Paying for ringtones from songs you've already bought?

*sigh*

I thought you were different Apple. Turns out you're not. I'm saddened by this flagrant greed.

You don't think it could be the record companies insisting on an extra fee for ringtone use?

For comparison, t-mobile charges $2.99 just for a ringtone.

Is anyone sellling ringtones for 99 cents? Who else is selling ringtone plus full song on a media player for $1.99?

10:11am - Gonna Make You Sweat by C+C Music Factory? Damn Steve. "Isn't this great? Pick the exact section of the song you like, make a ringtone out of it!" Uh oh, he's playing the Beatles... Give Peace a Chance... "That's when NBC calls." Uproarious laughter.

LOL

I know you got that from engadget's live coverage, but Give Peace a Chance is a Lennon solo song.

Wow. The fat pod really was true.

"It's incredibly tiny, this is the new nano, it's incredibly thin. It's REALLY nice." Huge applause. "Let me show you some bigger pictures of it... comes in beautiful colors. So what's the video like? New nano: larger 2-inch screen, it's going to look the same as it did on the iPod video, it's the same QVGA resolution. We've achieved this with a screen with the highest pixel density we've ever shipped."

why not add some Apple profits to the cause

Nuh-nuh nee nuh-nuh

I told ya it really was going to be the "nano", not the "mini" or other crap, and I told you it'd look a hell of a lot better when it wasn't some washed out photo-of-an-LCD-showing-a-photo thing.

The new iPod nano looks pretty good. Good job Apple.

Update: Ok, it looks nice, but 8Gb maximum capacity is a deal breaker. That's seriously disappointing, I hope a 16Gb model will become available as soon as the technology is there to make it possible.

The Fat (but Thin) Nano...

Like the slim side profile. V.nice. Have to wonder how easy that screen might crack without a more substantial (a la 5G iPod) base-unit to support it.

Coverflow stuff is a swanky addition.

Have to say: I'm loving Gizmodo's coverage. They've got a right couple of comics covering this.
