Holy ****. What a bad call.

EDIT: poor Brazil they didn't push hard enough and fell victim to a really poor call. That Peru goal should not have been allowed.

Brazil had plenty of chances to win the match and failed to take them. Also, Peru should have had a penalty earlier in the match. Fair result, despite the hand of God goal.

Yeah clearly Brazil has not been praying to the right soccer gods for a few years their form has just not been good at all.

We need end line AARs and video replay for big games.

Dunga's reappointment was a silly knee-jerk reaction to a bad World Cup showing; for the sake of Brazil the sooner he get fired the better.

Ecuador and Peru look like very good sides; USA is going to need their best performance so far to have any hope of winning the next match.

Italy earned their victory tonight.

Great performances by both Buffon and Courtois.

EDIT; Rooting for Venezuela tonight, just so I can see Mexico on Saturday. :p

Sorry. VEN deserves to lose based on how hideous that kit is!

Yet, they drew first blood with a beautiful team goal.

:D

EDIT: That was a fun FAST game to watch! I have no problem watching Venezuela against Argentina on Saturday. Hopefully they will still have some energy left in the tank.

Mexico did their usual thing - wasteful, sloppy at times and a bit too inclined towards sneaky fouling and diving, but ultimately showing enough quality to get the job done.

Brazil are a shadow of their former selves, and under Dunga they played a style that was only as good as its results.

Russia are a disgrace; their government is pursuing a policy of actively encouraging hooliganism and nobody from Putin down to Ivan in the street seems the slightest bit ashamed of it.

Russia aren't great, but tbh I don't think England are covering ourselves in glory.
In terms of the football, only a win tomorrow will do for England. Going to be a lot of pressure in that Stadium and Wales will be well up for it.
Just need to man mark Bale out of the game.

The threat of expulsion from the tournament has dampened their publicly expressed ardour for thuggery sponsored by the state; if they were to be expelled, while they would try to 'spin' it as a 'plot', they would most certainly lose face.

Success at sporting tournaments and competitions matters to Mr Putin, who esteems sporting success and exhibitions of sporting prowess. They will want to be in a position to compete, and I think we can see the official support for such thuggery toned down (as already seems to be happening).

Having said that, I remember shouting for what was then the USSR in 1988, and hoping that they would do well. Now, I am more than happy to see Russia thrashed.

Give Vardy a chance I say.
So glad big Roy was listening! He's such a natural born goal scorer, that he was bound to have an impact.
Great (much needed) result for England. Got to feel a little sorry for Wales, but they will still go through.
Just hoping the fans behave now. Football doesn't need to go back to the dark ages.
Come on England!

Getting ready to watch USA vs Ecuador tonight.
[doublepost=1466128778][/doublepost]Nice header by Dempsey!

Second goal for USA! Yes!

We won!

JJJ just not able to keep his hands to himself. Sigh.

Ecuador fighting hard since their goal.

EDIT: Bravo USMNT, no shame at all in going out to Messi on Tuesday. Of course no Wood, Bedoya or Jones.
