I'm hearing a lot of hot air from pundits about how Liverpool fans have "short memories" and that "all is forgiven" with Suarez. There are idiots everywhere, but I think it's unfair to label all Liverpool fans as capricious morons who forget everything when a player scores.
Unfortunately, the reality is that football (at the top professional and international levels) is a corrupt global business cartel, not a parochial amateur sport. Suarez is a hothead who makes some very foolish decisions on the pitch from time to time, but his villainy is usually judged in a false, isolated context (which isn't say I to defend his actions at all).
Placed within the context of a corrupt FIFA, tycoon absentee owners, big money TV deals, sponsorship, and blood-sucking agents I fail to see how one should be particularly called on the carpet for having one Luis Suarez on one's roster. Football is a dirty business, and we're all guilty to some extent. Ok, rant over.
RE: the Liverpool - Sunderland match, I think it would have been easier for Sturridge to score with his head. Good result, but I didn't learn much from this game going forward. Coutinho continues to be missed but Suarez's return balances that somewhat. Too bad Altidore failed to net.
Dallas 2-4 Columbus
A good win for the Crew. But a very sloppy game. I felt that Columbus played at a very slow tempo and gave the ball away too often. Some elementary defensive errors - one of Dallas' goals came while half our team argued over an out-of-bounds no-call. Nevertheless, we were good enough to beat our opponents by a clear margin. Our playoff hopes are still (barely) alive.
Jaffa, I like what I'm seeing from Hull City fans. Here's hoping Allam eventually takes the message on board, though he doesn't sound like the type who backs away from his own position readily.
