Thanks. I got the segunda, terça bit as it's virtually the same in Spanish (segunda, tercera, etc.). So Monday is Second Market? That's quite different to the usual Latin variants. It's a bit different in Catalan, but even there you can see the similarities between dilluns for Monday and lundi, lunedi, or lunes. Did some old King of Portugal decide to rename everything at some point?

I actually had no idea but according to Wikipedia:

"The weekdays have their names in English due to the Catholic liturgy at the initiative of Martin of Dume, who termed the day of the Easter week and holy days that no one should work to form the liturgical names"

So what all might you lot be brining?

Have to make sure at least one of us brings along some eating/drinking utensils - cups, plates, paper towels, knives, forks, spoons.
Anyone have some spares of these laying around?

Maybe some ice would be good, though I hesitate to want to haul that heavy crap around myself. Warm drinks!

Is anyone bringing any games, music, etc?

<ball, rolling> :)

So, you'll be there?

You betcha.

So what all might you lot be brining?

I shall be brining some herring. ;)

But serioushly, I'll be doing what I did last year. Quick trip to Waitrose in the late morning, cab up to the park from Chelsea, bringing food and drink... and the iPod Hifi. This year, I'll be getting all the batteries we need and this time around, I'd like to ensure we use it, as it's damned heavy to bring, it sounds much better than just about anything else... and it's easier for people to swap their devices around so that everyone gets a fair shake of the DJ stick. Guess I'll be there about 12ish and will nab teh spot™ if people would like me to. Not sure what's happening with signs and stuff... Forecast is looking OK.

(back to work)

I sent you an email a few minutes ago but just realized you may not be able to check it from work. (Just picnic planning stuff.) I'll aim to get there at around noon as well just to make sure everything is OK with the spot™ ahead of time.

Fingers crossed on the weather. Nothing like these picnics on a warm, sunny day. :)

I'll be brining my iPod, some random unhealthy snacks, some coca cola and Malibu rum. (just have a thing for it lately.) Not sure what else yet.

I'll be bringing a few bags of ice. Might even be enough to share! :p

Don't let that put anyone else off bringing some - you can never have too much!

Will deffo pick up some food too - and I'll bring an iPod full of J-Pop for Blue. :D

Excellent about the ice. Evil about the J-pop! :D

O HAI BV!!! :D

I just want to make something clear: I want London to be sunny but not as hot as it is in Lisbon. So... you guys take care of that will you? :p

Also, I think I have a bottle of Port wine here, I can bring it if there's interest. :)

I have managed to source something for the picnic that will be right up your street Miss Velvet.

Mysterious.

So, yeah. Weather's looking fab for Saturday. Sunny, 26C. Thanks to iBlue for organising this year's outing to the park. :)

If you were thinking of coming, but weren't sure for whatever reason, then this year might be the year to drop what you're doing, dig out some flip-flops and shades and make your way to Hyde Park to have a beer with some of the UK and EU regulars on MR, especially as we've been a bit unlucky with the weather over the past few years, English summers being what they are.

If you're a bit shy about meeting strangers from the interwebz, then don't be! We're a pretty chilled crowd and we'll go out of way to say hello and share our beers and stuff. There will be tunes, snacks, maybe frisbee, maybe other things too that go towards a sunny day in the park with friends. In year's past, we've had turnouts from between 25-45 people depending on the weather, with MR regulars flying in from Portugal and Norway and others catching trains from all over the UK... so you have no excuses for not turning up!

Despite nearly being put off by the arduous trek from home I shall be there.

You have no idea the mess I have to go through to get there thanks to the tube closures.

Tube? Luxury. Some of us have to walk for an entire 20 minutes!!

Walking?! Luxury! I have to hobble in the snow, barefoot, uphill (both ways) and take a tube to then take an overground train, hobble some more, take the tube again and walk hobble some more... if I'm lucky!

The offer to park at mine and then Central Line it is available again, although this limits drinking.

Thanks for the offer. Might take just as long though so I'll just rough it on public transport and ensure I can get well fannied, innit.
