Some games today. A few FF managers can’t believe Salah didn’t score or get an assist in that 9 goal thriller. You have to feel sorry for Bournemouth.
Arsenal continue their 100% record.

Really need a win against the Villa tomorrow.

Nine goals against Bournemouth are still just three points, and we still lost at Old Trafford last week.

Yes, yes, I’m still grumpy about it, and likely will be until we have a chance to avenge it.

Well your goal difference took a healthy step from that win. But I suspect the scoring machine that is Haaland will claw it back soon enough. Anyway a good win. Will go and watch the goals shortly on MOTD.

Maybe it’s the slow start and losing to a nearly-all-time-low Man United team (but maybe that match marked the start of the great 30-year Ferg-eclipsing ten Hag reign of terror in England? What a horrifying thought.)

…but I have suddenly become very pessimistic about Liverpool this season. It’s not hard to envision Man City simply accelerating away from this point and that’s that regardless of what anyone else does.

There was an interesting (and slightly unsettling) piece about Liverpool in the Guardian over the past day or so.

Surprise surprise. City pass to Haaland and he scores a hat trick

What you guys think of Crystal Palace disallowed goal?

Argument is that the ball hadn't completely left Ederson's fingertips. Harsh but technically the law

Looks like the Antony deal will now happen as Utd cave and put down €100m all in.

Yes, well done on the win; I thought that you would be a Happy Iron this evening.
Certainly am. We’ve not exactly had the best start.
Lost to City. Well most will
Lost to Forrest, but we were incredibly unlikely.
Lost to Brighton. We did play badly in that game, partly because of the Thursday night European game I suspect.

I have to say, as a Saints fan I was pretty happy with the fight, if not the result against Man U on the weekend.
Defensive frailties look like they're history and youth is giving us an edge at times too. Just hope the young guns can keep up the pace through the whole season.
I'd like to see decisions go against United some time though - three handballs and no penalty? Several very questionable calls that did not go in the favour of the home team? The old VAR ruling in favour of the dirty six still holds true, it seems.

Speaking of the dirty six - can anyone see the juggernaut that is Man City being reigned in this season? They now have a striker who routinely tears up defences for fun - that was all they were missing. I hope that someone works out how to neutralise them, otherwise this could be a very one-sided title race.

Nope. The title is won in the boardroom, bank, and parliament now. Man City being allowed to compete their ‘project’ means they have a substantial and permanent advantage over every other team in the league. Till the Saudis at Newcastle get up a head of steam, I suppose.

I assume they will continue to win 75-90% of league titles as long as Pep remains in the saddle.

Scott Parker, manager of Bournemouth, is the first casualty of the 22/23 season.
That’s so unfortunate! Although they have already had three losses this season. I am feeling a bit embarrassed, not sure if Liverpool should have just stopped scoring against them, to make it look less devastating. In normal circumstances I bet they would have, but it did feel as if they needed to prove something to hopefully mark an end to their bad start of the season.

Pro athletes are trained to be ruthless, so you rarely see them deliberately backing off. Bournemouth would have been just as ruthless f the situation were reversed - imagine if they were fighting relegation on the last day of the season and needed a 9-0 win to stay up? You feel for the players and manager though, they spent most of that match just wanting it to be over, and Parker probably knew he was done for.

Something must've happened behind the scenes with Parker and Bournemouth — pretty harsh to dismiss him after facing three of the top teams in the league in a row. They didn't spend anything after earning promotion and always seemed a safe bet to go right back down again.
