I think this Beatles launch is mostly directed to the late 40's to late 50's crowd. I am in my late 30's and really don't care much.

LoL Definitely not a special day to remember in my life! I was thinking they might announce all content was going to be served and stored from their cloud. THAT would have been new for the world. (insert privacy concerns here) I expect we will be there in the not too distant future.

As for the Beatles....the songs should be like 30 cents or something. It is pretty dated. But then again Apple sells the works of Bach, Mozart, and Pachelbel at the same price as today's latest hit.

So today was a dud, but please keep making awesome products and I will keep buying so long as the new stuff has value or use to me and family.

PS---Still waiting for next gen iPad with a camera. After being a customer for years I have learned to wait for at least the second iteration. That said I am dying to buy and will when there is a front facing camera.

Finally!

After many years of The Beatles catalog being out of print Apple has come to the rescue by selling digital tracks online. Now you can buy the entire $149 collection.

If only something like the beautifully packaged, printed and newly remastered uncompressed collection had been available at Amazon for $129 all this time.

Ah well, something like that would never happen, would it?

Apple's Hype Is Getting Ridiculous

1. Love Apple products
2. Love The Beatles

BUT I HATE THE APPLE HYPE MACHINE!!!!

and it is getting worse as the company continues its descent from a company run by engineers/geeks into a corporate cash cow........

and if I EVER hear the word "magical" again I will hurl.

People who think this is a relevant a worthwhile happening, announcement and milestone for iTunes, who are also educated and can appreciate the relevance of The Beatles and their presence on iTunes: 30-35 and older.

People who bash this news, and post ridiculous comments every 1.3 seconds, who have no real understanding of the relevance and furthermore think they know a lot more than they really do, somehow asserting that Michael Jackson or AC/DC are more important to music than The Beatles and make references to artists like Lady Gaga: 30-35 and younger.

The latter group. Learn something, then get back to us.

Are you sure about that not gonna fight but Michael owned them literally he purchased the hole song book as well as his own!

I'll have to agree with you on this one. The Beatles was more appealing to people during the time they were big. Michael Jackson has been appealing to people since the Jackson 5 came out in the early 70's until today. Many more generations of people were intrigued by Michael, not so much the Beatles more than the Woodstock crowd.

It's pretty remarkable that so many people care to comment that they don't care that The Beatles are now on iTunes ;)

just saw this one on Twitter (LOL)
Ugh, the Apple home page has been hacked, it just shows some hippy retards, probably GPL fanatics.

Bunch of kids in this thread.
Get over yourselves.

I'm glad Apple Corps and Apple finally settled their differences.

I guess never forget the day even the mac lovers on macrumors say Apple jumped the shark.

That was the stupidest announcement I'd ever heard. Things I would have never forgotten include (whether they are real/dream, good/bad, I want them or not, or whatever)

-A demo of lightpeak working on a MBP with multiple peripherals, and an announcement of a launch date and full industry/partner support and rollout, including windows.

-New macbook designs: clear? white andonized metal?

-All MBPs losing their discdrives and gaining SSDs with a minimal price bump

-Lion being launched REALLY early

-Displays that can go 3d at will, with manipulable technology like a kinect camera

-iTunes cloud (maybe)

-The deletion of Ping (oh man, that would be memorable!)

Adding a band to itunes, thats been around for 40 years and that everyone has the songs already? Maybe a big day for Steve. No one else missed a beat at work today. I actually had my hope up for a second though.

Why the hell would Apple announce any of that (except maybe Ping deletion) in a post on their Website? Announcing that you are the first online music store to get the most popular band of all time definitely is something that is perfect for a Website announcement. Especially since Steve Jobs loves The Beatles. :p

There has to be more to today's announcement than just The Beatles. There just has to be.
Why? :)

Why do people think that everything Apple does has to be tailor-made to please them?

[Folks, if you don't have the mental wherewithal to grasp any historical significance contained in today's event... fine. Go listen to eminem and kick your dog a few times. That'll make about as much sense as crying here in public does.]

Wow 24 pages real quick. I was going to read them, but then decided not to. The reason? I can guess all the responses.

Response #1: All Right!! Finally!
Response #2: Who Cares?!?
Response #3: If you are a Beatles fan you have the CDs already. Big Deal!
Response #4: No one under 30 years old cares about the Beatles.
Response #5: What no iOS 4.2 announcement?!?
Response #6: I took the day off of work/school for this?

etc,etc ;)

My take: Nice to have them in iTunes. Do I need them? Nope, have all the CDs. Nice for non-Beatle fans to get some tunes. Yes

This is huge

Do people here ever look at the top iTunes singles and album lists? It's made of mostly classic albums (and Taylor Swift). Most people I know who had large CD collections had those CD collections moved into boxes and their stereo's replaced by children toys. Now decades later they have small devices (computers, iPods, iPads and iPhones) which allow them to once again get the music they love. So they buy the albums again. I know families that buy the same "classic" album multiple times in iTunes, because each family member has their own iTunes account.

By the end of the year The Beatles will be dominating the iTunes charts and the numbers will prove that the iTunes release was bigger than the remastered CD release from last year.

Now if we can only get AC/DC and Bob Segar (who's catalog is out of print) onto iTunes....

Beatles Concert on Apple Homepage

YO! Was wondering if it was possible to download the Beatles-concert from apples homepage somehow? Without buying the box-set! hint hint ;)

-Rabble

To all those who don't understand the anger:

Apple posted a cryptic message saying "Tomorrow will never be the same". What would you think it is? We got excited because we thought there was going to be a big announcement. This is not a big announcement.

Does Best Buy make it an extremely big hype when they add CDs from legendary groups? No, they just issue a press release when they release it. They do not post cryptic messages.

Not everybody on this forum were alive when the Beetles were big, so this one flew over the vast majority of our heads. Is it good that the beetles are coming to iTunes? Yes, it's spectacular news. Did the marketing department screw up and not understand that your marketing has to be generally understood by the populous? Yes, they screwed up.

I'm sorry, no sale. I already have the Stereo Remastered box and that is something substantial. Something to own. Just downloading the digital versions spoils part of that fun. I would NEVER buy this set through iTunes. Now I have both.

So the beetles held out. But what about smaller lesser known bands with good recordings. ? What's the easiest way for them to get those songs onto iTunes?

Pretty much any band or musician can get their music into iTunes assuming they own all the rights.
