Isn't past your bedtime? This forum is based and owned by a US entity, so in fact, if you are not American, like I am not, then you, like me, are foreign.
To state football is simply a product shows that you know nothing about the game, so it's time we muted you.

You want to pay my bills too to regulate my sleep time? No? Then don’t try it. And no, I am not a foreign. I am a spanish and european citizen. Political discussion belongs to the PRSI forums. Go there.

Enjoy your low quality UEFA Football. Congratulations. You have won a certificate of “I do not know nothing about football“

Ah, ***** this. Enjoy your low quality football then. You apparently know nothing about how football should be played and enjoyed. You deserve the terrible product UEFA delivers to you.

The premier league is brilliant thanks. I will keep on enjoying it even though my team barely keeps themselves in the league year on year.

although there’s a 50% chance we will be potentially the richest club in the world soon. Perhaps we can buy some players from Barca when the debt gets too much.

As a FC Barcelona (Spain) and CR Vasco da Gama (Brazil) supporter, I have nothing to say on this thread ???‍♂️
If only this was true. But then you have been quoting that you think the best teams should be playing the best, and all the others are rubbish and shouldn't be allowed. Hmmm but you listed CR Vasco da Gama as your team too.

Reports coming in about Inter Milan wanting out, too.

And Atletico Mardrid has made it official:

Looks like the there are sensible people in charge in - at least one of the three - Spanish clubs, too.

Edit: At least after pressure from the staff and players: "The first team squad and the coach have expressed their satisfaction with the club’s decision, as they understand that sporting merits must prevail over any other criteria."

who has not abandoned this sinking ship yet?

Barca and Real, seems to be real financial issues for Real if this is knocked in to the rough.
Barca are rumoured to pull the pin soon but there’s some real financial decisions they need to make.

The same corrupt UEFA that has paid to the EPL teams to leave the Super league, right?
I suppose it had nothing to do with the entire nation and football community raging about the stupid idea then.

For all us that know nothing about football, can you point me to where I can find out how much UEFA paid the Premier League teams? When you return from your suspension is fine.

If football is a business, then why are Barcelona and Real Madrid apparently so bad at it? They've been hemorrhaging money even before the pandemic struck and relied on government handouts and subsidies to stay afloat. These are huge global brands and certainly more famous clubs worldwide than Manchester United. As much as I loathe the Glazers and Ed Woodward, they were at least able to leverage the United brand hard enough to make their club more or less economically sustainable.

This whole Super League business boils down to the dire financial state of Real Madrid, followed by Barca and the Italian clubs, and Perez's ability to appeal to the unmitigated greed of the American owners of the big English clubs.

Owning any business is a risk, and owning a football club is certainly not one of the safest investments out there. While I want to see reforms to help stabilize the clubs' financial futures, especially the smaller clubs further down the pyramid, risk cannot be removed altogether, otherwise Real and Barca will continue to run their clubs irresponsibly and keep getting bailed out, and that's not good for anyone. Bad decisions *should* hurt, as a disincentive to making them.

Yes. The American venture capitalists are (rightly) catching a lot of hate here, but they do know how to make money. Real and Barcelona can't even do that - while the American owners may be colossally greedy, Real and Barca are desperate.

Was it only John Henry that create a video message apology?
Maybe Kroenke will do one, too - LOL - We live in hope, don't we :D

A protest will take place on Friday, at the Emirates. It will be interesting if the pressure continues to mount, and Kroenke resigns. Then again, the word is, he has never resigned from one of his ventures. Ugh!

You mean the English Football Association, German Deutsche Fußball Bund and the football associations in Italy and Spain loudly disapproved of the idea and quickly kiboshed the Super League.

He needn't have bothered. I doubt there is anything he could say or do, now or ever, that can repair relations with the fans. Gillette and Hicks were incompetent. Henry is competent, but he has shown that all his talk of values and community were a smokescreen. His project has been successful from a financial and competitive standpoint, but in terms of fan relations and custodianship of the club he had mixed track record and this latest move is a titanic failure.

There is something ironic and darkly humorous about people in England crying out that the Premier League (itself a greedy breakaway league) needs to be protected from greedy breakaway leagues.

The Super League is the tip of the iceberg. The situation we find ourselves in today has deep roots, and we are merely reaping what was sown decades ago.

The thing is we’re not so much saying the premier league needs protecting as the entire system needs protection.
The biggest complaint was the lack of promotion and relegation.

Absolutely. The team at the bottom of the current second division, given the right set of circumstances and investment could eventually be the CL winner. However unlikely and however long that would take it could happen. That’s the dream. The ESL took that dream away from us all.

I understand that. But I worry there is too much focus on this one red line and not how we got here. My point is that every breakaway creates a platform for another future breakaway that goes further. The Premier League might not technically be a closed shop, but it's less open than its predecessor. Wealth is too concentrated already, and it allows the wealthy few to dream of even bigger and more radical things.

Curious on thoughts. What if the Premier League (and other European leagues), switched to 5 teams being relegated/promoted? Would that benefit/help more teams overall?

Thoughts...
