Again, first game of the series. There's a whole lot of football left.

Yeah, but they should be blowing those teams out of the water. I'm thinking Ohio State hangs 54 on Virginia Tech to maybe 10.

Auburn 35-7 over Louisville
Oregon 49-3 over Eastern Washington
Alabama 35-14 over Wisconsin
USC 42-14 over Arkansas State

What do you think?

I don't worry about teams not blowing out other teams early on. Just get the win and move on.

As far as your picks, I have all these. Maybe a little closer for Wisconsin, but still Alabama victory.

Well here we go, college football is finally here! I think I might enjoy college football even a bit more than the NFL. I just love the energy of college football Saturdays. It's hard to beat a Saturday night game under the lights at Camp Randall in Madison, WI. :)

Having said that, I'm going with Wisconsin by 6 tonight. Totally a "heart" pick, no logic behind it at all. :)

Well it is a sign of how prepared they are for each game. These easy games should be easy for the top teams. I guess I could give TCU a little bit of a pass since Minnesota is kind of solid considering they're Minnesota. But Michigan State? C'mon. That defense shouldn't be giving up that many points against Central Michigan. Game 1 or game 12.

I'd take Wisconsin to beat the spread, but not the Tide.

Alabama 35-14 over Wisconsin

Great call!

My takeaways from the game:

1. Good start for Coker - yesterday showed that putting a player into a real game situation isn't the same as giving him a few reps when the outcome has already been decided and the second squad is on the field. He still has work to do to release the ball more quickly and get the long ball timing right.

2. Cooper Bateman will be a good backup QB. He can move around in ways that Coker can't. I suspect that Saban will use him strategically during games.

3. Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake: I hope they stay healthy!

4. I hope that Saban is teeing up an exorcism for JK Scott. His ability to pin the opposition deep in their end made a huge difference last year. And we need more reliability on field goal attempts, but will Adam Griffith ever deliver consistently?

5. Inexperience showed up in some of Bama's many penalties, especially the pass interference calls. They will have to learn.

6. I don't believe that any coach gets as worked up on the sidelines as Saban does. This is nothing new for him, but it can't be good for his health.

Everyone talks about the defenses Alabama keeps fielding year in and year out, but the HB position seems to overlooked a bit. Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy, TJ Yeldon and now they have Kenyan Drake and Derrick Henry. It's actually quite amazing to keep having HB's produce every year. I don't see no problem with the running game this year from Alabama.

Coker looked good but I still have my reservations about him and his ability when he has to go up against other SEC teams (Auburn, Georgia, LSU, etc.) I can see Alabama losing 2-3 games because of QB play.

What a great weekend of college football. HAIL MARY, TEXAS A&M, DERRICK HENERY, and many others.. It looks like this could be a year full of upsets. Really looking forward to the Ohio St vs V. Tech game tomorrow night. Will OSU get revenge from last year or will they fall short 2 years in a row?

With the LSU game being cancelled, their opening game is now a tough Miss. ST team.. I do feel bad for them now (not really)

The HAIL MARY was awesome!!!!! The absolute stunned look on Nebraska's players faces was great!!!!

I know what you mean about Coker. But I just re-read the corresponding thread from this time last year and there was a lot of concern about Blake Sims. So we'll see.

There is 0 chance that they lose that game. Idk why there is so much hype around it besides maybe that they're popular schools.

But I think at the end, people who were doubting Sims early in the year were partially correct. At the end, Sims pretty much folded to pressure with the 3 INT against Ohio St. Alabama were really fortunate to have McLroy and McCarron when they did and the teams that they fielded. This year, I don't see Alabama being dominant in any aspect of the game (maybe running). They have talent but not the same as years past and this year it's going to be a grind to get back to the BCS title game.

Yeah but besides the QB I would put some trust in Daben's process. At the end of the year it'll probably be Alabama back in the fold with the usual kind of play style. I think that we've gone from total SEC domination to having more parity. That's the nature of the game, it ebbs and flows.

I know what you mean about Sims, but he played well last year and won several games for Bama - the last drive in the LSU game comes to mind. IMO, Alabama hasn't had a superstar QB in the Saban era. AJ certainly got the job done, but he had great people around him, as did McElroy. If Coker continues as primary QB this year, he'll be supported by a very good team, as well. (I say primary because, as I said before, they may use Bateman for more than cleanup.)

But, I agree with smallcoffee's comment - there is more parity across college football than before, which means that other conferences and teams are in the mix. And that's a good thing. Much as I want to see Alabama win another NC, it's more exciting if it's not taken for granted that they will. They have a difficult schedule this year, and the majority of their games will be very challenging. The first real test will be in just under two weeks.

In your opinion what is the biggest game going on today?

Lsu vs Miss. State OR Oklahoma vs Tennessee OR Oregon vs Michigan St...

#3 TCU vs Stephen Austin (35-10)
