The way Shaktar and Benfica's hierarchy have been moaning is comical. But Utd, City, and Chelsea are somewhat to blame for the precedent they've set. Now European clubs expect to fleece them for every penny.
Direct symptom of financial doping : inflation in the transfer market.
Pep looks serious tonight. Has fielded arguably his strongest team and i don't see how Chelsea get anything from this match.
Easy to look serious with that squad available. It’s been built to win on all fronts. So we should expect this.

30th minute:

"Care----Freee:
Carefree, wherever we may be
We are the famous CFC
And we don't fiddlefarkle
Whoever you may be'
Cause we are the famous CFC"

Ziggy-zaggie ziggiez zzaggie OH OH OH!

It's actually been decent. Chelsea have played well. City still look vulnerable at the back.

Yep. City show their strength in depth.

Not really sure why Chelsea kept insisting on playing out from the back and doing stopovers in front of their box.

Without James the really have no width

...and the media and pundits are happy. Man City back to winning ways to restore order.

German/American David Wagner takes charge at Norwich City...

A friend of mine wrote:
"He was brilliant at Huddersfield, but hasn't exactly been pulling up trees since. His record at Schalke was dire, and he then took Young Boys, who had won the previous four league titles, to a quite distant second - or at least he would've, had he not been sacked before season's end.

Good luck to him. Norwich seem to be a fairly well run club, and they've got some decent talent for this level. Like most of the division, they're only a few points off the playoff positions, so he's in with a shout."

He'll have another American on the team, Forward/Winger Josh Sargent.

Good game for Wednesday. They deserved to win--they took the chances they were given and took the fight to Newcastle. Also, the linesmen were terrible! Each team scored a goal that was clearly offside.

The game also highlights what Newcastle fans have been saying for some time now, there is no depth to this squad. Once we are past our starting 11, the quality just nosedives. As much as I love this run of form from the lads, I think a CL place might do more harm than good. I just don't see the current group staying fit enough to run multiple campaigns at once. We need reinforcements!

Looks like it's gonna get really painful for Chelsea fans before it gets better. I'd like to think Potter will stay on but given they canned Tuchel despite his credentials...

Conversely City seem to have lucked out with Chelsea who has allowed them to gain momentum.

Congrats to Stevange and Sheff Wed for their giant killing.

No quadruple for Pep then. Maybe a calculated loss to play less games and launch an assault on the league. Congrats to Nathan Jones for managing to make the champions not have a single shot on target. Incredible performance from Soton

And congrats to Steve Cooper for getting Forest into the semis. I'd be really chuffed if anon top 6 club won it but that's unlikely. Looks like ETH is set for a trophy in his first season

In other news, Chelsea paying £21m to borrow a player for 6 months and Athleti paying €126m for him is everything that's wrong with contemporary football transfers
