That's true, though, as I said, I think expectations among some are raised, and there has been plenty of talk of bigger ambition. But they are hovering just above their typical average league finishing position right now, so if they finish 6th it will be a good season by that metric at least.
Glad to see Chelsea drop points today. Just need Burnley and Fulham to help out as well. I think Leeds are probably the surprise of the season (well that and Liverpool). Good to see them up in the top flight doing so well. Its good for the country if all the top teams aren't just in two places.

Burnley did us and themselves a massive favour today. Us because Everton dropping points helps keep us in front of them with a game in hand. And a bit of daylight between the bottom three and themselves.

Very good win for Brighton earlier. Put some daylight between them and the trap door.

Yes, they did.

I have been studying that trap door.

This is the time of the season when it may seem prudent to try to put some daylight, some distance, between yourself and that trap door.

As you said in an earlier post (yesterday, quoted below), Sheffield United and West Brom both look destined for the drop. I can't see either pulling off an escape.

Agreed. Sheffield United and West Brom are gone. Then one from Brighton, Fulham and Newcastle.

For now, Fulham or Newcastle at this stage look to be in greater danger, but, there are several weeks left in the season, and a few half decent results for them (and a poor run for one or two others) could still secure safety for them.

Besides, strangely often, a team snatches a surprise result on the final day of the season, securing safety, while another unexpectedly - having diced with relegation and danger for a few seasons and improbably effected escapes before then - stumble through that trapdoor into relegation.

Indeed. I do enjoy watching the relegation dogfight from a place of safety rather than it directly effecting us! This year it’s the race for Europe that has my attention. A win against Utd would do us the world of good. But without Lingard I suspect we won’t be able to sneak 3 points.
Meanwhile hoping Arsenal can do us a favour and beat Spurs.

Exciting to see Leicester and West Ham up near the top of the table, though unfortunately the league is already sewn up. Easy win for Leicester against a prostrate Sheffield United (comforting to see a team playing even worse than Liverpool) but that's three points they could really use after Chelsea and Everton slipped up this week.

Well, as Mikel Arteta admitted in an interview (with the Guardian), when asked whether it was good enough that Arsenal are (currently) only the fourth best team in London, (a claim, significantly, and to his credit, he didn't attempt to deny), "No,", adding, "we want to be the best....and not only in London."

Gnawing my nails, and knuckles, both.

Arsenal currently lead Spurs by two goals to one, having first fallen behind (to Spurs's only shot on target in the entire game, to date, contrasted with 13 or so, to Arsenal, two of which struck wood), equalised just before half time, and now have taken the lead with a penalty.

Happy you pulled it off. Now we just need to beat Utd.

Spurs are either going to thump you or not. Really depends on Son and Kane.

Son is an excellent player, and his unfortunate injury - depending on how serious it is, and how long he is out while recovering - may have a significant impact on the rest of their season.

Re Kane (and I must say, though it galls me to have to admit it, his free kick was superby struck, and, earlier, he had a goal (rightly) disallowed), I suspect that Spurs rely on him even more than we (used to) rely on Aubameyang.

Well they do have Bale as well (at least for now).

Call it a "professional" win. Forgettable game but three crucial points. Definitely feeling better about finishing top four after this weekend, as should Leicester. The last top four spot looks like Chelsea or West Ham, maybe Everton can sneak in.

Honestly, I think West Ham would have had more of a chance of winning if Moyes didn't park the bus for so long. They looked much livelier after the own goal went in and they made two attacking subs, though they didn't really trouble Henderson's goal in the end.

I think we could have attacked more. But we could have lost by more. I think he was hoping to frustrate them more and get something on the break. I think Chelsea will get the last CL place.
