All I want is an iPod Touch....

And I am in the eastern time zone have class 10-11 and then 1-2 plus I have to go run right after 2 :( So I won't know until 5 and won't be able to order until like 5:01... haha

My store manager said he got a corporate note saying touch screen iPods will be arriving tomorrow at the store ... I really don't think he's the type that would read rumors, then again I can't imagine that Apple would ship the new iPods to stores before the keynote. Too bad I won't get a chance to see if it comes in first hand because I'll be on a business trip.

what store do you work at?

ONE MORE THING.... George Lucas Announcement

Predictions:

1. Bigger shuffles.

2. Fat video nanos (with a new name)

3. ipod touchscreen (16 & 32 gig flash models maybe a 100 gig HDD as well)
- possibly also a 4-5mp camera to be used as a digicam and DV camera

4. Current 5.5g will go end of line but will still be available until stocks dry up.

5. Big launch for Touchscreen games for new ipod touch & iphone - could be VERY interesting. Why no iphone games yet from apple? they were waiting on the new ipod.

6. Movie rentals - their time has finally come.

7. of course the beatles. maybe Merlin Manns joke about the yellow submarine ipod Touch will finally be a reality. Both ipod touch & beatles anouncements on same day so you never know... (maybe two models in different colours, Yellow submarine & strawberry fields). I would buy one in a heartbeat.

one more thing..... George Lucas walks on stage to announce that his new star wars live action 1 hour episodic series will be exclusivly distributed worldwide on itunes - $1.99 standard def, $2.99 high def. The moment will be regonised in history books as the beginning of the end for broadcast TV.

I have a few things to say. First of all, where did the rumors of the tablet Mac come up. I highly doubt that Apple is ready to do this, especially at a music event.

Second of all, if anybody remembers who Don Bagels was, he has exposed himself as being a liar at this blog. He was the person that "affirmed" our beliefs of a touch screen iPod. He has lied, and I am glad of the decision to ban him. Karma catches up. :)

Third, who wants to take bets on which songs will be on the top ten within the first hour of being on iTunes? Reply with your votes!:)

P.S. - I'm just taking a look at Apple's iPod page. The iPod won't be like that for long :'( .

Ah that is so sad :( but exciting tooof what is to come morning!:D I have had fun reading this thread all day today. So much input of what might come and what is illogical.

I think I wont sleep well either tonight. Except if i have a good dream of me dancing through a wheat field bounding across listening to a ipod touch!:p

THen again i probably will fall asleep tonight clutching my ipod listening to music dreaming of the morning.
Of course i am fortunate to have tomorrow off and will wake up in time just to read the live coverage online and maybe buy my new ipod!:D:apple:

Don't get my hopes up. :)

Anyway, I'm hoping for some new iPhone stuff, like ringtones or something. I'm sure there will be new iPods, but I don't like guessing about those, I like being surprised.

if that happend i would have one thing to say: "get your untalented (hasn't done anything good for like 20 years) dirty, money grubbing hands off the ipod lucas"

man, would this be a drag. i've had my 60gb vid maxed out for what seems like years... wait, it has been years! sadly i also use my ipod as a portable hard drive (one of the great things about an ipod) constantly for work also... which leaves even less room. seemed like a waste to pay $350 just to go to 80gb. so i wait. i know people have had problems, but i've had a gen1, gen2, gen3, and gen5. to this day, all of the hard drives work. i wouldn't write the hd off just yet. and until they've got flash drives up to capacity at a decent price, give me old faithful.
I just have to add my two cents. Ever since my $500 40G iPod broke after 14 months (i didn't buy the warranty, with one minor drop and a good case), I swore i would NEVER pay that much for a hard drive ever again. At first switching over to a 1Gig Nano was VERY difficult but quickly I became used to it. I have phases of listening to the same stuff over and over again, so i didn't really need all the space anyway. I LOVE the flash iPod. It gets knocked around and dropped and i've never had a problem with it.

I will be very disappointed if the iTouch is only a hard drive and priced around $500. And I'm afraid Wi-Fi may bring up the price. If you need to be in a hot spot to use the Wi-Fi, isn't that frustrating and a waste?

I would LOVE if they introduced a Widescreen for showing off your pics/viewing videos, Touchscreen because it's cool, forward/back buttons for active people or driving, GAMEPLAY, 30/60G, Flash because it's faster and not as fragile.

30G $350
60G $450

I can't wait for tomorrow like everyone else on here.:p

can't wait

my take on the "The Beat Goes On" announcement:

1) iPod touch - HDD based (up to 120 gig, priced between 350-450), touchscreen, NO wifi, but with blue tooth connectivity
2) New iPod Nano, up to 16 gig, click wheel, no video
3) iPod shuffle (red), same as current design otherwise
While I would love to see wifi on the iPod, I think they would not want to interfere with the iPhone market, which seems to be built more around interconnectivity (EDGE, 2.5G, wifi, etc.) I think blue tooth makes sense for computer, wireless ear phone, and ipod-ipod connectivity.

While I'm speculating, I might as well throw out my WAG that they will announce Bluetooth on Apple TV, allowing remote control functions from iPhone and iPod touch.

As with most people, I have no clue what's going to happen tomorrow, but I wanted to add my $0.02. Will know more tomorrow...

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere.

Does anyone remember this: http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0609cingulariphone.html ?

Before the official iPhone launch, Think Secret seemed to think it would be exclusive with Cingular for a relatively short time, and called for it to be available on other carriers in the second half of 2007.

There's been no official word from AT&T or Apple on the length of AT&T's exclusivity-- Just rumors that it might be as long as 5 years.

What if the arrangement was that AT&T would get the exclusive for a few months, with quiet rumblings of a 5 year exclusive. After all the nuts (us) switch to AT&T, it is made available to other carriers for those who can't switch (like, those from Vermont). In return for Apple playing along, AT&T gives Apple a kickback from iPhone users, and a bigger kickback from new iPhone customers.

This would explain the whole "unsubsidized phone still has an ETF" thing, as well.

Wishful thinking, I guess.

My predictions

iPod shuffle - Price lowered to $49.00, everything stays the same.

iPod Nano - Flash based, Shorter then existing Nano but a little bit wider, plays videos, music, photos and iPod games, 2.5 inch screen, new interface with coverflow. 5 new colors, 8GB - $149.00 12GB - $199.00 16GB - $249.00. Basically replacing the big iPods place in a smaller package. Obviously I'm believing the various leaks that have happened (interface, fat nano).

iPod - 3.5 inch multi-touch touchscreen, wi-fi on high end model, totally updated look (some design cues off of the iPhone), interface similar to iPhones ipod interface. Color scheme is back and silver, two models: 50GB - $299.00 100GB with wi-fi- $399.00

I also think iTunes 8 will be realesed.

I'm not so optimistic. As I have said, I have been leafing through the Macworld magazine from February which included an article on predictions of what would happen this year. It did say a version 8, but there is not much that I would add to iTunes right now. At least, nothing major..... Oh, and one more thing, if it is iTunes eight, it will have to be amazing, because not much could beat iTunes 7!:D

Seems reasonable, except for the 50GB model. 50GB is an oddball size-- 60 or 40 is more likely. Also, I've heard that 120GB 1.8" HDDs are becoming available in quantity. 60GB and 120GB models keep your "$100 more, double the space, plus wi-fi" dynamic.

I don't know about 120 GB, I think that the most Apple would shoot for is a 100 GB. But, I do have to agree that a 60 GB will be most likely.

LOL.

I think this is the way its going to be for big TV shows in the future (LOST, HEROES etc), where eventually it will be similar to the movie model (eg. paid admission in theatre/paid download, with broadcast on free-to-air TV much later).

Only mentioned Lucas as the example as I know the Live Action Star Wars series is actually in the works (and hopefully he will be to busy to actually direct episodes), and the fact he produces content independent of any studio or network, so is likely to be one of the first to jump on.

At the moment it is only independently produced podcasts that are anywhere near this model (hello TIKI BAR & ASK A NINJA - you know I would pay for them) The changeover has to happen sometime for mainstream shows, and now is a good time, especially with the soon to be ubiquitous Widescreen ipod & apple TV 2.0 (half the price please).

You're right mackiwi. If apple does release iTunes 8 maybe they could have a bigger focus on content like that.
