It's a funny article with some curious sentences

It's not uncommon for grad courses to be carried out in English. The idea is to attract foreign students.
But the funny part is giving the idea it was special for him to learn English. Well, it wasn't then and isn't today. English is mandatory since the first grade (6 years old) and at Amorim time probably at least since the 5th grade (10 years old). Technically he could have chosen French or even German or Spanish (highly improbable particularly these last two but could happen) but he would have two foreign languages since the 7th grade and it would be practically impossible not to learn English even if he wanted not to.
I won't even go into some everyday Portuguese particularities like movies and shows not being dubbed and therefore English exposure is not only common but unavoidable.
I would say it's the first time I ever saw anyone calling him the second special one or even comparing him all that much with Mourinho or whatever.
The article is right in portraying not as an extraordinary player but still he was quite good just not 50M+ sale good. He was better than some lemons, I mean, fabulous not understood football geniuses sold by Benfica.
I do believe he is going to do well at United.
What is doing well at Utd though these days? I mean Pep has signed an extension. So is 2nd or 3rd good for Utd? Certainly better than where they are now, but I think it will be a long time before they can think about being champions again.

Do you lot agree with the author of this article?

Basically the author of the article is saying that Man City are not going to suffer badly over the 115 PL charges against them because if they were Pep would not have agreed to a one year extension of his contract (he has recently signed a one year extension of his contract)
I doubt Pep knows what the punishment will be. How could he? You usually get the sentencing after the verdict.

I know but put yourself in that situation. You was thinking of leaving your employer next year, it had been on your mind for some time. You know the place of work for could end up being guilty of a number of charges against them, would you sign a one year extension to your contract or would you wait it out to see what the result of the case would be before making a decision on your contract?

If it was me I would want to wait it out because I would not like the prospect of working for my employer if they was found guilty of numerous charges and thus punished heavily. I am sure many people would do the same given the same situation. Which is why the author seems surprised that with 115 charges hanging over Man City's heads that Pep would agree to a one year extension of his contract rather than wait it out to see what happens.

I don't know.

1) I don't think City will be relegated to Non-League status. I'm fearing they'll at the most will get a "managable" point reduction (anything less than 50 points will let them have a reasonable chance of not even being relegated to the Championship).

2) I guess Guardiola has some kind of release clause in the new contract, meaning he can leave if I'm wrong about 1) ;)

Good for me would be posing credible competition to City, Liverpool or Arsenal.
In time after some work (and cash) I could see him making MU once again an EPL champion.

Maybe it could be a case of myself behaving like the UK media in thinking there is more to Pep signing a one year contract extension than there really is and it could just be a simple a case of Pep agreeing to stay 1 more year than leave at the end of this season which he said he was thinking of doing.

City's lawyers are fairly confident and must've given Pep assurances and why wouldn't they have state funding and have already won one dispute with the EPL

Be nice to get the W today...

Way too early to call that with Spurs!
Although saying that City look uncharacteristically vulnerable. Gundogan is not really a 6, and Lewis isn't especially imposing to anyone. Walker's best days are behind him and they lack pace up front.

So if Spurs lose this then Ange and the players need to donate their wages and do some community service as recompense.

EDIT: Case in point...now 3-0 down.

Holly hell, Man City lose 4-0....FOUR to NIL!!!!!, 5 losses in a row. ETH complained of injuries to his team last season and he was laughed out the park because he was told as a manager it's his job to be able to work through it. Pep is now doing the same, complaining due to injuries but because of what he has won over the year no one is giving him the same stick over injury complaints that ETH got when he complained about injuries affecting the squad.

One shouldn't laugh at - or take such sinful pleasure in - City's defeat (by Spurs!), actually, at City's thorough thrashing, but it was an absolute delight to behold.

Earlier, there was a comfortable victory for Arsenal.

Liverpool will win the title now. City are rubbish, Pep might call it a day.
It is far too early to state - with categorical confidence - just who will "win" the title, as it is still quite early in the season.

Two seasons ago, at around this time of the year, Arsenal had held a reasonably commanding lead at the top of the table, yet ended the season in second place.

What can be said is that Liverpool are in a pretty good position, and, as of now, - if their current form can be maintained - the title is theirs to lose.

Pep might have extended his stay to oversee a rebuild before leaving like Klopp.

A chunk of players in that City lineup are the wrong side of 30.

KDB can only make short cameos each season nowadays. And some players are already having their heads turned. Ederson wanted to leave, Bernado flirted with Barca

Gundogan left then came back because Barca didn't want him. Alvarez gone.

Intensity has dropped because they've been too successful and unchallenged.

I agree it’s too early to call, but think Liverpool are firm favourites. Their new manager has had an impressive start.
