Update:
Down to 20% now. Total SOT since full charge was 887 mins.
I am not getting that great of a battery life either. I had auto brightness on, 5G disabled. While it is better than my Xs max. It is nowhere near you guys. I am currently at 39%. Any tips?
I turned off auto brightness even tho I thought it makes battery last longer.
I don’t game on this device
Could it be Spotify killing the battery? It is background mainly.
I wonder if I should contact Apple. I should definitely be getting better than this from the 13 Pro Max.![]()
Yea I am not getting great battery life either, starting to think it’s no better than my Xs max. Maybe it’s an iOS 15 bug but I really don’t want to restore my phone to see if it’s software related. Hoping the next iOS 15 update fixes this. Kinda sad to see my percentages dropping quick for light usage with 5G disabled and no battery draining apps being used (no Spotify, Facebook).I'm very envious of those getting great battery life. Every reboot is dropping me anywhere from 2% to 5%. Overnight it loses 8-10% while not being used, with notification summary and do not disturb set up, so the screen isn't going on, and background refresh off for almost all apps.
Then during actual usage, it's dropping faster than most other people are getting, even when exclusively on Wi-Fi and brightness set to around 35% most of the time. Getting about 8 hours at those settings, with extremely light weight usage.
Hi, thanks for that insight. I never had COVID notifications on, but I do have Life360 enabled. But I had that on my previous phone too and I’m getting around the same screen on time. Everything else is changed to when using and precise location is only on for weather. It’s one of the heaviest power users. CV19 exposure notifications maybe?
Thanks for the heads up and tips, but that was just in the screenshot, it isn't always like that. 90% of the time I have either 3 or 4 bars depending on the location in the house. I do have Wi-Fi calling enabled; but surely the iPhone should automatically 'close' the cellular connection when that is active... I shouldn't need to fiddle with airplane mode constantly to get the battery life I should?Keeping an eye on the 13-series performance - I’m a battery/runtime geek and wife will be upgrading shortly.
Looks like the OP has the records here, 5-5.4% battery per hour (45%/9hrs and 80%/14.8hrs). FWIW, yesterday I averaged 5.6% batt/hr (50%/9hrs) on a 2yo XR.
Notice your GPS arrow is showing, meaning it’s running in the background. It’s one of the heaviest power users. CV19 exposure notifications maybe? Can set-up which apps are allowed to use GPS in background, or just turn it off from General/Privacy.
Notice a weak-ish 2-bar cellular signal while wifi is connected. 1-2 cellular bars will consume more power to maintain. Are you aware of the free ‘wifi-calling’ feature? Channels your ‘phone’ (calls/texts) through wifi so can you place the cellular antenna on airplane mode (eg, while at home). Cellular providers prefer it as it frees up bandwidth/power for them.
Would you restore your phone?I might do that if the next update doesnt fix this and do iCloud backup. Thanks for the heads up and tips, but that was just in the screenshot, it isn't always like that. 90% of the time I have either 3 or 4 bars depending on the location in the house. I also don't feel that maintaining an unused (4G) cellular connection should lose me 6-8 hours of battery life that others are getting, to be honest.
I wouldn't mind giving it a go... doing a backup + restore. I might later this evening.Would you restore your phone?I might do that if the next update doesnt fix this and do iCloud backup.
Let me know if it solves your problem, if it does, I’ll do it too.I wouldn't mind giving it a go... doing a backup + restore. I might later this evening.
Yes. Almost all of those should be off. For the last few years only on....Is there anything that one recommends I disable?
Really? It sounds like most of those being disabled would gimp certain features of the phone.Yes. Almost all of those should be off. For the last few years only on....

I really hate how inconsistent our battery lives are, wish Apple would be better. Who knows if it’s a software glitch/bug. My 13 pro max is not having a good battery life. Already down to 70% with 5G off and some other location based settings.
Did you change any settings? Auto brightness? Background refresh?36% now, I’m happy with that as I’ve used it often today. Far better than my 12 Pro would achieve.

Time off charger at 7am and screen on time is 2 hr and 18 min70%….what time off charger @ 100%? Also screen time ?
Keep us updated because I’m at the point of doing an iCloud restore to see if that helps. Not seeing it yet. I’m on a steady drain where I thought I would last through the day. Will do some investigation because this is definitely past the indexing period.
Any ideas?
I don’t use auto brightness and have not changed any other settings.Did you change any settings? Auto brightness? Background refresh?
