.

Arsenal finally found the goal too. Cazorla looks to be playing back a bit so far this year. I guess if others are finishing, there's not much of a reason to push forward. Walcott's seems frustrated he hasn't scored yet but I think he's just been unlucky. He's had some great chances. Offensively, they're stacked. But that D is capable of a let down at anytime.

I hope the Spurs put up a few today. Maybe the 5 they scored midweek will carry over. They look to be such a different team than last year. Early successes could really fuel their confidence.

If I had known who his agent was sooner I would have expected us to lose him. I think it will be better though. We don't have to deal with him for a new contract or him trying to force a move each summer.

Finally the pressure is off Ronald Koeman.

Feyenoord win at last beating NAC. Not only did they win but they won with style, a hat trick from Graziano Pellè.

Cox Orange, Mainz: 3 games - 3 wins. What are they up to? Cheers! :)
Hehe, hopefully more then towards the end of last season. I do not trust this beginning, yet... ;) *fingers-crossed*

I remember in the middle of last season Tuchel was invited to ZDF's sportstudio and he was asked, if Champions League comes next (and I guess he was even asked, if he would take Löws seat, because his team likes him so much. Stupid! - Well, one can understand that ZDF gets enthusiastic about Mainz, given their location ;)) and then a few games later they went down the table match after match (with Tuchel complaining the Refs had been unfair, which was only right in few cases).

I didn't get to watch all of Tottenham v Swansea today, but what I did see was pretty unmpressive Offense. Spurs haven't scored a goal without a PK yet. Strange they score 5 during the mid week then nothing on either end. Again, I'll take the 2 wins, but the lack of goals is a bit worrisome.

yeah winning is good. they are going to hit some of the top teams soon and we'll soon see a true test of their mettle.

and let me add ... CARDIFF CITY!

When will Wayne and Robin be friends again? :(
Oh, and once more an abysmal referee.

Nailed it.

It was nice to see United pressing the ball more than they have in the past, but there were no ideas and no execution in the final third. The creativity of a Kagawa or an on-form Nani were sorely lacking.

Pretty funny to see Mourinho send out a starting XI with no strikers. A message to you, Rooney?

Abandoned the match at half-time cause i was actually starting to nap. Looks like it was the same story in the second half.

Welbeck and Valencia didn't belong on the pitch. Rooney made a great case for himself. I continue to be baffled as to why Kagawa has been warming United's bench. I hope they don't ruin the poor lad's career.

Its actually quite funny, United's lack of a creative in midfield and Chelsea's toothless attack were highlights of the match.

I'm probably showing my age here but I remember there was a time when it was possible to watch a football match without there being ridiculous subplots attached to it.

I watched the Sky feed and it was hilarious to hear their media personalities breathlessly trying to hype a match that was an epic bore. The harder they tried, the more boring it seemed...

Neither team seemed willing or able to really press the other in a sustained way. I got the feeling that both managers were happy not to lose more than anything.
