A wild end to the Everton-Sunderland match, where a fairly well-balaced contest turned into a massacre as Sunderland imploded. There is just so much wrong with Sunderland right now that it's hard to point to any one specific cause for their terrible form. Big Sam has a lot of work to do if he thinks he's going to save them from the drop. They deserved to go down last season and got lucky.

That was a wild one!

Montreal 2-1 Columbus [Eastern Conference Quarterfinal - First Leg]

Drogba is a dirty sack of ****. The second leg is in Columbus. A 1-0 would send us through to the semifinals. But by the Gods of Football I hate Drogba. He should get a retrospective ban for the next game but the league doesn't have the balls to ban a big money Designated Player. Even if he is a dirty sack of ****.

How is this just a yellow card? This is a nailed on red, seven days a week. The ref crumbled under the pressure.

And what a goal it was! Although you'd have expected the keeper to have saved it

Poor Jose's having it tough at the moment...Stadium bans, fines, club being sued, Jose being sued, players apparently saying they'd rather loose than win, oh yeah, and his team are playing pants!

Could it be that Eden Hazard has bad breath?

Might explain away Chelsea's predicament!

He knows his time is up and is doing these things in purpose so he can get sacked instead of stepping down. If he gets sacked he will get all his contract money.

lol. Not really funny, but still..

"Oral health of professional footballers [in England] is poor, and this impacts on well-being and performance."

Maybe that's why they underperform come european/international competition - ever thought about that?

Is oral health of footballers in England poor, or is the oral health of English footballers poor?

Suarez's teeth seemed fine while he played in England.

Poor oral health including active caries in 187 UK professional male football players!!! (8 teams were included, 5 Premier League, 2 Championship and 1 League One.)

:D

Make what you want off that. I think excessive, long term bleaching causes serious problems as well. I think ManU was mentioned but that was a German translation and I don't dig that up again.

Agreed on Suarez. Maybe he wanted to show off back then?

Hmm, always thought Drogba was a real sportsman (As real as it gets being a pro) .. did he pull such stunts in the PL often? I was a huge fan of him / thought he was a cool dude.

That leg thing was a shame though!

Drogba has always been a big cheater, though it's mostly been diving with Drogba, and less the crafty kicking/fighting like Costa does. Drogba is a serial diver. Players half his size barely nudge him and he flies through the air as if hit by a bus.

He has a reputation for being a nice guy off the field, but then again so does Costa.

Man Utd are making heavy work of what is a very average CL group. The defense is OK but LVG needs to conjure some goals or they are going to get brushed aside by the first decent team they play. Man City, conversely, are actually making a decent go of it this time. But it's early days, plenty of time for their usual collapse.

EDIT: Arsenal could be in for a walloping. Bayern are comprehensively outplaying them, 2-0 up already and still ten minutes left in the first half. Those injuries to Walcott and the Ox are really hurting them. It's like Sheffield Wednesday all over again. :)

really disappointing that Arsenal is also missing all the aggressiveness from the first game.. it doesn't even look like they want the ball. Neither did eintracht Frankfurt on the weekend but at least they etched out a 0:0 result.

The statistics are nothing but shameful:
Shots off goal/shots on goal:
Bayern: 3/13
Arsenal: 1/0(!)

Without Petr Cech it could have been even worse (those two curling shots from Coman/Lewandowski and the 2 from Müller) I hope we see a different Arsenal in the second half. If not i think the nickname "Gunners" need to be replaced by "Pacifist Teddybears". Absolutely bizarre first half considering they are currently 2nd in the PL, they played worse than Wolfsburg did during the recent cup game.

Too many injuries meant it was always unlikely. 5 of the regular first XI out.

Still, can't say i'm happy about the performance. As soon as the 1st goal went in we seem to give up

Also, i still despise Arjen Robben. And today, i'm reminded of why i never liked Patrick Kluivert.

Might be a blessing in disguise to exit now...as much as i hate saying that. But reality is we don't have enough quality/personnel to play 4 competitions.

Bring on the NL Derby.

You're going to have to finish fourth, otherwise it's hello Europa League. And I can't see Arsenal finishing fourth.

Not a good evening for London teams thus far

Although Chelsea are faring better

Chelsea fans will be heartened, but let's not forget: they just scraped a win with an OG and free kick at Stamford Bridge, a place where they used to never lose, against a Ukranian team that is by no means a contender.

Just imagine what Bayern would have done to them, or to Man Utd for that matter.

Won't be surprised if they finish forth considering one of the remaining two games is away. And if they don't, then just field the second string in Europa. Add some kids for good measure.

Wenger will never win the CL. Even more so now that the competition is getting tougher and tougher. A shame really, i'd have liked to see him win it given his accomplishments. Him, Guardiola, Klopp and Ancelotti are the few Managers i can tolerate in football.

Looking at the scoreline again, fourth is a little more possible than I first thought. You just can't leak that many goals in a CL match and not pay for it later.

Still, having said that, Dinamo Zagreb have an inferior goal difference to Arsenal and have yet to play their second match against Bayern. I'm still guessing you finish third and are "rewarded" with Europe League football. The only way to finish fourth is to lose the last two CL matches and that would kill morale.

I hate that CL group stage 3rd place goes to the Europa league. It's a stupid system that is all about money and devalues both competitions. The CL should be a knockout tournament: If you're out, you're out.

Nope, he's always been a diver, famous for arching his back like he'd been shot in the back by a sniper. He got better over the years, but one a diver, always a diver!

It shouldn't have come down to having to beat BM away anyhow!
