If I look into future, Iphone should not have any buttons, no volume, no on off, no visible holes, no cable charging.

Yes, this is exactly what Ive is going for. NO ports. NO buttons. MOST features removed. And so thin that a slight breeze will bend it.

IVE is blinded by form over function. Cook is just clueless.

A company making that much profits is milking their customers too much.

The customers don't have to pay it. Yet they do - many stand in line for hours to do so.

Am I the only one who isn't proud at those exorbitant big profits?

I am guessing you're not a shareholder. :)

Electronics are not comparable to fashion...

And yet Apple has done just that. And other companies are now trying to follow. *cough* HP Spectre *cough*

Heck, Apple wasn't even an innovator in this area. Bang and Olufsun have merged fashion and electronics for decades.

...and I hope Cook understands Gucci is something different than a computer.

Only a matter of time before Gucci starts making cases for MacBooks, iPhones and iPads and bands for Apple Watches.

I would not spend more than $1000 on a phone. Apples markup is already crazy, even if there are "premium parts" keeping the phone in the same category would still give Apple enough revenue to keep them going. It's all about profit margins though.

PEople said the same thing when the first iphone was sold for 500$ (which was a lot for a phone back in 2007). And the same will happen now - people will first be shocked but then will still buy the phone after seeing how cool it is

Absolutely ridiculous. No phone should cost that much, regardless of how "premium" it is.

It's just standard market segmentation. Just like Toyota and GM, et.al., sells normal sedans, but also some (very profitable!) exotica sports cars that are several times higher in price, plus a lot of stuff in between. So for Apple, SE(2?) at the low end and 8 Plus Edition Black Ceramic for over 10X more. Most people buy in the midrange.

I'd be willing to bet they don't sell millions of those cars.

just sayin'

But it won't be ALL that cool. At the end of the day, it'll still be running the same ol' boring ios we've been using pretty much for the last several years.
After you get over the 'new phone smell' infatuation stage, it'll still be just the same basic thing you use to text, look up things on the internet, and say stupid stuff on twitter.

Marketers have long trained the American consumer to lust after anything that's 'new'. It's in our psyches. We feel 'cool' and 'hip' when we have something 'new'. It boosts our ego ... for a while ... at least. But then it's just that thing we use that's as boring as the steering wheel on our car. The happiness of owning something 'new' is fleeting, it's superficial. And it's making Apple a ----ton of money. :)

Who's up for paying $1G for a phone!? Specially when the cost is no longer subsidized by cell phone contacts! I have a feeling the overpriced iphone will not sell as much.. just like the overpriced apple gold watch. Ouch!

If the rumours of three models are true (7s, 7s Plus and “Anniversary iPhone”) I can’t wait for all the bitching from people on Apple’s yearly upgrade program when they realise they can only upgrade to the 7s/7s Plus models and NOT the fancy expensive “Anniversary iPhone”

If it is as good as rumours say, I could keep this phone for three years, which means 3 dollar per day for a device I will use very much everyday.

Apple's 2017 iPhone, which is expected to feature premium parts and radical design changes, could cost "north of $1,000," reports Fast Company, citing a source with "knowledge of Apple's plans."

While it may seem excessive, keep in mind that the 2017 iPhone will come with a radical new port call the 3.5mm audio jack.

Apple will effectively double the number of ports on the device. That alone should easily be worth US$1,000 to the Apple diehards.

COURAGE!!!!!!

When has a new iPhone ever sold for less than a premium price? A decade of introducing succeeding generations at the same or comparatively lower price vis-a-vis a memory bump and Apple is now going to introduce a base model with a $300-$400 increase in price (50+% jump)? This time I believe the rumor mill has jumped the shark.

Why? They will most likely offer updated versions of the 7 for people not willing to buy the most expensive model. Everyone doesn't buy the ceramic watch. Some get the sports version.

Yeah right, and people will be happy to know there's a new model out there and it's more expensive that's before? Are you really thinking before typing?
We are not talking about a ceramic phone, but a new model based on what already exists.

I doubt it. Game was different then. Recently purchased a mate 9...Think I'm done with paying what Apple charges for the iPhone.
