Our next three are Southampton, city and Liverpool.
Must beat Southampton.
City will no doubt find their form against us.
Liverpool forget it! Play 8 defenders and two keepers I say.

Man United fans know exactly what Man City is going through due to injury to key players. Football pundits are saying that Rodri being out for the season is a major factor as to why City are in the poor form that that are. United suffered exactly the same in the 1997/98 season when Keane injured himself in a tackle. It was a season ending injury which prior to his injury United was dominating the league. They let an 11 point lead slip allowing Arsenal to win the leave. Football pundits have always believed United's capitulation was due to losing their Captain and influential midfielder to injury.

Dec. 26th

This will be interesting. Only a few points separate us in the table.

6th vs 9th ...

Some tasty fixtures coming up in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
Obviously Everton have the chance to really stick the knife in and twist it with Man City in such appalling form. Could also go the other way…

Saints vs Hammers is always an interesting game. New manager bounce?
Saints new gaffer is saying he wants to play “Death Metal football”. Let’s see what comes of it. A decent draw would be a good start.

And of course Spurs are also enduring a terrible patch and face Chris Wood in red hot form alongside the rest of his Forest team that are absolutely killing it.

Tasty indeed.

No offence, but I’ll not be a happy hammer if we draw with you. We really need to win these games to put a bit more of a gap between us and the bottom three.
I fully expect City to get their crap together at some point. Most likely when they play us though!

I think Forest will beat Spurs. Hope so anyway!

First half was a nervous watch. I’m hoping Southampton run out of steam as they should have had two at least. Mind you we should have had one ourselves.
Didn’t need to lose Kilman to a bizarre shoulder injury and Fabianski to a concussion. Hopefully they are both fit for Liverpool game.

Anyway nice it’s on my TV live for a change with Prime.

In the end Southampton couldn’t convert any of their chances.
Bowen secures his 100th league goal and a much needed three points for the Irons.

I can’t see us getting anything out of our next two games though!

Overall, a game that you’d have to be happy to walk away from with three points.

Promising signs for Saints, but ultimately anyone who doesn’t beat us right now would be disappointed.

A few weeks could make a difference, but that’ll likely be too late for us.

Nice to see Forest continue their march on towards a top 6 finish. Happy for them.

If you had a better finisher in front of goal it could have been very different. But mostly our defence was more than a match for your efforts.
I think it is probably too late for you tbh. No team has ever stayed up after such a poor start to the season.

Wolves beat United by two goals to nil. Plus Bruno gets a red card. They are now below us in the table.

What a shame!
Plus, they (Manchester United) are also - apparently - afflicted by both actual leaks in Old Trafford (an old story, but I am surprised that they haven't taken steps to address it) and also, bizarrely, by mice in the stadium, close to areas where food has been prepared and served.

As metaphors, they are well, unbeatable.

United going for a ball playing goalkeeper was a huge mistake. They should have kept De Gea. Yes he made mistakes but he was also the difference in United winning and drawing their games.

It's starting to look like the 3 promoted clubs will once again be the 3 to go down. Which is bad for the Premier League & bad for the Championship.

Anyway, tough one for us tonight. I'll be happy if we keep it below 4 at the Emirates :p. Having Delap back though is a big bonus as he was a huge miss against Newcastle.

Agree it’s not good if Championship clubs can’t make a foothold in the Premier League.
No Saka tonight makes Arsenal less competitive though. Just watch their corners. They are prolific at set pieces.

Yep. It widens the gap between the 2 leagues, and enables the lower end teams (Wolves, Crystal Palace, Everton, West Ham etc) to strengthen even more preventing the teams coming up from stabilising in the Prem. And you'll start to get a situation where the same 6/7 teams are yo-yoing between the 2 leagues, and making it difficult for teams in the Championship to compete at the top end with teams who have parachute payments constantly.

Yep, Leif Davis should have a slightly easier night tonight with Saka out! We need everything to go our way tonight to get anything, but you never know!

I heard this when Sweden’s Women qualified to Euro-25, but forgot to post it here - but it’s great news for Women’s Football, for sure. But can’t help making a comparison between the €41 and €331 million price money - Women vs. Men - it moves forward though.

UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 prize money increased

The UEFA Executive Committee approved a €41 million in prize money for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, representing a 156% increase on the figure from 2022.

Participating national associations will now also distribute a guaranteed percentage of the rewards – between 30% and 40% - to their players for the first time.

No bitter women here, we're happy for the increases - but just in comparison, men’s prize money 2024:

I'll not deny that Saka's injury (which seems pretty serious, it looks as though he will be out for a while, months rather than weeks) is a grievous blow.

While we are very good at scoring from set pieces, we are underwhelming when attempting to score from open play.

Indeed, but I’d be seriously surprised if Ipswich were able to turn you over.

Catching up on yesterday’s MOTD earlier, City did look woeful in front of goal.
United were terrible as well.

Only Liverpool looked like they are interested in the title. It really is there’s to lose.

A world where both City and United are (simultaneously) struggling and suffering: Be still, my beating heart.

I was able to watch this one. Frustrated for the Gunners more than once...
Yes, this Gunner was also quite frustrated.

Now, with Ipswich, we did manage to gather (garner?) all three points, but, while that was to be expected (and we did labour at it), to be quite candid, greater challenges await us, and frankly, the absence of Saka will become more pronounced, for - against stronger opposition - we cannot afford to be so casual, cavalier and candidly, downright incompetent, when failing to convert (half decent) chances.
