I think Can does well in a holding midfield role. If Klopp does go for for a five man midfield I suspect Sturridge will start and Benteke will be on the bench.

Despite all the money spent, Liverpool don't really have a fourth-place challenging squad unless everyone over-performs. I'm sure Klopp will expect to be given a transfer war chest next summer.

GGMU.

Honestly, I am quite mixed about this game. United's record at Everton for the past few years has been pretty bad, and we just lost heavily to Arsenal as well. Our poor starts to a game is a recurring problem, but Arsenal just started so quickly that the result became impossible to overturn.

One thing I am positive about is that United almost always bounce straight back after defeats (expect for that terrible 3-match losing run towards the end of the season). I will honestly be satisfied with a draw, but a win is also achievable.

We will see after the game.

definitely need to figure out in Man U is Man U or not.

Some crazy results so far this season for all the top flight clubs.

Boring day really - big teams won, smaller teams lost.

Liverpool worked very hard for Klopp, but its going to take months for any changes to start having an impact.

If they couldn't beat the current Villa at home, then even i would start wondering how much longer Jose had left.

Went to see NE Revolution vs Montreal Impact at Gilette Stadium this evening.

What a weird vibe in the stadium. It was frigidly cold and so quiet despite the record setting crowd.

Drogba was just everywhere, and Geiger made some weird calls.

Disappointing loss, at this point we will probably just squeak into the playoffs beating Orlando on goal differerence.

Congrats to Blackadder's Crew for clinching their playoff spot!

Usually Columbus stumble into the playoffs, so getting an away win was something of a change of pace. The ref completely lost control, issuing too many yellow cards in the second half. Kamara and Higuain are now suspended for our last regular season match.

Federico Higuain's chipped goal against Toronto made the Guardian's goals of the week page.

A big game coming up for Columbus...New York Energy Drinks have clinched first place in the Eastern conference, and DC United are in second place. Columbus is just one point behind DC, and the two side play each other in Columbus this weekend. Teams finishing 3rd through 6th are drawn against each other in a single game playoffs to advance to the quarterfinals, while teams finishing 1st and 2nd go straight to the quarterfinals.

So if Columbus win this weekend they are into the quarterfinals. DC exists solely to crush our hopes, and given that our two best players (Higuain and Kamara) are suspended for this match, and DC are in good form, I suspect we'll go down in a 2 goal loss, say 3-1. I know, I'm a pessimist.

I'd love nothing better than to see DC lose, mind you. But Columbus has done nothing in the playoffs since we won the league in '08.

i'm not sure about that .. i think 1-2 squad additions could make a great impact especially an excellent defensive midfielder and perhaps a central defender. On the attack i think Liverpool has enough options. Perhaps even too many (centre forward)
In what formation did Klopp play in the game ?

on the other side looking forward to todays arsenal -bayern game.. some english news site are quite optimistic and cite Sanchez's and Özil's good form but looking at how many goals Lewandowski and Müller scored within the last month (20 ?) i wouldn't want to bet any money on either side.
I'm not sure if Arsenal can keep Costa at bay ... if Wenger decides to field Mertesacker it could get turn bad quite fast.

Bayern are going to smash Arsenal. Though, Wenger's boys can beat anybody on a good day. But over the course of two matches, and with Lewandowski on fire...at least Wenger had the sense to start Cech for this match.

No result would surprise me, but Bayern are heavy favorites.

In what formation did Klopp play in the game ?

4-3-2-1. Origi up top, supported by Coutinho and Lallana. Milner and Can further back in the middle, with Lucas central behind them, protecting the back four. Coutinho, Can, Milner and Lallana were tasked with a LOT of running, pressing Spurs as much as possible and moving fluidly between the flanks or center as needed. It's going to take some time for them to become experienced at this, but early signs are that they should be able to learn it.

Skrtel is going through one of his rough patches and Liverpool really don't have a consistent, star defender to anchor the back. Nor is Mignolet as commanding a figure as, say, a Cech/Courtois/Lloris etc.
