The 6+ is close to the perfect phone

I've commented on this a few times and people just say that I've got a bad device, or that I need to reinstall iOS. I believe this problem affects many, if not all, iPhone 6+. My inconsistently unresponsive touchscreen doesn't just affect typing on the stock keyboard, it happens when pressing app icons on the home screen, and in the apps themselves. I have to press icons and links on the screen two or three times before the screen registers my press. Not every time, but at least half the time.

You can throw your "all" in the bolded sentence right out the window. I've had my 6+ for 5 weeks and never once had a problem with the touch screen being unresponsive...not typing, accessing icons nor within apps.

I'm still incredulous about the unbelievably bad luck you've had with the iPhone, judging by your posts here.

No the bezels are fine. They help grip the phone without touching the screen.

The surface area is handy. If they got rid of it, it wouldnt change the experience of its size, but would change how you can hold it.

I'm not saying eliminate them completely. I'm saying they could be smaller and such that they don't impact usability. There are many successful phones out there with much smaller bezels. The 6+ looks and feels like a surfboard in a regular jeans pocket and there's no need for it. It could be much sleeker. I'd gladly give up height and width for some thickness if it meant better ergonomics.

Yup. The Note 4 with its 5.7" screen is shorter and handles much better. It also handles wonderfully without a case, even better with one.

It's the height that gives the Plus it's clumsy feeling in hand.

And the Note 4 doesn't have a Home Button that has an amazing fingerprint scanner in it. I like that they kept it symmetrical on the top.

The finger print scanner on the Note definitely sucks when compared with Touch ID. There are a handful of shortcomings on the Note 4. I returned it for some of those reasons. But I cannot deny how well designed it was from an ergonomic standpoint.

No phone is perfect, they all have serious flaws and the iPhone 6+ is most certainly flawed. It's amazing that in late 2014 nobody sells a finished product.

doesnt affect mine and many 6 plus users here on the forums, so it actually does seem like your device is defective because not one time have i experienced a unresponsive touch screen on my 6 plus and have had it so far for over 2 months now, sounds and looks like you just got a bad batch from Apple's line which is unfortunate and sucks, mine and many other users with the 6 plus dont have this issue at all so no it isnt on "all 6 plus's"

Congratulations on getting a good one. Your experience proves that it's like gambling, a scrap shoot, when buying a new iPhone. Some are good, some bad and some in between. Apple's lost the handle on quality control. These days it's a mass market build millions mentality. It's working very well for Apple since most people don't notice or care. As long as their phone works reasonably well they don't notice. To them it's only a phone for casual use.

Well one thing is symmetry needs to be maintained.

Another thing is that the phone width has more to do with the phone being "too big" and feeling big in the hand.

So even if the bezels were smaller, the phone will not be thinner.

You don't get much value from a tiny bit of shaving on top and bottom. But you do get grip value if you leave the bezels.

Not really a gamble actually at all, bought a 6 at launch and it was completly absolutely flawless (looking at every cm of the phone, making sure no dings anywhere, no loose buttons, no creak on the glass when you press on it, no backlight bleeding, uniform screen, nothing, it was all good and perfect) and now having a 6 Plus for over 2 months now it too is flawless and perfect in everyway so its not really a gamble actually, moreso just the very OCD people on these forums returning their phones back to Apple for a new one when more then half the time its just peoples ocd's running rampant, people returning thei brand new iPhone's for replacements because one volume button clicks slightly less then the other, those arent issues that get glorified and magnified here on Macrumors

I feel the complete opposite, the Note 4 is noticeably more cumbersome, its alot thicker and doesnt have tapered edges...also weighs more too

Are you sure you were sold a proper 6 Plus and not some Japanese fake iPhone? Judging by all your posts, seems like you got a fake iPhone or so

Yeah, it is a beautiful phone. I'm simply saying that the iPhone can't be the same because of some constraints of the design. They can't shrink the bezel as much.

Yeah. There's a definite iPhone "look" that they won't stray from, and I understand why. There's not much wiggle room for Apple unless they make a smaller home button and then shrink everything else accordingly.

There are no screen advantages with the iPhone 6 plus screen when you compare it to the note 4, the note 4 gets plenty of brightness even when it's not in auto mode, the device is actually too bright for my eyes so I keep my note 4 on half brightness....if auto was on it would get to 750 nits in sunlight when you actually need increased brightness...the note 4 screen has no issues with brightness and hand on reviews will let you know this....:

To get back to the actual topic, the iPhone 6 plus is not close to being the perfect phone, there are too many things missing especially ram, multitasking ability, sluggishness due to not having the faster processor which is in the iPad air 2 which I love and bad software optimization for the large screen....and yes I do own a iPad air 2 as well

Objectively wrong - its max brightness without autoboost is usually reported in the lower 300 nits range. That's ok, but could definitely be brighter. You will most definitely take a battery hit running in max brightness all the time with the note 4. Auto boost works yes, but that's by definition very situational and surely isn't good for battery. The iP6+ is objectively over twice as bright, and you don't need to rely on autoboost to get those crazy high nits if you don't want to. Not to mention the auto brightness on the 6 plus works leagues better than the Samsung's, which is sluggish and choppy, not to mention that it loses out on the Auto bias option if you're in the US (iOS has this and is much more robust).

Brightness is an extremely important screen metric. The Note 4 screen is great and in fact color-accurate, but I shudder every time somebody says it's "really bright". A ridiculous thing to say. And yes I've used one pretty extensively, as well as past Samsung products.

Anyone who uses their thumb as their Touch ID finger knows that idea would be bad. Not even sure it'd be good for me regardless.
