Not cool that MacRumors is linking to a site that is NSFW....

I clicked on that KezNews site and it had pornographic images in the upper right... (I believe it was an adultfriendfinder ad with naked women) I think that link should be removed.

didn't realize. delinked.

If the iTunes wireless shopping proves true, do you think we iPhone owners will see an update allowing us to as well? Or is at&t's contract likely to not let that happen?

Regardless, I really hope Steve Jobs does introduce ONE new feature for the iPhone after coming out with a device that will be very similiar and likely much less in cost to the consumer. (iChat would make me happy).

As for bluetooth, I would rather Apple never create another bluetooth device again. They made the absolute WORST bluetooth headset for their iPhone. I don't think think I could imagine bluetooth headsets.

Bluetooth is the future man...

Wouldn't it be nice to sync your iPod without ever plugging it in? Or maybe use your iPod as a remote?

Thanks!

WiFi would be way faster to sync and AppleTV, Airport Express, TiVo, ect. have never used Bluetooth.

agree on keznews item

looked at the image and wondered why it was NSFW... then went onto their site....

What kind of tech news site has AFF ads on it?

I'd kill that mockup and their reference. Real tech news doesn't need AFF or adult ads to support it...

Completely am ok w/ adult or AFF ads on sites that go with the adult world but not with tech news...

That's the first time I've read that. Do you have one?

As for the iPods, I'm always excited about Apple Events, but not really excited about the designs I've seen so far. Apple has blown us away with amazing device designs lately. The 2G iPod shuffle, the 2G iPod nano, the iPhone. Who saw those coming? I find it funny that the 3G nano mockups I've seen use the older white plastic case. If anything, they'll use brushed aluminum.

Viz Hot Tip: Two new iPod Touches and some Cellotape make a wondeful alternative to a Nintendo DS.

Is it just me, or has every generation of iPods been preceded by a flood or rumors predicting WiFi/Bluetooth?

I predict we'll just see a new $50 leather case, an update to the iPod Hi-Fi, and the full Beatles catalog on iTunes.

Of course, the Nano rumors *might* be accurate. This would allow the iPod Hi-Fi to be paired up with an iPod that is equally as ugly as it is.

Seriously, though- anyone actually own a Hi-Fi? I've never been able to figure out who would buy it with all the nice, clean 3rd party solutions out there.

Beatles on itunes - meh

I'm old enough to have bought all the Beatles on vinyl when they came out and bought again on cd's. What do I care about Beatles on itunes - not a whole lot. However there is a whole generation that does I'm sure.
Now if the download audio quality was better than vinyl or cd... Heck, who am I kidding - my hearing is shot :)

I guess this will probably mean that OS 10.4.11 will be released before September 5. It'll probably be needed for drivers if WiFi or Bluetooth support is added to the iPod. Depending how full featured the iPod OS X is, 10.4.11 may add some networking, file sharing or app installing pathways.

It's been pointed out that the iPhone could make a PSP or Nintendo DS competitor if it wasn't so expensive. But with OS X iPods, Apple definitely has an affordable platform for light, portable gaming. I wonder what processor it'll use now that PortalPlayer has been bought by nVidia?

that nano mock up is so fugly.

If the iPod Nano looks anything like the mock up, it's an abomination of design.

I'm unconvinced.

I like my sister's iPod (5g/video). If you keep the screen size the same, make it half the depth, and shorten the bottom, I'd like it even more. I'll look at it before I decide.

However.... I'm fairly confident that I'd rather have a touch screen iPod :)

the nano's are fugly but that mock up of the ipod looks pretty cool. Just looks like an iphone w/o the phone part..

Beatles iPod maybe? Who knows, but I think the placement of an album's art in the invite is also quite telling...

Beastie Boys, Beatles...

Now, I know that the Joel Johnson, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips etc wouldn't make sense (non alphabetic...) but I figure it's just a subtle hint, as "the beat goes on" is.

If Beatles are indeed imminent, I can't imagine "the beat goes on" is a Beatle reference (and incredibly obscure to boot), since it's really a Sonny and Cher song. If they wanted a Beatles clue, "come aboard" (all our friends are all aboard) woulda been more like it or "do you want to know a secret", "dig it", "getting better",… I'll be shocked if Beatles get announced. That oughta be more of an October/November thing.

iTunes Content

Adding the entire Beatles makes perfect sense given all the band's members' catalogs being added in the past weeks. There's also the imminent appearance of indie labels' catalogs as iTunes Plus.

As for the iPod lineup, seems like the Nano redesign will leave Apple with a pretty big market gap, given the awkward design. Who knows, maybe the shuffle will get a larger capacity or maybe the 2nd Gen Nano form factor will be kept as an entry model. After all, the added width is the main reason why there are many fatPod design dissenters.

As for the new iPod Touch, surely it will shake up iPod Games sales, due to the replacement of the click-wheel. Surely this will clarify and ignite things up for future iPhone/iPod Multitouch game development. The need for a single UI, makes me think the rim-based touch input patent will not be applied in this new iPod. ;)

Somehow I think that the fatPod is a replacement for the 5G iPod, which would then be moved down cheaper, with flash. The iPod Touch would then be top of the line, priced more than the fatPod. I guess the nano would be replaced by a different, as-yet-unseen iPod. That's just my ramblings.
