I don't get these kinds of threads...?

See that?

That's my iPhone 4's stats, which I've owned for more than a year now

Why all the bitching about the iPhone 4S battery life and "getting hot"?

Your battery life is no different from mine yet your phone is capable of HSPA+ and my iPhone 4 gets hot as well, it's a computer, it's supposed to get hot when used in moderation, it's normal

Come on...I've had every single iPhone since the original and NEVER had battery like this. That's a lame excuse at best. There is clearly an issue and Apple needs to address it ASAP.

FALSE!

Why are you making such claims?

I've owned all of them with the exception of the 4S and battery life has always been top class

Didnt obviously wanna start a new thread, but I think my battery might be a little poor...

Time since last full charge -

Usage - 2 hours, 55 minutes
Standby - 23 hours, 17 minutes

I'm at 44%. I also used Facetime for about 45 minutes last night, talked lightly on the phone, light texting, and light browsing, with maybe a little bit of light gaming as well.

Does this seem normal?

I have no idea because I just activated my iPhone the other night, and it's only had one full charge. Maybe it needs more calibration?

No that isn't going back and forth that is nitpicking at wording. Most vs ALL was the same thing I was trying to convey. Either way it's nitpicking and childish he continues to have baseless facts in this topic and the other one.

Yea, I don't turn off GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth, and get emails all day on 2 email accounts pushed, and use my phone for work, texts, etc. I use only 20-30% of the battery which leaves me around 70% left from 6:30am till 10pm at night. The Skyrocket, EVO phones I personally owned, both only made it till noon and required a charge and I have WIFI off, GPS off, Bluetooth off to even make it that far.

Can you give it up? It isn't a "fact" that every android phone has bad battery life.

Here are some screenshots from my Galaxy S Captivate:

The 4th and 5th picture are some pictures of light usage. I do heavy internet surfing, some calling and texting, e-mailing, and Facebooking on a normal day.

Oh my god, people are fighting over which phone has/doesn't have good battery life. What the hell is this world coming to? LOL.

"My battery is better than your battery"

Again, that isn't stock. SHOW ME ONE TEST FROM AN ACTUAL REAL REVIEW SITE THAT SHOWS THE ANDROID PERFORMS BETTER ON BATTERY LIFE WITH STOCK ROM/SOFTWARE vs the iphone. Do it. You won't find one. But you will find MANY of the iphone over the android phones. I HAVE PERSONAL experience with many many different phones. You can't tell me different.

I am on stock software. My phone became unrooted after the 2.2 upgrade. Haven't tried to root it since.

He doesn't want to accept your battery life because it doesn't suit his agenda. This guy is clueless. I wouldn't take him very seriously.

What does my battery look like? This is with some talking, light to mild browsing, Facebook, light gaming and about 30-45 minutes of Facetiming.

Not sure what kind of life to expect, this was after my first full charge.

Not only did I look at other threads but I posted in them. I think this issue needs to be vocalized even further so that Apple realizes what a major issue this is to so many people. And how could I be a troll when I'm posting screenshot proof of my issue? Do you even know what a troll is?

You're right. I'm going to start a thread about how if I hold my phone a certain way my signal strength drops. Hopefully Apple will fix!

Mine is great. I can get pretty much 2 days out of it without needing to charge. More than happy :)

OP has Bluetooth enabled and terrible coverage, no wonder the battery life blows. He's got pretty much 0 bars.

Turn off bluetooth and you'll see at least 2 hours extra on your battery life.

Throughout the day on my 4S i am sending and receiving 200-300 txts, 30-50 calls and a crap ton of emailing and I get through a 10-12 hour workday with 5-10% battery life when I get home.

People..my iPhone gets very very Hot at side of the micro sim slot when i listen to music, browse apps, play games i mean when i use my phone!! it gets very hot like overheating! its very frustrating when im just using the phone and feeling it like the phone its just gonna explode sometime!!

Why all the negative votes on this? It works well. I never, ever think about the battery, sometimes using GPS for a whole day with power left to spare. Indeed, I wish Apple offered a 4XL with a bigger internal battery, but in any case the Mophie works fine.

EDIT: By the way, much of the discussion in this thread is rather fruitless. I understand that people with phones that have battery life they perceive as being low are frustrated. However the tit-for-tat comparisons between individual Android and iOS phones can not settle the debate about which system has better battery life. The problem is that there will be natural variation among phones even in the same model from the same manufacturer. Add to that variation due to different carriers, apps, services etc. and it becomes hopeless to make comparisons between individual phones. Those who are interested might want to look at the heuristic of availability - just because your phone has poor/great battery life does not mean all the phones of that same model do.

@OP: Genuinely sorry to hear you are disappointed with the battery life on your phone. I do wonder whether this has something to do with the battery calibration, but in any case there are simple measures one can take that reduce power consumption. It shouldn't be the case that one has to micro-manage things to squeeze every last electron our of the battery, but it seems that some people have to. This doesn't necessarily represent a bug, for in any model of any phone there will always be those with phones that fall in the lowest percentiles for battery life. What Apple needs to do is to account for the battery usage by app/service, so that you can judge what to trim. In this regard, this is the first time anything about Android has impressed me - the diagnostic information seems quite good.

My battery lasted just over a day with the following usage:

Yesterday had Mobile Data & WiFi off from 11.40am when I took it off charge. This included 7 hours in work and location services off mostly.

Turned on Wi-Fi when I got home from work at 11.pm, used that for a bit until I went to sleep.

Push notifications limited to Calls, Messages, Cal & Reminders, Weather WhatsApp & Facebook Messenger. (I presume the latter ones weren't in use when I wasn't connected to the internet or 3G)

Brightness was set to 50%.

Used mainly for text messaging & couple of phone calls.

Watched 40 mins of video streaming over Wi-Fi last night.

Left phone on overnight but with MD & WiFi both off.

Light Facebook & web browsing over the usage. (Mainly using Macbook for internet, so phone is beside me just for text messaging!)

No gaming or music.

It would appear that the phone on standby is draining far too quickly, is that the case for most people?

Believe me- the Nexus will have worse battery life.

ive been 3 days without charging cutting it off at night. granted I'm a very light user during the week. they can have very comparable battery life once you learn how to manage it. you don't have to do that in ios, it does it for you.

200hrs standby is 8.33 days

Who in here has an alarm set on the Clock app?

So far my battery has been great. Sure, playing FIFA 12 does drain it, but if I don't play graphical demanding games like FIFA or Need for speed, the battery lasts about a day and a half.

On the past few days I've set up an alarm on my alarm clock. Today without using the phone the battery drained 9% from 100. When I opened up the usage stats, I see the phone was "active" for 2 hours. Which just isn't true. I hadn't used the phone and reception is good.

Does anyone notice a difference between having an alarm set?

The battery is still good, but not as good as it was for such a small thing changed.
