It probalby will be braodcast on large screens on many pubs around town. Not for me even if I go as I usually go out the weeknd. I won't pay attention. Plus in Geneva, because of the G7 meeting the Fan Zones are not authorized. There are fan zones in the neighbouring towns around the Geneva lake but I am not happy with them as I posted before, with the prices and quality.

Not until well after the WC is finished. Usually when the Charity Shield kicks off the 26/27 season. Thats August.
Exactly; to my mind, the new season starts with the Charity Shield.
A separate thread for the WC makes sense, but I see no reason why this thread cannot also be used for that purpose.
In any case, I'd imagine that stuff such as transfers, managers, domestic football news, scandals and sanctions (whenever will we learn the outcome of the 115 plus charges laid against Manchester City?) will still continue to be discussed here until the start of the new season.
Likewise.
I might catch a game or two - or, seek out a game or two - in a pub, as the competition progresses.
However, almost everything about the entire tournament leaves a very sour taste.

I just noticed (in the midst of all of the WC coverage) that Jose Mourinho has been appointed manager of Real Madrid.
As far as I am concerned, they are welcome to each other.

Yes and I'm super delighted to say the least.
Our (that being SL Benfica from Lisbon/Portugal) president brought him last September as an hail Mary after a dreadful beginning of the CL campaign and an election coming up. While not bad, he wasn't great. Not a single defeat but nothing won and the typical Mourinho baggage if you know what I mean.
And now Real Madrid solves our problem and we make history.
The first club that gets paid when Mourinho goes (15M euro, not stellar but still cashflow in the right direction).
Marco Silva started right away. You might know him from Fulham.
He's probably losing money but he's a known "benfiquista". He will try to win for him and the fans.
I won't lie. I won't spend a cent on this bit I'll be watching any free game. I have around 30 lined up on public TV/YouTube.

I’m pretty sure all the games are free to view here in the UK.
Here the situation is different. A lot of games, most in fact, are on pay TV.

Here in Australia, it’s on Free to Air TV, but like others, I’ll only watch a few games
Rather than watching the World Cup (this particular contest holds little interest or attraction for me), nonetheless, I will admit that I am keeping a beady eye noting that the summer transfer window has just opened.

Real Madrid have signed Dumfries, Konate, Cucurella (after failing to get Calafiori), and Bernado Silva for Mourinho
Spurs have gotten Senesi, Robertson, and Van Hecke. And are now looking to get Tonali from Newcastle which could be a big piece of business. Presumably Di Zerbi a factor
Rashford now struggling to find a club after Villa and Barca messed him about. Barca in particular who have bizarrely opted for Gordon.
Arsenal linked with Tzolis, Rogers, Diomande, and Kone

Gordon is a very good player but I wonder if he is being promoted beyond his level with this move. Time will tell, but clearly top teams see something in him.

I expect not to see a lot of transfer movement at the elite level now due to the WC, but historically buying players on the back of WC performance is actually risky.
Actually, I'd expect most of the proposed transfer movement to take place after (rather than during) the WC.
Nonetheless, I'd imagine that this would apply only for the players who are actually participating in the competition.
However, for those who have not travelled - for whatever reason, injury, non-selection - I suspect that transfers will proceed as they normally would during a transfer window.
Agreed completely, and, not only that, but there is also the further risk of a player picking up a serious injury during the World Cup.
