At every turn, the prospect of the Qatar World Cup seems to worsen.

Even aside from practical concerns over playing and simply getting around the country during the summer months, there's a lot that's very, very wrong about staging the tournament there. I fear even more unpleasantness is going to come out as time goes on.

But still, those Qatari's are very rich aren't they?

Anyway, on a more positive note - Sheffield Wednesday have taken one of our players on loan, striker Matty Fryatt. He'd been out for quite a while with an achilles injury and is really in desperate need of games and goals. At his best he's a proven Championship goalscorer so hopefully he can get going again.

i have the some worries about 2022 WC.

Hope Matty is match fit. We need some goals, now!

ATHLETIC BILBAO are having a great start, quietly up to 5th with 4 wins/12 points !!

...

I'd like to see United do a buy-and-loan-back for Luke Shaw, or a loan-with-option-to-buy for Fabio Coentrao. Sorted.
...

Isn't Shaw a Chelsea fan? Try to fill TBLBITW's boots?

Coentrao; probably my memory, I can't remember seeing him play well - the first half hour v Northern Ireland was .

Shame on you, FIFA - For an organization characterized by corruption, greed and incompetence this affair reaches new lows in all of those areas. It's simply rotten.

...

Yeah, but on the other hand FIFA 14 is out. Go PES!

2020mike; we won't be agreeing - I'll take Evra for the first third of the pitch, different styles for the second, and for the final third, Baines crossing for Evra to head in.:)

Cheers,

Torres red: a classic case of a ref trying to make up for one bad decision with another bad decision. Torres probably deserved to go on balance, but the actual calls make no sense on their own.

Chelsea get to finish the game playing anti-football - Mou's preferred habitat.

I'm not convinced by Mou yet but we shall see.

Oh dear United/Ferdinand.

Oh dear City

No joy in Manchester today. West Brom have a reputation for getting opposition managers sacked - Moyes needs to be careful. ;)

Fourth place is really up for grabs his season, and Arsenal have a realistic shot at the title, though I think they lack the depth. Liverpool need to take advantage of things with a win tomorrow.

Well done Hull City! Jaffa, I was a fool not to swap out Koren for Brady. I was scared away by the yellow injury label, but now he's gone and scored again.

3 losses, 3 poor team line ups by Moyes; for the BS selection today he added arrogance - it's only WBA, no need for the best team and a fast start. Seen Ferguson do it, but the players knew he'd get more right in the long run, that is why today was important for Moyes, they don't know with him.

On the bright side, I didn't bench Brady this week. :D

Cheers,

One positive at the KC today – besides the win of course – was that the 'No To Hull Tigers' campaign has properly taken off.

A number of supporters groups have come together to present a unified front and they've done a cracking job. This afternoon 10,000 leaflets and 3,000 badges were given out by volunteers before the match, a fantastic effort by all involved.

I hope that this works.:)

News from across the water.

What a difference a week makes in football.

Ajax put six in against GAE, last weekend pounded by PSV and this weekend, played like a champions team.

AZ burst PSV's ballon with a defeat of two to one, AZ started the match in a high tempo, and PSV were put on the back foot, from which they never recovered.

PEC Zwolle couldn't profit from the loss of PSV, PEC dominated the first half against NAC but couldn't score the second half was more balanced, but still no score.

PEC slip to number three.

Eredivisie
1.PSV
2.Ajax
3.PEC Zwolle

The first match with HawkEye FC Utrecht vs JC Roda was a three all draw, but no requirement for the technology.:)

Another Manager lost his job.

Just in colour me surprised.

AZ beat PSV yesterday then this, just be on the news. There playing is not the problem they are fourth in the table and playing in Europe League.

AZ dismiss their manager Gertjan Verbeek, I have heard since there were problems with members of the players and directors on a personal level.

Here's you, me, and most of all Dave Jones hoping so!!

Presuming DJ values his job of course

I'm hearing a lot of hot air from pundits about how Liverpool fans have "short memories" and that "all is forgiven" with Suarez. There are idiots everywhere, but I think it's unfair to label all Liverpool fans as capricious morons who forget everything when a player scores.

Unfortunately, the reality is that football (at the top professional and international levels) is a corrupt global business cartel, not a parochial amateur sport. Suarez is a hothead who makes some very foolish decisions on the pitch from time to time, but his villainy is usually judged in a false, isolated context (which isn't say I to defend his actions at all). Placed within the context of a corrupt FIFA, tycoon absentee owners, big money TV deals, sponsorship, and blood-sucking agents I fail to see how one should be particularly called on the carpet for having one Luis Suarez on one's roster. Football is a dirty business, and we're all guilty to some extent. Ok, rant over. ;)

RE: the Liverpool - Sunderland match, I think it would have been easier for Sturridge to score with his head. Good result, but I didn't learn much from this game going forward. Coutinho continues to be missed but Suarez's return balances that somewhat. Too bad Altidore failed to net.

Dallas 2-4 Columbus

A good win for the Crew. But a very sloppy game. I felt that Columbus played at a very slow tempo and gave the ball away too often. Some elementary defensive errors - one of Dallas' goals came while half our team argued over an out-of-bounds no-call. Nevertheless, we were good enough to beat our opponents by a clear margin. Our playoff hopes are still (barely) alive.

Jaffa, I like what I'm seeing from Hull City fans. Here's hoping Allam eventually takes the message on board, though he doesn't sound like the type who backs away from his own position readily.

Newcastle only have 1 Defender and that is Coloccini and even he is a shadow of himself. The rest (especially M'Biwa) might as well not have showed up. Ben Arfa is inconsistent. Cisse has forgotten who he is.

That first half was just dreadful. We played much better in the second, but you're right about the defense. Just terrible!

Lord Blackadder, you knew that former Simply Red guitarist Sylvan Richardson is a masseur at Liverpool FC?

-

Sturridge and Lukaku saved my butt Fantasy wise.

Other news; Hull City's - and many a fantasy team's - Brady is having his hernia op today; 4 weeks including the break for Internationals. :(
He looked absolutely shot when he was substituted on Saturday, it was clear he was in a lot of discomfort. At least the international break will absorb some of the time he'll be out.

It's come out this afternoon that Allam approached the City Till We Die committee (the newly formed group organising the No To Hull Tigers campaign) last night to offer to meet with them. Hopefully he's prepared to listen to supporters on this matter, but he's famously stubborn so we'll see what happens - let's hope this is a positive development though.
