Steve jobs also had a mission for Apple. How Cook ruined that by greed and underdelivering

I love that quote. It's from a really great interview. And what is most scary is that it rings so true today.

The iPhone needs to drop $200 to restart interest. It's price that is deterring customers now, not a lack of functions, or nice aesthetic, but the completely unreasonable price.
[doublepost=1486594283][/doublepost]What about a new iPhone SE? Or is Apple out of ideas and their 2 engineers can't handle more hardware?

iOS has lots of bugs that need fixed. That's the main reason I didn't upgrade to the 7, it's the first time I have skipped on a new model of iPhone. I'm also not a fan of them forcing the cloud on you in the music and TV apps. I want fast, easy access to my local media.

4.7 - marketed as the "classic" iphone, LCD screen similar features to the 7 one or two better features like speakers or something - will cost as much as the normal iphone 7 now. potential wireless charging

5.0 - special "pro" model OLED screen with potential edge to edge display. integrated touch button into display. all the tech of the above. potential wireless charging

5.5 - special pro plus - OLED with potential edge to edge, super camera dual etc etc. As above but alot more expensive compared to current gen iphone 7+ potential wireless charging

keep in mind wireless charger wont come with the phone - separate to buy at $99

Uk will pay upto £200-300 more for the OLED versions as per brexit and apple increasing profits.

Cost that much now.

Max capacity 7 plus = $949.

Because they have other divisions that make things that do generate money and cover the losses from the smartphone division. Samsung makes everything from CPUs to ships, for example.

Back in the old days, that would have been called "dumping," and the companies would be fined. Now it's a business model.
[doublepost=1486594980][/doublepost]Odd how people think this way. Oddly, when the sales numbers on the 7 came around, despite getting rid of the beloved by all earphone jack, and all of the other really STUPID STUFF Apple is doing, uninspired, for God's sake, no batteries that catch fire, what's happening to them -- sales this past quarter were a record 78 million iPhones. But I'm sure you can whine and rage about whatever you want.

They go from Greed to Pro Greed. A company making that much profits is milking their customers too much. Am I the only one who isn't proud at those exorbitant big profits? It's a shame! Especially when there is almost nothing coming from that pipeline and there is nothing special about Apple anymore.
You should be light years ahead of the competition instead as 2x as expensive. Electronics are not comparable to fashion and I hope Cook understands Gucci is something different than a computer.

The iPhone 7 is essentially 6" diagonally corner to corner.

So just imagine an iPhone 7 with an edge to edge screen with very slim or no top and bottom bezels and a virtual home button. That's pretty amazing.

I still believe there will be very small bezels top and bottom.

Being able to fit a dual camera on something essentially the size of the iPhone 7 is very surprising.

I'm not buying this 1k base model pricing. However I could see $800 or $850 for the iPhone X. I also expect 64 GB as the base model with 128 and 256 tiers. I've also floated the name 'iPhone X' many years back on this forum.

Lastly will they stick with the exact same form factor for a 4th year with the iPhone 7S/7S Plus???

Headphone jack gone---check
priced north of $1000---possible check

I'll gladly buy a "peasant phone" and not buy an iPhone 8. Could be I will have to go android to stay in the smart phone market once my 6 dies.

If I look into future, Iphone should not have any buttons, no volume, no on off, no visible holes, no cable charging. Software should be more diverse, there should be option for normal users that would hide things they do not understand and option for advanced ios that would enhance experience for people that understand how to use their device.

Let's wait what they have in store for us.
It could be that they iphone 8 will only be available in 256gb(And/or even 512 gb) configs, and making it the same price as the current 256gb 7+.
If it is amazing, looks like a black monolith, has an amazing 5.8 screen and wireless charging, almost no bezel, great camera' s and great materials, design i would certainly buy it. I paid $999 now for my 7 plus, another $50, won't hurt my wallet by that much.

But it better has to be pretty amazing then.

A lot of people here seem to be up in arms because of a rumor of a device (with rumored specs) that probably won't be out for another 7 months. Why don't we wait for some concrete information before we start scalding TC and Apple's decisions.
Because in macrumors land, people like to get their disappointment in ahead of time

Love this part "can only get from Apple". That is what's really missing.
