Oh ok. More excuses. If you that’s all you can come up with, I won’t bother discussing this with you. You don’t have a leg to stand on. Ronaldo is the best player ever, and now that’s very clear. The end.
Well, I don't know why I bother discussing football with someone who lives in the USA.

Haha wow you have absolutely no idea what your talking about. How do you explain Portugal tying Spain? Clearly a better team and have tons players that play together. Or Portugal winning the Euros? France clearly had the better players. My knowledge of football runs circles around yours as far as I can tell. Your argument tells me you haven’t a clue your just a Messi fan boy.

I am not a Messi fanboy.

Portugal's success can be easily explained by good management. One player alone does not win games.

Nope it sure doesn’t, so that’s why Argentina should be better. No excuses, and no reason Messi missed 3 shots in game 1 of the WC, and then misses a penalty. That is one player completely under preforming. The greatest player of all time doesn’t do that.

Also no matter what, there is no excuse for Argentina not making it out of the group. No excuse at all.

One player performs better than the other at different times. That does not make one greater.

Seeing humor in adversity, absurdity and the unexpected is an integral part of life. The commercials running during the World Cup poking fun at Germany and Sweden are amusing too. It’s just a game and there’s [innocent, good natured] humor in Colombia losing to Japan, just as there would be to Germany losing to Nigeria in bobsledding.

humor is subjective, what you find "funny" someone might not find it funny...

You have nothing to back that up. Messi has always choked playing with Argentina. Except it and stop making excuses. Brazil doesn’t seem to being having the issues Argentina does. None of the other players that are considered the greatest players like Pele or Maradona has trouble winning with their country. This is the knock on Messi. He can’t be the greatest if he can’t win with Argentina.

I don't think one can tell which of those four players is the best.

It's not Messi's fault if he landed at a bad era in Argentinian teams.

That’s a joke. It’s not at all a bad era of Argentina. Literally you are the only person I have seen that says that. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

Go to Argentina and ask around.

Oh ok. That’s how this team made it to the final 4 years ago? They were terrible group of players? Not much has changed since then.
It's not that the players are bad, it's the teamwork.

There have been poor teams that improved during the WC, but it's unlikely they would win, the only thing that matters.

Argentina had 8 managers in the last 14 years. That should tell you something.

Cool. I am done discussing this with you. You don’t have a rational argument.

Honestly, I could strangle you both over a cliff. Be nice. Agree to disagree.

I could strangle a lot of people on this thread. The dumb ass argument yesterday that I couldn’t keep up with because I was on a business trip. My freaking phone was blowing up. I don’t think I have been the first person here, or the last to argue.

Argentina's individual players excelled, but the football federation is massively corrupt and inefficient, we recycle managers as if they were plastic, and the team is currently in a crisis. They're angry and nervous. I don't think we'll get far this time.

At least we know @jkcerda moonlights as Sampaoli (apart from being a Carlo Rota impersonator) when Sampaoli doesn't want to take his mug public for fear of being attacked.

Oh, my, Carlo Rota can do a TV film on the demise of the Argentine national team and play as Sampaoli.
