I agree on the projection thing regarding Bayern.

Do you think Götze will leave? Last season I had the impression that when Götze and Müller were subbed in, it immediately created a goal and I asked myself why Guardiola doesn't play both from the beginning, then again Götze seems to somewhat fly under the radar, when in from minute 1.

On the local rivalries, I am not serious about it either, I just find it a funny side note to know, when those teams meet. :)

not playing Müller 90 minutes when he is fit is obviously a travesty ... in how many games did he managed to put a ball across the line in the last 10 minutes after a rather invisible 80 minutes ? countless of times
He wears the opposition down like few others with his movement range&stamina, scores countless of game deciding goals and yet for an offensive player actually can defend

despite Guardiola keeping him outside of the starting line up during many games he still managed to be in the top 5 of the scorer statistic (cols+assists) for the league

Götze is stronger when switching fast fro defensive into attack like Dortmund played .. when the opposition is sitting deep he often disappears IMHO. Substituting him in in the 60th minute against a tired defense though works great.

I don't know. I'm not sure how I feel about Götze. He is highly talented, obviously. But there's something about him that rubs me the wrong way. I always get the feeling that he's not all that keen on playing. I definitely didn't notice this when he played for Dortmund. Something's not quite right and I don't know whether it has to do with Bayern, Guardiola, or the fact that he is "the one" who got us the World Cup and is now no longer "hungry" as it were... Maybe it's a bit of everything? I could imagine him leaving next year if Guardiola decides to prolong his stay.

Really and embarrassing distraction all the way around. There's not much of a dignified way out for either party here, unless Real steps in and improves their offer to a more acceptable number.

The reaction of the Atletico fans upon his eventual move to the Bernabau will sure be interesting to see.

Another largely unconvincing win from Man Utd against a very weak team who alway lose to Man Utd...Nevertheless, they now have six points from their first two matches, so they are continuing exactly as they left off last season. Points matter more than style.

Aston Villa are already in trouble and it's only August.

EDIT: Actually, looking at the scores so far, very little seems to have changed. Newcastle and Sunderland are still terrible, Leicester, Spurs and Swansea looking decent.

Sunderland and Villa better hope that at least two of the newly promoted teams have hopeless seasons.

EDIT2: OK, maybe Spurs just look like...Spurs.

On Tuchel and the international level: he could have had it, the Euro League with Mainz, since it had a starter place, but he decided to flirt with Schalke and Leverkusen behind the scenes and then was not willing to complete his contract. I mean, he made his choice and I can understand him, but he could have done it perhaps in a different way

I'd say the BVB is the perfect match for any coach wanting to make a big impression in the Bundeliga.
They aren't as rich as FCB were a coach will only be remebered for failure to win it all with such resources.
But still enough € to be a serious contenter.

Last season sucked big time making it easier to do things different than Klopp would have done them.
BVB has a very big chance to play international this season and the ones afterwards, something I wouldn't bet that much money on in the case of Mainz.

I doubt he sees this season much more than a perperation for the coming year, just like Klopp needed a few year till he had a team that could beat FCB again and again.

Bayern on top - as they will be for the rest of the season. Call the engraver.

Chelsea looked sloppy and ragged today against a very competent city. Sterling gave the ball away too much and is not yet on the same page as his teammates. Aguero continues to be the excellent striker he is.

Cahill and Costa both got clobbered and had to be worked on by Chelsea's B Team of medics before coming off, bloodied, for a bit on th sidelines. The crowd chanted "Eva! Eva! Eva!

Karma, Jose. Karma.

wow, what a tuff crowd. its just the second game of the season and people are already judging Chelsea...smh

Hapless today from Chelsea. Fabregas reminded on why he was always the weak link in CM at Arsenal. He's a number 10 not a CM. Should probably also start thinking about benching Ivanovic.

Ironically, Mou has no choice but to keep playing both because really...Chelsea lack potent depth.

City completely professional and exacted their revenge.

Now then, who will Moaninho blame today...

I'm only judging them on the three matches I've seen them play, and their recruitment policy. Both, so far, have been quite lackluster. Falcao is a huge gamble, and though he has had limited playing time he has shown little promise either. Chelsea lack depth and could find themselves in serious injury trouble.

It's worth pointing out that the loss seems to have nothing to to with the absence of Courtois - Begovic did a great job in goal. Aguero spent the whole match relentlessly attacking the goal...Costa, on the other hand, spent half the match on his butt complaining about nonexistent fouls. Fernandinho's elbow looked to me like a sloppy but unintentional foul - and clearly the ref agreed or it would have been a red card rather than a yellow. The Chelsea defense looked lost without Terry.

At the end of the day, Chelsea are one of the select group of clubs with all the money in the world and zero excuses for failure.

From pre-season they've been lacklustre. Only second game but you're 5pts behind with -3 GD. The next 4 games coming your way aren't walks in the park either.

Obviously still candidates for the title but instilling less confidence.

So poor Eva got the blame for Chelsea only drawing their opener

Wonder who's for the chop this time, Doris the tea lady perhaps?

Sure, but to be fair, after one match against only Hamburg no miracle. ;)

RE Mainz: I agree, given the available players, not with the current coach and even with Tuchel (and even if all the good players had stayed) it would have been a miracle, a bit like a fast car you are happy as long as you manage to keep it on track and you sigh relieved after every bend. But I guess, if Tuchel had coached them in the Europa League they would not have been out after the first match... maybe after the second. :)

Terrible performance by the ref and linesman; both big calls blown. Liverpool did not really do enough to win that game, and if that is the standard of performance we're going to see this year Liverpool will be lucky to finish 6th or 7th. Rogers strained credibility by trying to put a positive spin on what was a weak performance.

Liverpool's defense still stinks against corners and free kicks, and failing to score (fairly) against Bournemouth is unacceptable. Bournemouth pressured Liverpool the entire match but were let down by poor finishing.

People will complain that the "big clubs get the calls." These are often the same people that jeer at Liverpool fans and tell them Liverpool is no longer a "big club."

Pleased with the Man U win. Depay should have had 3 goals. I wonder if the last minute goal at the end of the match was a record?

Rumor is Valdes and Fabregas told Pedro to snub United.

It is also the 3rd Winger Chelsea have bought in as many seasons. Poor Cuadrado and Salah. United now tasting some of what has been done to Liverpool and Spurs (Salah, Willian)
