Liking the sound of that, seems a kind of credible claim.

Wifi is what will make or break it with the embedded OS. As it was I couldn't see the point of Wifi, but with the OS it's a whole different story.

Because of the level of usefulness, I expect the addition or omission of Wifi would also make or break the wallet!

I just revealed that there will be expensive high end models that have everything people have been wanting... what more do you want? I can't talk screen size/hard drive size/software/dimensions until Wednesday.

I have been following this 750+ post from the beginning and
I hope when you say that the high end model will "have everything people have been wanting" means WiFi. I have been waiting for a touchscreen iPod ever since the rumors said it would come out as the fifth gen. I have been waiting for over 3 years and every time Steve comes out with a new iPod it has been one crushing let down after another. Since the cruddy pathetic upgrade to 5.5 last year was so lackluster, Steve owes us a BIG WOW.
iPod 5.5 put me on life support and the only think keeping me alive is the hope that Jobs will release something that will make me go WOW. Hopefully the WOW won't be, "WOW what a piece of s**t."

Wow, I put the thread down for a couple of days and come back to find that this Bagles fellow has gone completely off the rails. Lovely comment re the Nazis and Jews, dipstick.

Seriously, Bagles, what is your damage? You're the frothing, obnoxious Apple fanboi I've always heard about but have never actually met. No wonder people call the rest of us zealots.

I'm GUESSING you're 12. It's a FACT, though, that I gotta love any Web forum that has the foresight to install a twit filter.

Even if your guesses prove to be correct, you've ensured that your opinions are not worth taking seriously. Grow up already.

Yeah, and I don't think that anybody remembers but once, somebody asked Steve Jobs if there would be a service to sell music wirelessly (And I know this is a different ball-game, but I think the answer still is accurate.) " It would be slow and be very expensive". I don't remember the source, but check the videos for all of the newscasts that had Steve Jobs in them after the iPhone was introduced, and you will find it.

"Dear 9to5Mac,

no problem this time to put up the pictures.

They can't be the real ones, because of complete confidentiality within Apple.

Ha! Take that 9to5 mac! 480x320 screen my ass!

The new iPod will have a 4" screen.

I'm not 100% loyal to Apple... so I'd have to say one other thing - my 3G iPod is begging to be replaced, and if someone (Archos, Nokia, Microsoft, whoever) comes out with an iPhone-like music player before Apple themselves do then I'll be buying theirs.

I'm probably far from alone, and I'm sure Apple will have thought of that, so I have faith :) My faith (lol so it *is* a religion) did waver when it looked like they were ditching the Mac Mini, and look what they did, they updated it :D So there's hope. Either way, we'll all know soon enough. It is kind of fun to speculate though isn't it.

Way fun to "Speculate" a.k.a. fight over who has the right idea of what the new iPod will look like.

I always thought that the first widescreen iPod would have a 4" screen.

When they introduced the iPhone with a 3.5" screen and an "iPod" function, I figured it was their way of introducing the widescreen iPod without REALLY introducing the next iPod yet.

Then, along with all the other info I learned about the new iPod, it was confirmed that it'll have a 4" screen.

Both screens will support video resolution up to 640x480, except on the iPod, it'll be playing at it's native size, and on the iPhone it gets rescaled.

This way, Apple can let the customers conveniently use the same encoding for both devices, even though one of them has a bigger screen.

Hope that you are right, I can compromise to have a full screen but no touch screen. (Look way back and find the pictures of the clickwheel on the screen. You'll get what I'm saying, I just want the clickwheel to disappear after I use it!)

The 4" screen covers the face of the device. Unless they make the device larger than 4" diagonal, or they have controls on the sides, everything will be touch. For that clickwheel to appear when you touch the screen, it has to be a touchscreen.

The 4" screen covers the face of the device. Everything is touch.

I hope so, you never know, in my eyes, it would be smart to release either the iPod at the same price and have a clickwheel on the screen, or charge almost as much as the iPhone and have the features most people are describing. It's just simple economics, if you have two products that are almost the same, which one are you going to release? The one that is just like another one, (In this case the iPod is like the iPhone) and sell it for a lot less then the other (In this case the iPod being touch and selling at a much less price then the iPhone) price, or sell the two for almost the same amount of money? I know you have stated that the prices will be high, but, I think that we are forgetting that the iPod will need to stay in the competition to stay ahead. But, I guess it can leave the iPod Nano to that.

:D:D

I'm chuckling to myself, because you guys are trying to figure out whether the new iPod will be A, B, or C, while in the hidden crypts of Cupertino, option D is about to be unleashed!

don bagles to prove you know, an hour or two before the product is released could you post the specs here or pm them to someone. at least 20 minutes beforehand

Wow, we've been focusing on the iPod so much that we have been neglecting the iPod Nano. What are everybody's thoughts on it?

the iPod became the iPod Photo, then became the iPod video while the iPod nano became a small iPod photo. I think that as the iPod video becomes the iPod touch, the iPod nano will become a small iPod video.

iv just been sittin here reading all of this today, cause theres nothing else to do while im in the booming town of eden, nc for the weekend.
