Late winner for West Ham against Spurs, Burnley hold Pool to a draw. Pressure building on Frank and Slot.

I don't follow Spurs closely enough to know what's going wrong. I liked Thomas Frank, but it's not working out for him there. It must be just... Spurs being Spurs?

Mediocrity from Liverpool, but this was very much a glass half full glass half empty game.

Wirtz is coming around, which is important. There are injuries, which have to be factored.

BUT the defense should have been able to shut Burnley out. We missed a penalty. Thus a 2-0 win becomes a 1-1 draw.

Apart from Arsenal everyone is mediocre or inconsistent, so missed opportunities but not disaster.

too bad Aston Villa is not in the Premier league this season
imagine if they were?

and
Liverpool needs Mac Allister to try to hit the ol' onion bag once in a while
they seem to thrive when he scores.

I’d love to see them do something this season. But I wouldn't put money on it. Top four is still a realistic possibility though, and that’s nothing to sniff at.

I know its Dyche ball, but It doesn't seem like Arsenal are interested in seizing opportunities to give themselves a significant advantage.

Should be 12pts clear but can't hit a barn door at the moment.

We should be home and dry on the table, and the boys need to seriously look at themselves. Arteta got the starting lineup wrong.

Should've started Trossard, Saka, Jesus. And then bring on Martinelli and Madueke once the Forrest defenders were tiring. If you're gonna start Gyokeres then at least play a lot of balls in behind.

Man i hate facing Dyche teams. Ever so predictable. Exhausting to watch, let alone play against.

And its gonna be worse against Inter...

If we fail to win this league then the blame will lie squarely with Arteta and the players

Zidane sniffing around the Real manager job - that club has zero imagination.

Also, crystal palace really seem to have shot themselves in the foot with the Guehi transfer - selling too cheap to Man City, at a point in the season when fighting for league position, irritating Liverpool (admittedly they owe them nothing) but also angering Glasner.

Villa have the opportunity to put themselves back in the title race tomorrow.
...perhaps not

I can understand Parish's predicament. £20m now is better than nothing in summer. Glassner is just doing that thing managers do when they know they're tenure is done.

As for Real, they don't realise it but they're in a real crisis (no pun intended). The job is something of a poisoned chalice since its more about managing egos that actual football management even more so now than previously.
CR7, Bale, Benzema, Kroos, and Modric are yet to be replaced. And they were the main reasons for Real's success. Sure they had ego, but also delivered on the pitch. The current crop is more ego than performance.
Vini's recent record has been appalling.

If Zidane thinks he'll have the same level of success with the current crop of players then good luck to him. I for one don't buy it.

He will get some money back, true, but he would have made over 50% more had he sold Guehi to Liverpool in the summer. He’s gained nothing materially by waiting as far as I can tell. It wasn’t a ‘bad’ decision based on what he knew at the time, but selling now doesn’t look like a better move.

Everyone apart from Real fans want to see them fail, but somehow (like Chelsea but even more so) Real seem to thrive on chaotic short-termism and just buying the best talent.

If you have enough money you can afford to just fail continually until you succeed. And then act as if you had a genius plan all along….

If you tried running League One team that way it would be wound up in a couple seasons. But Real are ‘special,’ i.e. filthy rich and ensconced in power and privilege.

The Africa Cup of Nations final was dull and noteworthy at the same time. It stayed 0-0 until Morocco were awarded a penalty in the 94th minute, tempers running high, coaches on the field, the Senegal team retreated to the dressing room before the penalty had been taken. After ten minutes or so of chaos, people are ready to take the penalty, Brahim Diaz steps up to take it, he tries a panenka, only to find the goalkeeper Mendy just standing there and neatly catching it.

So on to extra time. Just 4 minutes after the start, a blast from Gueye went into the top corner to make it 1-0 for Senegal, and though the attacks went back and forth the Senegalese made it to the end without further goals.
