The Holgate-Firmino incident continues to be investigated. I heartily hope that Firmino did not racially abuse Holgate, as the latter alleges, but if so Firmino faces a long ban. This is one of those areas where the tribalism of fans should be tempered. I hate to see Liverpool fans blindly defending Firmino, when it is far from clear (at least to the public) what was said on either side. If he is guilty, he should be punished.

Holgate should have been shown a card, probably red, for stupidly shoving Firmino off the pitch in the first place. On top of that, the ref was perfectly placed to hear what was said, so one hopes that his testimony can clear the matter up one way or another. However, the drawn-out nature of the investigation suggests that it won't be so clear-cut.

Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal in the cup.

All to play for in the second leg, but you do somehow think it might be a Man City double/triple/Quadruple!

I hope not. Though, that would put to bed any lingering doubts over Pep's ability to perform in England. I still back Liverpool to take points pff City when they next meet in the league.

Always fun to see a derby with a red card in it.

Spurs are not exactly wiping the floor with Everton, but between some good play, lucky breaks and alert finishing they are 3-0 up with almost half an hour left. Not looking good for Big Sam today.

Might only have been against Huddersfield, but a 4 goal performance from West Ham away from home is a great result!

Up to 11th. Nosebleed territory!

Goal difference matters, so whenever you have a chance to run up the score, you do it.

Well in our case it just helps cancel out the calamities of earlier in the season! GD is still -12!

Another good goal return from Harry Kane as Spurs spank Everton 4-0.

With Chelsea drawing, Liverpool can temporarily move to a three-way tie for second in the league if they win tomorrow (at least until Man Utd roll over a hopeless Stoke on Monday).

I'm still cautiously optimistic about tomorrow, though if Liverpool are beaten I also will not be surprised. I just hope it is a good, exciting match. Let's a see a 6-5 win for Klopp's boys! :D

Might have been a blessing. Still if you leave your best player back in London it doesn't help. But then it's not like you have a choice in the matter.

I doubt that Arsenal (or Mr Wenger) had much of a choice in the matter, to be honest.

I think thats Arsenal's top 4 hopes gone. Meanwhile good game for Liverpool...even though they almost messed it up again.

Well done Liverpool! A small glimmer of hope for the rest of the league.

I never pegged them as top four this season.

I wouldn't quite write off a top four place yet (well, fourth, to be honest, is the best we can hope for at this stage), but will concede that it is looking a lot less likely and that we could do with - or will need - a generous portion of luck in order to achieve that elusive fourth spot.
