Way fun to "Speculate" a.k.a. fight over who has the right idea of what the new iPod will look like.

Speak for yourself! I'm not fighting with anyone (ok I did have a snipe at Don earlier but he was asking for it haha), but in terms of design who cares who's right... it's all speculation!

I don't think the nano as we know it is going anywhere. Again, how many nano owners out there are thinking "you know, this thing would be really great if only I could watch "Lost" on it"? Not many, I'm guessing.

Doesnt mean, they would say no

That's why they would upgrade it, so that you would want to have LOST on it. But I think you are partially right, the iPod Nano seems to be great as-is. The only way to update it would be a bigger flash drive with up to like 15 gigs.

i dont really care about the nano, im just goin to shoot myself (not literally) if they dont release a non-iphone ipod touchscreen.

I would, but that's just me. If I want video on an iPod I'll go for one of the larger models. If the nano gets bigger it's going to lose any and all appeal it ever had for me, and I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way.

where does that leave room for the "fat-pod"

At the risk of repeating myself, the fatPod is probably going to replace the current iPod, with the touchscreen unit representing the new top-of-the-line.

And if it is the new nano then Apple has lost at least one potential sale, as I have been considering purchasing a nano sometime in the next six months. If they do bulk it up then I'd just as soon get a shuffle instead, and when my 3G dies I'm certainly not going to replace it with something flash-based.

Look what I found!

Site

I've seen this picture a few times before. It looks convincingly real, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the new iPods announced on Wednesday. I don't think we'll see any leaked photos of the "iPod Touch" until late tuesday/early wednesday, apple will want to keep their golden new iPod on lockdown.

so you dont believe in the iPod touch? they could squeeze the fat-pod in between the nano and the touch

so you dont believe in the iPod touch?

Read the post again.

The pics linked upthread look a lot more attractive in terms of size and proportions than the earlier pics. If they are sizing up the nano, I hope this'll be it. But would you look at that screen? WHY would you want to watch more than a minute or two of video on something that size? There's convenient and then there's just plain silly.

hmm. i still believe in the ipod touch.

it would be apple's worst decision if they didnt release a touch screen iPod on the 5th, yea some people would be happy with the fat-pod replacing the current video ipod, but 99% would be pissed off and offended

Reading comprehension has become a quaint notion of the past, apparently.

I know that Beatles are not likely, but it would make sense. Look at what you can buy on iTunes now. You can get every single song from the Beatles member's single albums (Except for George, if he did make a single album.). So, why not just sell the Beatles now, you probably are going to have to eventually, Apple.
