I think it’s never been MORE distorted.

But I disagree with the idea that the way to fix this is to let in more big money ownership, so that a few clubs can try to ‘catch up’ with the most dominant clubs. That will make it worse. On the contrary, more financial controls need to be implemented that limit the ability of any clubs to financially dope the sport. It’s not a popular idea, but the alternative is just a few clubs getting bigger and bigger and the gap in finances widening indefinitely.

Then surely you just lock in the advantages already held by the few.

I actually think Man City are trying an elaborate scheme to trap the PL into a situation where there is no alternative but a Super League.

The recent EU court case late last year showed that UEFA and FIFA cannot prevent clubs from joining a Super league due to EU employment laws. City going after the PL on 3rd party sponsorship in my opinion is a ploy by City to use employment laws and other business laws to get the PL rules on 3rd party sponsorship revoked because City will make the argument that the PL should not be allowed to stop clubs from getting investment. City will argue that it is not their problem that other clubs do not have the same type of wealthy owners who can pull in massive amounts of investment and as such they should be forcibly held back on investment due to PL rules. As others have pointed out in their posts, it is not the job of the PL to tell clubs they cannot get investment. The only reason why the PL has such rules is so it does not create situations where only the wealthiest clubs stay at the top because all the other club do not have the financial means to cope. If the PL argue this point that the rules are their to create a fair system for all, City will then argue that under UK/EU laws of employment and business that they must be allowed to get investment and if the PL insist on their rules then City must be allowed to explore other avenues of business where they are allowed massive amounts of investment ergo the Super League.

Man City are using the court case against the PL to back the PL into a corner why they should allow City to become mega powerful in the PL at the expense of all the other teams OR allow them to leave and join another league ergo the Super League.

Man City are laying the trap and the PL are walking right into it. Because you have to look at it this way, Man City are trying to make it so it is unlawful for the PL to prevent large swathes of investment into clubs, ie Man City and if what the PL is doing is found to be lawful then City will just say that they then have the right to seek work elsewhere i.e the Super League, because they are being forced to comply with rules that limits investment in the club. What is the PL going to do? they would not be able to stop Man City from joining a Super League because the PL would have effectively pushed Man City to it.

Once again England is not in the EU and the British government have said they will not allow it to happen.

You seem to forget that even though the UK is no longer in the EU many of it's laws are still intertwined with that of EU law thus making the UK/England and the British government relevant when discussing topics that relate to or involve EU laws so please stop saying England is not in the EU because in actual fact many of it's laws are.

Just read this article in yahoo about Jack Grealish and why he is not going to the Euro's

In the article there is a statement from Southgate:
Unfortunately for Grealish, he won't be able to prove himself at the Euros. Southgate confessed that it was Grealish's form, or lack thereof, that let him down compared to his competitors.

I think it is disgrace of Southgate to use Grealish lack of form as a reason to exclude him from the squad when he picks an injured Luke Shaw who has not played a game for months who is obviously clearly not in form as he has not played a game or kicked a ball in months but yet still picks him.

There must be other players who are fit and in form that can take the place of Luke Shaw but Southgate is saying an injured out of form Luke Shaw is still better than any other England player in that position. That must be soul destroying for any England player who plays in the same position as Luke Shaw that the England manager would rather take an injured out of form player unfit player than a fit in form one.

And many are not so please stop referencing EU courts without any evidence it has any relevance at all.

You’re comparing apples and oranges.
England haven’t got a credible left back option, proven by the fact an RB who’s legs are starting to go has been playing the position and will most likely start against Serbia. England have a glut of options up front.

I do not buy this view that England does not have a credible left back because that is basically saying Luke Shaw is the ONLY English player on the planet earth who has the quality to play at international level?

That is just a ridiculous notion to take.

Okay so why is Kieran Trippier the player who’s going to fill in?
Name some other credible options.

Leif Davis. But of course Southgate won't even look at him as he's been playing in the Championship. But now we're in the Prem, I guarantee come the first squad of next season he will be in it.

The guy has made two premier league appearances hardly seems like someone anyone is going to trust in a major tournament in what SHOULD be a contending team.
I hope he does well he’s a Wallsend boy and we love a local hero, only problem is he also played for Morecambe.
Yes in a Barrovian Mag 😂

I am curious, do other countries have their own version of Soccer Aid?

Because the leagues of France, Germany, Spain and Italy have a wealth of past footballing legends and talent and their own bunch of celebrities to more than capable of having their own version of Soccer Aid but I never hear about one. Is that because the other countries do not do one?

I believe both Jamie Vardy and Steve Bull were picked for England when they were in the Championship. An England manager should never discount players from the Championship.

Steve Bull was over three decades ago the gulf between the two leagues has changed significantly.
Jamie Vardy was a PL player on his first cap.
You still haven’t named one LB who should have been called up in Shaws place.
I will give you two Lewis Hall and Dan Burn both a bigger risk than Shaw.

Levi Colwill, Tyrick Mitchell. Then you have Leif Davis from Ipswich, Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton.

Fiikyao Tomori and Rico Lewis can play in that position and have done so for England this season.

but I am sure you will give reasons as to why none of these are suitable over an injured unfit Luke Shaw who has not played a game of football since February.

Yeah, I was going to chime in with KWP from Southampton and of course there's also Tomori, who is just as comfortable there as anyone.
Luke Shaw absolutely should not be in this squad.

I won’t argue with an opinion but you weren’t giving a real opinion just Luke Shaw bad poor Jack Grealish.
Do you believe any of those would start ahead of Trippier? I don’t.

Looks like ETH will be staying at Man Utd. I guess INEOS weighed the alternatives and didn't find them compelling enough to make a move at this time, which is not an unfair assessment and not a big surprise IMO — especially since some key new members of their footballing structure are still out on gardening leave.

Presumably a contract extension is in the works since ETH has only one year left on his current deal.

I'm guessing the FA cup made it harder to fire him now, and he presumably have made a case that they have had extraordinarily many injuries, especially in the back 4, so he should get a chance with a fit squad...

...but my hunch is that if they are in 6 - 10 place come November then Man Utd will have a new manager for Christmas...

I think there was just a distinct lack of options Munich ended up with a relegated prem manager and Liverpool with another ETH.
The odd thing to me is why they’ve gone tapping up our director of football and won’t pay anything like the value Newcastle have on him.
If they’re going to spend this summer you would think it would be wise to get him in and spending it.

Edin Terzic leaves Dortmund. He will have his share of suitors, no doubt. I'll bet he's headed to England in short order.

Euro 2024 about to kick off! Who do we have as our favorites to win it this time out? I don't think any of the team are without significant flaws this time out, aside from maybe France. However, I have a feeling it'll be Portugal winning it all. England won't, due to Southgate's conservatism and lack of depth at the back. I fancy Austria as a dark horse.
