I don't like PSG but I'm happy for our guys.

2 years, same picture.

Who is "our guys"?

I see Sir Alex Ferguson has just come out criticizing the anti-football played by the Arse.
Sir Alex - like Tony Blair in a somewhat different sphere - is someone who may have been relevant two decades ago, but has little of interest - let alone relevance - to offer nowadays.
I was just looking through the stats of the game, Arsenal had just 34% possession, and only a 65% passing accuracy, 7 shots and 1 on target. Those are not winning statistics. It was a heroic defence, but ultimately not a winning strategy.
They stopped PSG - who have the best attack in Europe - from scoring, above all, from scoring from open play.

Bear in mind that PSG only successfully scored from penalties, and, had Eze (and poor Gabriel) converted their respective penalties, matters could well have been different.

PSG may have dominated possession, but they were not able to do anything with it, above all, they were unable tpo score from open play.

Arsenal's performance was a defensive and tactical masterclass.

Cool.

Not sure he should talk, since he left Utd in an awful state that still haunts them today.

And i'm pretty sure he won his last UCL trophy in a penalty shootout also?

And Utd haven't been in a UCL final for what...18yrs?

I saw Heinze's comments re-current Utd which was interesting. I'm paraphrasing but he says the culture at Utd is toxic. And the British nationals who played for them think they're the only legends of the club, and only know how to badmouth others.

Anyway i'm bored of this narrative so the hive mind is free to think what it wants.

Season is over, bring on the WC.

Flippantly disregarding the comments of the second greatest British manager of all time. Yes, clearly others know better. FWIW, ManUtd should have stayed the course with Moyes who would have won them more EPL and CL trophies than they could imagine.

AKA anti-football. The Arse are a horrible team and comparing Ferguson to a reptile like Blair is absolutely shocking.

Parade was brilliant. Glad I got a glimpse.

I’m glad we remain a classy club, and we don’t typically go looking for trouble. Another culture Arteta instilled.

But we also never forget all the vitriol and will keep using them as fuel.

See you all in Aug.

Personally I’m glad Moyes got the sack as he came to West Ham and did a good job for years (wish we’d stuck with him).

But yes I think it would have been interesting to see what he could have done at Man Utd given the time.

Certainly couldn’t have done worse.

Gonçalo Ramos, Nuno Mendes, Vítor Ferreira aka Vitinha and João Neves.

Ah I see your from Lisbon, Portugal. Some talented Portuguese players in the PSG squad, but do you think there is the goal-scoring capability to go far in the World Cup?

Not really.
We'll probably do OK in the beginning but there are two great problems (among other less relevant stuff).
Our manager is really subpar and won't build a team out of a set of really great players. Not all are awesome as it's usual in smaller countries but a lot of quality nevertheless.
And that ties directly to the fact that nobody has the courage to send a certain player to retirement. He could be useful and still be useful there if he acknowledged that he can't be the centre of everything. Unfortunately that's not the case.
That chokes the team and makes it extremely predictable. Of course he still pulls something special every now and then but 100% of the time the team underperforms.
A known nickname in Portugal is "o eucalipto" from the tree (almost equal in English) which as you may know takes all the water around it. Of course there are also some rabid fans and until quite recently it was almost a Voldemort situation where no one dared say this.
I believe the managers are chosen already to do not rock the boat too much.
All in all I think Spain or France seem like the best bets.

It's a tired subject. Maybe Moyes was in over his head at United. Maybe he would've done better with a stronger footballing structure in place making transfer calls, but David Gill departed and Ed Woodward came in and absolutely butchered that summer transfer window. I do personally think Moyes' true level is West Ham or Everton, solidly mid table in the PL and occasional European forays, but never an elite, world class manager.

Timber is correct about Portugal: they look very, very dangerous when that certain retirement age player isn't in the XI, but they really bog down when he's leading the line for them. If Bruno Fernandes keeps up his red hot form, I do think they have a very good chance.

I do really dislike PSG as a club, but you've got to give credit to the team Luis Enrique built. They cleared out the galacticos and build such a solid culture in their squad. Nobody sulked when they got subbed off yesterday, everyone was pulling in the same direction. The guy got the mercurial Ousmane Dembélé to buy in and he won a Ballon d'Or. Very impressive achievement.

We were lucky to see the bus twice up close.

Once on Holloway Road and then at Drayton Park when they were bringing it home.

Getting out of there was a nightmare. All tube stations on the parade route were shut. Managed to get on Mildmay to Stratford to get our connection back to Edgware.

Exactly.

And well said.

Indeed, had it not been for Sir Alex's disastrous equestrian ventures (adventures? forays?) it is highly unlikely the debacle of the Glazers - and the sorry saga of their ownership of the club - would ever have happened.

Agree completely.

Indeed.

By the end of his tenure, his judgment was questionable; he stayed too long, and, more telling still, left the club - both in terms of dire ownership, and in terms of the unbalanced and aging pool of available players he bequeathed his successor - in a poor and deteriorating state, yet with a bottomless sense of entitlement.

Overall, his record was very good, but, in contemporary footballing terms, he is yesterday's man, and not someone I would regard as a serious - let alone an impartial, or informed - commentator.

Perhaps.

Let's agree to differ.

Besides, Arsenal are not owned by a sports-washing petro-state, nor are they owned by financial oligarchic parasites who saddled the (previously solvent) club with a mountain of debt and are intent on sucking anything and everything of worth and value out of the club.

Arsenal didn't receive a red card all season, and - until the Champions League Final - they hadn't conceded a penalty all season; their defence is the best in Europe, and they completely nullified and stifled the normally lethal attack of PSG; PSG certainly attacked, but never looked like scoring from play. Moreover, Arsenal weren't defeated until the last penalty of a penalty shoot-out that took place after 96 minutes of play, plus 30 minutes of extra time.
