A very dull match in Manchester. Aguero and Silva would surely have made a huge difference.

With Man Utd failing to impress, Chelsea a burning, drifting wreck and City with key injuries and a squad that is still less than the sum of their parts, could this actually be Arsenal's year??? Can Klopp take advantage and sneak Liverpool into the Champions League?

Dunno what Klopp sees in Origi personally. He is useless with the ball and its blunting LFC's attacks. If Benteke is on the bench he surely must be fit enough to play.

After Liverpool scored I thought "now, under Rogers this would end 1-1 because Liverpool always concede." Sadly, in the short term at least, nothing has changed.

For all its shortcomings, Liverpool's attack is not the problem. The defense is weak and mistake-prone. Klopp did manage a couple clean sheets, but today the defense let Liverpool down again and an opportunity for a win was lost.

Lots of twitter abuse over this but I think it's overblown.

Origi looked lost today - but he's only 20 and looked promising at the 2014 World Cup. I'm guessing Klopp didn't think Benteke was fully match fit and preferred to bring him on later to batter a tired defense - and it worked. He was used that way to great effect in Brazil '14 (knocking USA out, for instance.:( )

If the defense did its job this would have been a win.

Kamara and Higuain are now suspended for our last regular season match.

And yet it didn't matter. Columbus earns second place beautifully. My Revs also didn't stumble in claiming their place.

Toronto gets to face Montreal again in the midweek game. That will be fun at Saputo if Drogba can play.

EDIT: Rooting for SKC in the West games.

Enjoyed this morning's Bundesliga games far more than the slow Manchester derby.

Columbus 5-0 DC

What a game. Columbus absolutely slaughtered DC, with our new signings all contributing. This is the first time Columbus have shown good form heading into the playoffs since 2008, the year we won the league.

The playoffs could prove to be very interesting, I think there are quite a few contenders this season.

Regarding the match, as a MU fan I am satisfied with one point against the title favorites, plus we completely outplayed them. If anything this game only strengthened our credentials as title challengers. Rooney's continued inclusion in the team is very questionable but other than that there are not many major issues right now.

Also, I still don't see Arsenal winning the league come the end of the season, because they always mess up at some point and finish the season in 3rd or 4th under Wenger :D At this moment I am backing Spurs to finish in the Top 4 this season along with MU, MC, and Arsenal.

THE MASSIVE WEDNESDAY WIN!!!

Joao loses tooth....

And was crying afterwards :(

Still, I'll take the win. I wasn't happy we conceded a late goal though, we just switched off late on

I agree with Jenas:

I think you'd have him in your team, just not necessarily in the No.9 position

Martial cannot win you the league by himself and he's been the only bright spark in your offensive play for some time now

A relatively full strength United still couldn't beat a significantly weakened City at home.

Creativity and incisive offensive play is still notably lacking. The only difference is you guys have tightened up defensively which is why you've been grinding out results.

I'd pick 'Pool for 4th place...i have a feeling Klopp will pull off a surprise. Once Sturbridge and Benteke are fully fit. Spurs ALWAYS bottle it. If anything i'd pick West Ham over them since they've actually repeatedly proven themselves against tough opposition.

That is of course if Chelsea fail to awaken which is still unlikely.

Chelsea aren't going to finish 15th, but they could finish 4th or 5th.

As much as I hate to say it, I still think money wins out. The top four finishers will be the four richest clubs, with Liverpool having an outside chance to take advantage of any big stumble (assuming Klopp gets them back up near the top).

Every season we get excited about a new face in the top four, and every season our hopes come crashing down as financial doping and scaled TV money distribution begins to tell.

Manchester City are always said to be significantly weakened when 1 or 2 are out, yet the experts are always spouting on about them and Chelsea having the best squads.

Agree the current situation with the attack is holding them back. At the moment Europe seems to be Memphis' playground, Young is injured, and Rooney can't cover the faster full backs, so Martial is played wide - not ideal. Luke Shaw is a big miss re the left side of attack, and the overlap on the right needs Valencia to deliver a decent cross on a regular basis or Darmian to become more physical. Mata, Herrera, and Martial are creative; the latter in the centre with the other 2 behind - Rooney dropped, then get the left side back to full strength and the right attack sorted - there are a couple of youngsters plus probably a move for a player in January. Of course, like other clubs, they always keep an eye out for better players - creative included.

Cheers,
OW

Strikers of Aguero's quality are so rare as to be nearly irreplaceable - even for the top clubs. I take your point, and even agree with it, but I would argue that taking the best 2 players out of any premier league team would leave them "significantly weakened," regardless of squad depth. How many teams in the world have the equivalent of 2 Agueros on their roster?

2015/2016's Sergio 'One Game Wonder' Aguero? Besides, Manchester United were playing with 10. :) Silva; I agree he was a loss in attack, but they gained on the defensive side.

Good luck re Columbus Crew - great to have the momentum.

Injury Update:: James Rodriguez will be back on the pitch for Real Madrid on Nov 3 against PSG (Champions match) :)

Momentum is a very valuable but very scarce commodity in MLS, given the level of parity. Winning that match gave Columbus more than momentum though, it reduced the number of games we have to play in the playoffs by one, which is a big deal. We aren't quite good enough to win the league, but I could see Columbus going to the final if they stay hot and get a little luck along the way.

Yeah, not playing the midweek game is huge, especially since these games can go into extra time and PKs.

For us here in New England, we're hoping that the Crew sufficiently demoralized and softened up DC United so that we have a chance to make the semis despite the poor form we were in the last few weeks of the season.

:p

Of course we have to face the Shield carrying Red Bulls if we do make it.

The good news for New England is that Montreal are currently better than NYRB, so that the Revs won't be facing the most dangerous team in the East if they get past DC.

DC were absolutely abysmal against Columbus, New England are struggling a bit but I would still consider them favorites to win at RFK tomorrow.

Just get ready for some big Drogba dives in the playoffs...it would be absolutely hysterical if Toronto knocked them out tomorrow, but Toronto's defense is just too terrible for that to happen.

Seems Wednesday are heading to the next round at Arsenal's expense.

Meanwhile Costa, Walcott, Oxalade all injured and out
