Coverage in the US has increased dramatically in the last 15 years. NBC has the Premier League rights at the moment, but apart from that and of course MLS you can now also watch some UK lower division league matches and all the Mexican, Italian, Spanish, German, French, Dutch, and South American league football regularly, including various domestic and international Cup competitions.

The cost of getting access to all of that at once is, in my opinion, a ripoff, but it is all available to Americans right now.
I don't think I'd go that far--that's a lot of games--but I've got a $5/month sub to NBC/Peacock, which seems pretty reasonable.

Yes, the cheap ESPN+ for $6.99/mo and the Peacock subscriptions together get you plenty of soccer for about $15 per month total. A decent value - which used to be the whole point of streaming services before they became bloated just like the cable they were supposed to replace.

The Bundesliga is worth watching and it's on ESPN+, so if you're already watching MLS you can tune in to the German league without getting another service.

I think it cost about 5 times that in the U.K. to get Premier League football. That’s why I’m a highlights man.

Not only that, but some of the games broadcast in the US aren't available in the UK at all. Which is nuts.

I think if you want to watch all the Premier League matches live you'll be paying about $65 a month.

Have they ever played each other? If they did who’d you support?
I fantasize about becoming a billionaire oligarch, buying both clubs, and having them play one two-legged 'cup' every season, split between Anfield and Columbus' stadium (Lower.com field sounds dumb so I never call it that). Have promising youth players from Liverpool's academy on loan at Columbus, and occasionally see one of them break into the Liverpool senior squad.

Sigh. And then creating club ownership subscriptions and 'donating' both clubs to their fans with the provision they can never be sold in the future.

Anyway, if they were to play each other I would support both clubs but naturally I'd be rooting for Columbus to win.

So would I. They aren’t one of the greedy six!

All right "Englishters", I'm trying to locate a Sheffield Wednesday Tervis* style tumbler online.

Tervis doesn't make one specifically for them. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

WOW!

How did you find it?

I did all sorts of searches and never saw that as a result.

Thanks!

Arsenal are doing well against Leicester. Currently 2 goals to the good.

A very welcome, well fought and tidy (away) victory for Arsenal, (Leicester are a good side), another clean sheet, a result that has allowed us to climb to fifth - for now, at least, - in the table, (where we are lying just behind an impressive West Ham) - and an eighth consecutive game without defeat.

A happy Gunner, here.

Klopp was right to criticize Liverpool’s defending last week. This should have been a win. Nothing to panic about but against top teams this could have been a loss.

Agreed, but Brighton did well to fight back and not fold when they went two goals down to Liverpool.

And, moreover, Liverpool actually haven't been defeated yet this season, (though, they have had four draws, including today's), the only team in the Premier League to whom this still applies.

Elsewhere, Chelsea - very much the form team at the moment, defeat Newcastle, by three goals to nil (Newcastle have yet to win a game), while Crystal Palace (a wonderfully unexpected result, this) defeat Manchester City by two goals to nil.

And, still nil all between Manchester United and Spurs, both teams playing in their respective iconic strips.

What about going to live games, pandemic nothwithstanding? How often does anyone on this thread make it to one?

[watched Chelsea and Newcastle earlier; now watching Manchester and Tottenham. Great for a rainy, cold Saturday afternoon. I'll eventually learn the nicknames.]

During the pandemic, no fans were permitted to attend games for well over a year, a position that may well be reimposed as the numbers who have contracted Covid are rising steeply and, moreover, we are heading into winter when infections rise, and their impact is more severe.

However, even before that, I'd imagine that most of us were not frequent visitors to a football stadium to see a match. The main reason, I would imagine - leaving aside normal stuff such as life, work, relationships, travel - is that, in order to attend football matches reasonably regularly, you would have to live (and/or work) in the vicinity of, or relatively or reasonably close to, whatever football team you support. Many, if not most of us, don't.

I've watched Palace three times now and they really are a horrible club to face off against. They proved it again today with a deserved win over Man City. They don't do anything exotic but they are physical, work hard, and work together. And Zaha remains a catalyst.

Spurs look just as gutless as I expected them to be. A perfect opponent for Man Utd right now. Arguably just as rudderless and without the massive individual talent to paper over cracks. Man Utd should win this fairly comfortably given the chances they are creating. But as long as it stays 1-0 Spurs have a chance.

Chelsea are still the league favorites, they have huge depth and talent though they do look fallible at times and the Lukaku revival seemed to have sputtered even before his latest injury.

I used to get to the odd game. But most PL clubs are very difficult to attend. Nearly all the available tickets are sold to season ticket holders. I haven’t been to my clubs home ground since we moved to the Olympic stadium. Even if I lived a few hours closer I can’t afford to go weekly, so a season ticket is out of the question. Plus there is a waiting list.

Yes, the price of tickets - match day tickets, let alone season tickets - used to be pretty affordable for working class people, and people on ordinary salaries; that is no longer the case, not to anything like the same extent.

Manchester United end up easy winners (a margin of three goals to nil) against an underwhelming Tottenham Hotspur; Spurs will end up rueing the time when they failed to allow Pochettino greater funds to further build on what was then a very promising team with considerable potential.

My fault. I swapped Fernandez for Son in my fantasy team. Kiss of death.

I see we have Spurs away in the Carabo cup. Not getting an easy route to that final are we?

Am I to assume that this is a rhetorical question?

Quite candidly, I think that West Ham are in far better shape (mentally, physically, as a collective) than Spurs at the moment.

While I am truly sorry (yes, as a Gunner, and I did say - or write - that here at the time) that Spurs failed to win any silverware - or titles - while Pochettino was in charge - they were a very good team at the time, and I would have liked to have seen that rewarded with some sort of silverware (even the Carabou Cup), I'm not sure that they pose quite the same threat these days.
