We’re down as far as I’m concerned.
Commiserations on the result; I must say that I don't much like the growing gap between West Ham and the teams lying immediately above them.

Oddly enough, for a while, I thought that Arsenal was supposed to play Liverpool last night, instead of tomorrow evening; most unusually for me, (as I normally excel at the precise recall of dates, and usually recall them both effortlessly and exactly, - a skill that was exceptionally helpful in the days when I studied history), while I had the time right, inexplicably, I had the day and date wrong.

We are gone as far as I'm concerned. However I did read that Harry Redknapp has offered to come back for free. Not sure he's the right guy for 2026 though!

Indeed.

I think that I would share your misgivings.

Well, in any case, Barry Glendenning has an interesting piece in today's Guardian entitled "West Ham and a cautionary tale of being careful what you wish for" (in essence, among other things, asking whether WHU were entirely right to dispense with the services of David Moyes) that is well worth reading, and which I am fairly sure you may - or will - probably find yourself in agreement with.

I often wonder where Man Utd would be now if they had stuck with him. I suspect significantly better off than they are now.

Also I read with sadness Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer. No further details, but I wish him well.

Interesting factoid i came across on social media

'Matthijs de Ligt has an incredible and almost unbelievable record in his professional career!

The Dutch defender has NEVER started a new season under the same head coach, NOT ONCE. Every single season of his professional career has begun with a new manager in charge. 🤯🇳🇱

Following Rúben Amorim’s sacking, this infamous and almost comical streak will continue! 😳

📋 Managers at the start of each season:
2016/17 — Peter Bosz (Ajax)
2017/18 — Marcel Keizer (Ajax)
2018/19 — Erik ten Hag (Ajax)
2019/20 — Maurizio Sarri (Juve)
2020/21 — Andrea Pirlo (Juve)
2021/22 — Max Allegri (Juve)
2022/23 — Julian Nagelsmann (Bayern)
2023/24 — Thomas Tuchel (Bayern)
2024/25 — Erik ten Hag (Man Utd)
2025/26 — Ruben Amorim (Man Utd)
2026/27 — TBC

Managers come and go, De Ligt stays. "THE MANAGER SLAYER!"

Indeed.

I suspect that you could very well be right.

Nevertheless, I very much doubt that West Ham would be quite in the position that they find themselves in now, had they retained the services of David Moyes.

And, on a similar and related topic, I must say that I have long thought that their treatment of Louis van Gaal was exceptionally shabby; you may recall how they fired him on the very day after he had steered the club to victory in the FA Cup, attempting to argue that the club played "poor quality" football under his stewardship.

Entitled nonsense.

I daresay that they would be happy with any sort of silverware, these days.

Agree completely, very sorry to read this; an absolute legend, I always liked him, as a man and footballer both.

too bad the announcer has no idea who Watkins or Rodgers were as they almost scored a goal or two.
Unai has 10 days to rest his voice, and my ears!

Couldn't agree more.

Mind you, entirely notwithstanding my (long-standing) support for Arsenal, I still love to see Manchester City drop points, anywhere, anytime.
Emirates will be rocking tomorrow night.

Arteta getting the boys ready.
