Let us take this poll to see which one is better after considering all the discussions including the advantages and disadvantages. This will help especially those who are yet buying between the two.

I think the white spot issue would be a deal breaker for me, but other than that the other benefits of the Pro would more than make it worth having the slightly older processor.

A number of users seem to be finding that card warranties don’t always cover it, which makes AppleCare+ a must. Even then it lasts for 2 years only and I think many users would want to keep the device beyond that.

I voted with my wallet for the air 3 when I bought one recently. But it’s going to vary from person to person depending on how you use your iPad.

I agree with you. Was originally going to go for the pro but after reading about all the problems with the pro's screen bright spot, am now considering the air.

I guess the only plus for the air is the updated processor. Having compared my 2018 iPP alongside my older 2017 iPP (10.5) I found that they both did everything pretty much at the same pace and with equal efficiency. On a performance level the 10.5 pro and air 3 should be equally comparable imo.

other than the previous gen processor (A10X) the 10.5 iPP is a no brainier imo. Given the processing is similar, the extra ram (pro) and with the introduction of iPadOS, it’s safe to assume they will both be supported in future updates similarly. The 2017 pro is an upgrade in every other category to the air3.

I’ve sold my 2017 pro now but if I were to buy an iPad today, and of all models currently available, that’s the one I would Re-purchase. The quad speaker setup, Pro-motion with performance that matches current gen (2018) pro’s make it, imo, the best bang for buck. I don’t pay much attention to those that say the Air 3 will be supported longer. I’m sure They will both see iPadOS updates to a similar timescale

iPP 2017 - only available used / refurbished
iPad Air - available new / used, offer of free pair of Beats Solo 3 for students (which can be sold and result in £120 less on the price to buy) - definitely a worthy consideration for buyers as an additional benefit of the Air 3 today.

I have the 2017 iPad Pro, still going strong and meets my daily needs. The iPad Air is very close and would likely be my choice were I to purchase a new one today.
