The 2025-2026 Football Thread

While I know that Arsenal have the best defence in the Premier League, (as of now, we have conceded a mere 26 goals all season), I am stunned to learn (as a consequence of a detailed examination of the League Table) that we have scored the second highest number of goals (second to Manchester City) in the table.

Somehow, I had laboured under the delusion that while we defended well, we somehow had hardly ever scored; at least, not unless it was as a result of a set piece, or close to 90 minutes of nail-biting agony.

Yes, I am attempting to remind myself that the table doesn't lie.

Moreover, we won it the hard way, leading from the front for almost the entire season.

Granted, it wasn't pretty, and, at times, it was absolute and utter agony.

However, - nevertheless - I shall try to actually relax and extract enjoyment from what remains of the season.

Meanwhile, the best of luck to West Ham over the coming days.

Thank you. Yes I’d love to be in the position of a relaxing last day. Instead of the rollercoaster nail bitting one I’m in for!

Any news on the Southampton appeal?

Bournemouth drew with Man City, Liverpool couldn’t beat Wolves! Anything can happen, and it will be fun to watch both telecasts as they happen.
 
Present for little man. He been giving me evils every time I sing Championes Championes Ole Ole. So I thought lets soften the blow of miserable Liverpool season with new home jersey.


p.s Arsenal’s new home kit looks much better.

Congratulations to Arteta and the boys

I had my doubts (and still have some reservations) but i have to hold it and admit i was wrong. It might not have been the prettiest. But it was effective, which is what we’ve been wanting.

One thing i appreciate about him compared to Wenger, is his willingness to switch things up, make tough decisions, and correct mistakes.

Bringing Trossard and MLS back into the side whilst benching Zubimendi was a bold move that payed dividends. The city defeat proved to be a tonic that forced them to take the shackles off. And as a result won 4/4

Supremely glad we won the title whilst Pep was still here as it seals the credentials further

And thanks to Bournemouth for delivering. I think Liverpool need to go and pluck Iraola he deserves to be in the EPL with a top team.

As for the UCL i’m largely indifferent. If we win it awesome…if not…fine. EPL was the main goal. And i thank Arteta and the boys for bringing the trophy back to North London after 22yrs.

I saw an interesting segment of an interview in which Pep Guardiola was talking about his reasons for quitting, and it seems to be mainly for health reasons. His doctor had told him that if he continued he might well die in the managers seat, he has back problems and some kind of skin condition as well. I think a decade at Manchester City is enough for anyone. Thanks for bringing us such beautiful football, Pep, and good luck…
