In regards to watching the footy, you could go to TVCatchup.com on your iPhones/iPads there.. It's like 15seconds behind the actual footage I guess, but it's still a way for you to watch it without cramming in a pub.

For every problem, a solution.

Looks like this is no longer an issue.

As well as Robert Green, the ball and dodgy goal decisions, the tabloids are probably going to blame MacRumors for England's defeat...

To be honest its not unreasonable, I can't believe FIFA doesn't use more technology to check these things at the world cup.

Oi! Take this elsewhere!

I'm not sure. If we'd had park gate technology installed – like many of us have been crying out for for years – things might be a little clearer.

Any news on the surface at Hyde Park? We need the hallowed turf to be up to the rigours of international-level picnicking.

Unless it's been watered it's going to be hard, yellowed and possibly scorched. It's baking hot down here and has been for the past week 😀

Ah, but Robbie's Scottish – possibly the only nationality on earth more at home in the damp and the cold than the English. 😉

Saturday must be a very auspicious day in Portugal, if it's the only day you guys could be bothered coming up with a proper name for! 😛
Considering feina is Catalan for "work" are the days of the week actually named "first work day", "second work day" etc in Portuguese? 😱

Nah, I have to be using a sort of "false friend" there. Sunday can't be "first work day" surely?

Sábado is Sunday, surely? Sabbath, and all that. Segunda-Feira would be Tuesday in Englandshireish, being the second day and all?

Saturday in Spanish is sabado and Italian is sabato, so it's more likely (though not certain) for Sábado to be Saturday in Portuguese.

EDIT : I've found a list 🙂

* Domingo – Sunday
* Segunda-feira – Monday
* Terça-feira – Tuesday
* Quarta-feira – Wednesday
* Quinta-feira – Thursday
* Sexta-feira – Friday
* Sábado – Saturday

So the weekend days are very nearly the same as in Spanish (and nothing like as in Catalan). Feira I take it must mean "day" in some way rather than "workday", although "dia" is "day" in the usual sense 🙂

Well, "feira" doesn't mean "work" in Portuguese (it means "fair" or "market" actually, don't ask me the logic on that one) but "segunda", "terça" do mean "second", "third", etc. "Sunday" is "Domingo" so we don't really call it "first work day". 😛

Thanks. I got the segunda, terça bit as it's virtually the same in Spanish (segunda, tercera, etc.). So Monday is Second Market? That's quite different to the usual Latin variants. It's a bit different in Catalan, but even there you can see the similarities between dilluns for Monday and lundi, lunedi, or lunes. Did some old King of Portugal decide to rename everything at some point?
