So, the winner of the Colombia-England match faces Sweden in the quarterfinals. Sweden look fairly weak in attack, but organized and stout in defense. The upshot of all this is we are now guaranteed to see at least one relatively new face in the final.

Now, can England take advantage of being on the "easy" side of the bracket?

That's always to our advantage, the underestimation :D

It is not clear if the free drinks are only for diving, rolling, grimacing, or just any fall.

I guess every fall includes rolling and grimacing.

Those that hate Real Madrid because of Ronaldo might have another team to hate now. Rumors flying from everywhere that he is going Juve.

I hope so!

Yay! But I still see a nervous 90 minutes followed by extra time and the inevitable penalties.

Hope I'm wrong though!

I'm laughing reading this. You forgot - or omitted to add - after the piece "the inevitable penalties which they proceed to make a mess of by missing several....."

Nevertheless, I'd prefer a different - and more positive - outcome, naturally enough.

So true. Not looking like an easy win so far though is it? Yes we've had all the chances, but that counts for nothing unless you can bury one.

After all that chat we had about diving and wimpy football headbutts...Barrios performs a weird half-hearted headbutt-y thing on Hendo, who promptly behaves as if he's been poleaxed.

So much effort put into 1) winding up the opposition 2) over-reacting to the provocation in the hopes of drawing fouls and cards.

Nerves growing. Finger nails gone.
Toes up next!

Getting niggly. Even the coaching staff are having a dig at our players.

Hope we can get back to the football in the second half. No more of this wrestling I hope (but doubt).

Oh there will be more of this. The ref isn’t controlling the game at all, and it’s getting out of hand. Should have been red earlier, and there should have been more cards.

This game will get nasty I am afraid. Colombia are going to see how far they can push this.

Until one of us reacts no doubt. Agree the VAR has hardly improved the consistency at this WC.
