Given the circumstances, (namely, that he had been recently appointed, and coached, or managed, a team that needed renewal and hadn't been nurtured by him), I would argue that Slot did very well to win the Premier League last season, and I am not so sure that Liverpool fans fully realise this.

This season, it isn't just those Salah spats (and his loss in form), but I would imagine that there also the considerable upset and shock from the sudden, tragic death of Diogo Jota.

This I wholly agree with. Also they didn’t just add players this transfer window, but they also let Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez depart, and so the effect hasn’t been to create a bigger squad. With Salah’s slump in form, there have been a few cracks in the whole.

I see us linked to Sterling this morning. I really hope that’s not the case as I can’t see him being the solution we need. I’d rather we were bringing in defenders rather than a striker.
No, not Sterling.

No, no, no.

Actually, he was an exceedingly expensive unmitigated disaster - an utter and total mistake, without a single redeeming feature - when he spent some time on loan with us last season, the sort of unmitigated disaster that was treated with a deafening silence - the sort of silence that comes cloaked in a quality of velvet - on his departure from the Emirates and subsequent return to Chelsea.

He was a heck of a player for Liverpool at one point.
True.

But that was then.

More recently, alas, he has been anonymous with Chelsea, and I have to say (and say it with regret, for I'd have loved to have seen him perform the miracles of yore when he took to the field in an Arsenal shirt) he was dismal, and quite dreadful last season with Arsenal - I cannot recall a single moment when his presence enhanced, or lifted, the team.
I often wonder if he’s a case of a player who burned out young (played something like over 400 senior matches before age 30), or made the wrong transfers, or fell out of love with the sport, or what…
Very possibly.

How? West Ham have been struggling, but not THAT badly.
Wolves are buoyant from their point against Man U. Plus they are already down so have nothing to lose.
However we still have the hope and expectation that we would win today. When you face a team with nothing to lose they can often play above expectations.

The revenge tour continues...

Last season we lost to four teams — Newcastle, West Ham, Villa and Bournemouth. We’ve beaten all four this season so far. Granted Villa beat us away but we corrected that at home

Last season we had seven disappointing draws — Brighton, Man United, Fulham, Everton, Forest, Brentford and Crystal Palace. We’ve beaten all seven so far.

Hopefully we get a result against LFC

First half today we looked hungover, but switched on in the second half and got the 3 pts thankfully. Feel for Eze but Odegaard is currently on it and you can't argue against his form.

WHU's luck may have run out this season.

That Wolves result was disastrous. I wonder if thats Nuno's last game.

But there's still some semblance of hope. 18 games to go and they've signed 2 strikers...although i'd argue they need a 6 and 2 defenders

But its looking like Burnley and Wolves are all but gone and then its between WHY, NF, Leeds, Bournemouth

I thought Gabriel’s casual pass to Evanilson was comedy gold in the Bournemouth v Arsenal game. It was like, I’ll just pass this ball out of defence to our midfield, oh excuse me mr Bournemouth striker, are you standing there all by yourself in acres of space, here, have the ball to your feet.

What I find interesting about Arsenal is that they don’t seem to rely very much on strikers and attackers to score goals… most of their goals don’t come from Gyokeres or Saka, but instead people like Odegaard, Rice and Trossard chip in with a goal or two.

It leads to an attack with a lot of potential goal scorers which is a lot less predictable than say Man City who rely on Haaland a lot. It creates a very mobile team where everyone can attack and everyone can defend.

Anyway that’s the impression I get from the highlights I see.

I can’t see us staying up. If we had beat Wolves and win our next game against Forest we might have. But the team just doesn’t seem to play well together.
Yes we are signing strikers, but I think Haaland would struggle to score in our team. We defend very poorly, especially second balls.
Areola actually made some fantastic saves yesterday and we still lost 3-0.
Letting players of Rice and Kudos qualify go and the replacements have largely been inadequate.

Worrying times for the club.

Ekitike did not travel with the Liverpool squad for today’s match due to a ‘minor fitness issue’. A hamstring, hopefully genuinely minor. Salah, Isak, Wirtz, and now Ekitike all unavailable. Gakpo has a lot on his shoulders at the moment.

Chelsea. Can they get a result tonight? Especially without no manager in charge.

If I were a betting man I wouldn’t put money on it.
