I predict Man City also draw and things are back as they were. But a win and its good night PL.
Man City might slip up but chances are the title race is done.

Liverpool have two big cup finals to focus on now, but thank goodness it is Klopp, not me, who also has to motivate the players to try to win the rest of their league games. That’s why they pay him the big bucks.

Having watched the highlights you were lucky to get the draw. Your goal took a massive deflexion.
I wouldn’t write off the league just yet. But even if you do lose it, you have the finals like you say.

Sons relegated...

Some sort of Adult Rec league like I play in...?

They all count, my friend. And I will write off the league. Man City would have to flat out choke to lose it now (I’d be thrilled to be wrong, of course).

Columbus Crew a managed a 2-2 road draw against New England today….a small piece of good news for me.

My fears about playing a relegated team challenging us seem way off.
4 goals to the good and three points behind Man Utd. Can we make use of our game in hand and close the gap? At least our goal difference is far superior.

I am sorry to see Liverpool drop a point against Spurs; for a variety of reasons, (I like Klopp, I like Liverpool, and I would love to see them claim the Premier League title, and - obviously - I wish to put greater distance between ourselves and Spurs), I'd have liked to have seen a Liverpool victory and a Spurs defeat.

West ham did splendidly today; yes, being relegated may serve to take the pressure off some teams (but not if there is such a striking gulf in class, such as led to the relegation in the first place, unless some of the players feel motivated to put themselves in the shop windoww with an exceptional performance, which would, in turn, beg questions of why they failed to find motivation for such a performance earlier in the season when it might have been of benefit to their team, or served to have done their team some good), but, in truth, at this time of year, the greatest challenge, at this time of year, is to play against a team that is fighting relegation and has a chance at survival (Everton, Burnley, Leeds), rather a team that has already been relegated.

And, two good (if somewhat scruffy - one needs to be able to win ugly as well as win pretty), but very welcome, consecutive victories for Arsenal: Against West Ham, last week, and against Leeds, today.

Everton did themselves a huge favour today.
Now if we can just win our game in hand we could get 6th. Now who’s it against? Oh yes that’s right, Man City! Not a chance. But I know @Lord Blackadder will be cheering us on!

Yes, they did.

And, they have a game in hand; this is the time of the season when that can be very valuable, rather than a tiresome nuisance, for, as the team are already highly motivated, you have a chance - a further chance, an extra chance - to absolutely ensure safety and escape relegation.

Actually, so will I.

I'd love to see West Ham defeat (or, possibly even, claw a draw) from the game with Manchester City; indeed, I'd love to see Liverpool do well, and also, I would like to see West Ham overtake Manchester United to lay claim to the sixth spot.

Today marks the curtain raiser to the 2021-2022 Football Season with the Charity Shield competition - which takes place a week prior to the formal start of the season, and is played between the teams who were the winners of the FA Cup (Leicester City) and of the Premier League (Manchester City) of the previous season, that is, the season that has just ended (2020-2021), and thus, I think it time to start a fresh thread for the forthcoming season.

In the Charity Shield, played earlier this evening, Leicester City were the richly deserved winners, and were the better team - emerging victorious at 1-0 - with a penalty awarded just before full time.

I did not fathom you were one for football.

Haaland to city is on. £213 million.

So much for not having a striker.

Thats going to be a big a good buy for them. The price is a little crazy, but then so is the price of everything at the moment!
The price is beyond crazy, (and follows some insane spending last summer, on the part of City), yet also serves to illustrate why most neutrals would prefer far if the end of the season showed Liverpool at the top of the table, but, alas, that looks increasingly unlikely.

I’ll be honest most neutrals I know hate Liverpool more than City. Personally I can’t stand either of them.
But yes it is crazy money. I still remember when the first £1,000,000 transfer fee was paid.
Imagine what Brian Clough would say now!

Liverpool are still our biggest rivals by far, and anything city accomplishes is completely devoid of meaning or satisfaction due to the shamelessly corrupt way they accomplish things, so I honestly don't mind if city wins things over Liverpool.

Apologies to all Liverpool fans in here: after decades in the wilderness, your club is doing things the right way and reaping the rewards for it. I hope United can get back there some day relatively soon, but to do it right is going to take some years and some patience — no more shortcuts! No more quick fixes!

I don't really begrudge players the big salaries they're currently getting: football is a massive business bringing in billions in revenue, and it's all because people want to watch these players perform at the highest levels, so of course they should get an equitable share of the revenue. People don't pay to watch board members draw up contracts and shuffle papers on their desks.

Liverpool may be vying for trophies with Man City right now, but in terms of a *club* rivalry it’s a nothing-burger. I think one of the few things Man Utd and Liverpool fans share in footballing terms is apathy towards the City juggernaut. Vast wealth, well-run, good football - but also illustrative of everything wrong with the sport from a structural perspective.

In terms of competition City were nowhere before they started financially doping in the quite recent past. Guardiola has built a beautiful machine with the money but one coach does not build a club; without Pep they’re just going to be another Galactico ‘state club' running through a series of celebrity managers.

I don't begrudge players making a ton of money either - it's the suits, corporations, oligarchs, royalty, politicians, and sketchy middlemen I have a problem with. It's worth remembering that virtually every cent sloshing around in the game comes from our pockets in the form of sponsorship funded by our consumerism, TV subscriptions, and ticket and merch sales. This is all OUR money they're messing around with, and they keep taking more of it every year in order to generate profit through a gliztier, but increasingly plastic, end product.

The best thing that happened all season was watching Man City fail in Europe again. it's the ONE thing they have been unable to buy. So far.

And i dont see us winning against Newcastle away with this depleted defence plus Spurs got an easy last two games.

We are going to bottle it.

One ray of sunshine in an otherwise cloudy season: Man Utd's U18's won the FA Youth Cup in front of a packed Old Trafford. Some very promising young talents in this team — hopefully ETH will give youth a chance, and I'd like to see some of these lads playing at Palace in the final match of the season.

The U18 girls also did the double this season. The kids are alright!

The way your first team has been playing I’d give the whole under 18 side a shot. Either!
