It's entirely possible to attend university while playing professionally - not easy, but possible. Lots of people hold down jobs while going to university, at least part time.

No, but it should be able to have it at least 'half' dovetail with the professional game, rather than simply toss cosseted and hothoused youngsters whom they have decided do not Have What It Takes - and who have not been equipped with the skills to cope (or the qualifications to enable them to do so) into Real Life - before being tossed into the refuse basket of real life.
I spent around twenty years teaching at third level; universities - belatedly - have gotten around to offering serious courses and proper qualifications to people with jobs, mortgages, spouses, children - i.e. - commitments - meaning that you can take an extra year or two (or three) to obtain your degree. In other words, you can study part-time, and you can study around your other commitments.
I fail to see why the clubs - with their obscene and stratospheric sources of income (which would hardly repay close investigation in many cases) - cannot fund the education and career opportunities of those whom they choose to discard as having failed to make the grade.
