People have been riding this band for the past 40 years, it's time to move on.

Posted from someone who owns all their albums.

To all you lame complainers here with no life, if this news upsets you so much, why don't you post some links to some awesome announcements in the PC world? Enlighten us on something exciting about I.E 9.

And why does the Mac vs PC discussion get dragged into this? This has nothing to do with it

Oh and they didn't do this for Michael Jackson? are you out of your mind Apple. Michael Jackson was far more popular than the beatles. Michael Crushes the beatles like a bug (no pun intended)

The beatles actually wrote their own music and played instruments. jacko was no better than nsync and he was a child molester pos who deserved to die.

All I'm saying is that this is not a big deal. Anyone who appreciates music will not be buying these lossy tracks. They will get one of the numerous greatest hits album or the mono or stereo box sets and rip them as lossless. That is what I have done.

Maybe I'm an audio snob, but I'm only putting quality music (uncompressed or lossless) through my system. I have tried bit AIFF and ALAC and could not hear the difference. MP3 and AAC versus ALAC proved a difference, IMO.

Listen mp3 or Aac or lossless on macbook pro you don't ear the difference. if you have a good hi-fi system or a studio monitors the difference is huge!!

The problem is that in the 80's and 90's people have good hi-fi systems, listen to CD and Vinyl, today people have crap computer speakers and listen to mp3...this is not evolution!

Predictable AND Boring. Two words rarely mentioned in the context of Apple announcements.

Surprised this hasn't showed up at Amazon yet... they seem to have a knack for aping nearly everything Apple does on iTunes.

To whoever said the Beatles have no "heart" in their music or whatever--have you ever even HEARD Oh Darling, or...ok screw it anything they made starting with Help!? And before that they were still cemented as pop geniuses. George essentially popularized the power chord (umm, HELLO AC/DC...their brand of rock would be NOWHERE without George) but was still a fantastic guitarist in jazz-terms when he needed to be, and Ringo was the first drummer to popularize keeping time on the hi-hats...HELLO EVERY BAND SINCE THE BEATLES EVER. Plus, just seriously stop and think for a second about how many songs of theirs every single one of you knows. Honestly you all. Get a clue.

Who would have thought so many people's day would be ruined by this. Seriously, if this is the only thing you have to complain about- you are either a f**cking loser or you have a very cushy life. It's not like they announced that the iPhone line is going to be discontinued....relax!

OMG!!!! The iPhone line is going to be discontinued!!!!!!!! Tell everyone you know!!!

Good Lord! You know who are freaking out about this? People WAY to invested in what Apple's going to announce. I like Apple, but I didn't expect anything they announced today to change the world. Now, who is the one following Apple a bit too closely, me or you?

Not really.... I am interested in getting the new ios 4.2 and excited about the hype Apple made surrounding something "I will never forget". Then this?? Seriously.... I felt like I took the bait... shame on me actually.

Maybe if we weren't waiting around for the other "Big Announcement" in November I would get less frustrated... but as for now, I am just venting for being a fool. ;)

yay! Beatles had 50 yrs time to achieve this... they are about 20 yrs ahead of ac/dc.

AC/DC has also released albums as recently as 2008 while The Beatles did all their work in a period of 7 years. Impressive, no?

Also, The Beatles managed 545 million sales by 1972, nine years after their first album released. AC/DC has sold about 200 million albums since they formed.

All the speculation and fanfare just for this? I for one could care less if the Beatles never got to iTunes.

I guarantee that the beatles will fill the top charts for albums and songs by the end of the week. They might even be number 1 again. That just shows you how huge Apple and iTunes have become.

Man, what a whine-fest.

Remember: Apple just posted a teaser ad in iTunes -- it's all of you who blew it out of proportion. I think they did the same thing for Ke$ha...

Oh yeah, here's another thing: The numerous posts suggesting that everyone who wants the Beatles already has the beatles: just think for a few seconds before you post something like. By that logic, no one should sell Beatles music -- or anything else that's been out for a while.

There's no point anyone downloading The Beatles anyway. You won't be able to hear them over the sound of stamping feet and toys being thrown.

It's truly amazing the way people have worked themselves up about this. It's called marketing, and it is working. The story is second most read on the BBC website, only topped by a story which is almost unbeatable at the moment.

The way people are talking, it's as if Apple pulled all the iOS4.2 development team off of that to work on the Beatles announcement.

The marketing was a little over the top (as all effective marketing is). It's certainly got people talking about it though, hasn't it.

Given what they had to work with (old music that many people already own), this could go down as a particularly notable and efficient marketing campaign. They have caused all this discussion by changing one web page.

As for those that aren't interested, has your Mac stopped working? Is your iPhone less use now? I didn't think so. Just move on and wait for the next thing that will benefit you. I promise not to moan if it doesn't interest me.
