Diego Maradonna is a very passionate supporter of football and they best player I have ever seen play live.
The media just does not like him, so his negativity gets headlines. Since He is not perfect, and really could care less what the news reports, he is in the spotlight way too much. His magnitude in 1986 is far greater than Messi because Diego was the only best player then. My point is he does more good things for the sport even nowadays, but that will not merit a “click” on ESPN.

For starters, he's a PoS. Second, ESPN doesn't carry football rights in the US and they don't cover him or former players at any length. Tooting your own horn doesn't constitute as doing something positive for the sport.

Oh yeah brain lapsus there sorry. Anyway. I hope this result stands.
Ah, lupus then?
[doublepost=1529685280][/doublepost]And that was brilliant execution by Ahmed Musa. Calm, collected, almost dances around and launches it. Just brilliant.

Lupus? It's a skin inflammation.

Nigeria are doing Argentina a big, big favor at the moment. I'm still rooting for Iceland, but they aren't looking like scoring.

Of course, Argentina and Nigeria still have to play each other.

El Diego is a complete nutter.

Agreed.

Personally, I'd love to see Iceland do well, or even score.

Diego - yes - in his day, a great player but an incredibly flawed and deeply unattractive human being.

Indeed. Sadly, the Icelandic (???) spirit seems to be breaking down.

That I didn't understand what you originally meant by this:

It's a joke. A play on words. It's fine. Your effort is commendable. English happens to be my fourth language. You'll get there in time.

You win. Congratulations!
Edit: Got it now lol.

Must give due credit when it's due, Blackadder. The Icelanndic players don't give up even to the end, even when they know they've effectively lost. They're persistent, like a rash. Tell Darling to put the kettle on for a cup until the next match.

It is not the diamond stud earrings that earned my disapproval, to be honest.
I was going to comment on his ghastly dress or his shape, but I hear that's not the cool thing to do these days.

His character, @Zenithal, his character, not his dress (I'm European, diamond earrings in a man do not bother me) or shape.

Yes, Iceland fight to the end, but miss a penalty.

Have more penalties been missed this World Cup so far than actually have been put away successfully?

Seriously, as a manager in such a competition, I'd have my players practicing taking penalties as much their much vaunted set-pieces.

I feel his presence alone places too much pressure on the team and his infatuation with making Lionel his protege has hurt Messi for than it has helped. He's the unofficial manager when there is a manager, and seems to have more sway than the actual people in charge.

That's my take on Fuego Diego ever since he exited the player life.

Sometimes the presence of a legend from a previous era does more harm than good. Maradona was an incredible player - but he has not impressed me in the roles of pundit, mentor, manager, diplomat, politician or role model.

All I'm saying on the matter is, it was handball.

Yes, it was, and - at one level - perfectly dreadful; but the outraged reaction in the UK - given an added frisson by the proximity in time to the then recent Malvinas/Falklands conflict - was actually very funny.

Agreed.

Elsewhere, Serbia lead Switzerland at half-time by a goal to nil.
