Hard to believe that Bama's first game is one week away. It was interesting to watch Nick Saban's press conference a couple of days ago and hear his spin on the QB situation. I think that he's going to pick the guy who has the best chance of winning this season, even if it means another starter in 2016-17. But I also think that he'd like to get to a rotation where the same QB plays for 2 or 3 years, continuing to improve as a player and team leader. If Blake Barnett is as good as people say, he may be that guy. But he'll need some meaningful reps on the field to get ready, and it's uncertain when those will come.

The tough SEC West that went, what last year against who?

What does this even mean "The tough SEC West that went, what last year against who"? If you're referring to last years season and bowl games, the SEC West was a perfect 28-0(regular season) in non-conference games and went 2-5 in bowl games. The only wins came from Arkansas and Texas A&M. I know *yawn

The SEC east went a perfect 5-0 during the bowl games.

Clearly you know what it means.

Quick 3 points:

The SEC West was touted as the unbeatable dragon-slayer murder-row division and it wasn't, not event close.

SEC East lol didn't even play anybody. Who cares if Florida beat East Carolina or whatever.

Regular season non-conference includes (and everybody is guilty of this except Notre Dame basically) teams that should be in D2, so that 28-0 record isn't really that impressive.

Well 2 years in a row I've started this thread and people just HATE the SEC for some reason. You seem to keep up with college football, so i have to ask, who is your team?

I'm not hating at all I promise. SEC West isn't that great, not last year or the year before. To be honest the SEC has been pretty down the last two years and is living off the fumes of the power-run they had.

I will say though the hate is definitely deserved though. Obviously you're going to get people angry and annoyed if you're a fan of a conference and you're doing amazing and you just ram it down people's throats. I doubt you're guilty of it in particular, but on a much larger scale SEC fan people have been quite annoying.

My team is a school in the MAC, so yeah. Lol

That's a pretty strong generalization. Sure, there are some SEC west fans who are arrogant and don't give the other power conferences the respect they deserve, but there are many of us who don't take things for granted. I think that what we're seeing is a rise in performance amongst non-SEC west teams so that the playing field is more even than it used to be. And some SEC west teams like Tennessee have also improved so that they'll be real contenders. Overall, I think that this is a good thing for college football.

Oh give me a break. It's not a generalization at all.

Really? You said that the hate for the SEC west is definitely deserved. I assume that you were referring to hate for SEC west fans, as opposed to dislike of the conference itself, but even that's a generalization. As I pointed out, there are surely SEC fans who are arrogant about their conference, but there are also many who aren't. And hate is a strong word - there are teams in the SEC and in other conferences that I'd much rather see lose than win, but I can't think of any that I despise. Similarly, there are fans in college football that I dislike because of the unfounded claims they make, the way they present themselves, or whatever, but I don't know of any that I hate as a group.

You're just being argumentative. You're really going to throw the "hate is a strong word" kind of comments? Clearly a figure of speech. And clearly I'm referring to the fans. You'd have to be completely out of touch with college football to not notice the ire that the SEC drew up after they steamrolled everybody for like 7 years straight and all the associated ****-talking that comes along with that.

Wish I could be there for the opening of Grange Grove!

Well, the college football season is finally here. The only games that were really worth watching were S.Carolina vs N.Carolina and Michigan vs Utah... 2 decent games but the first game nerves were there.

I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

Illinois is undefeated. It's good to be in the chase.

Right because they couldn't also game plan against Minnesota? They're definitely not the #2 team in the country. Maybe top 15 or so, but not #2 by a long shot.
