I don't think you're look at this the right way. It's not about venting, come on, get real about it. The people posting negative comments are here only to piss people off that they consider to be "Apple fanboys". Why post such angry comments about a company that has done absolutely nothing to these people other than advertise on their own website about a special announcement from iTunes within 24hrs. Nobody's time was wasted unless they did an "All-Nighter" waiting for any further rumors, and if that's the case they are the ones that are lame for doing so.

If people weren't excited after the announcement all they had to post here was "Oh, well I expected more from Apple, oh The Beatles? Not for me" No reason to post such hate comments (such as, "I will never buy another Apple product, BLAH BLAH BLAH") other than to intentionally piss people off here and you know this for truth.

Well here is another angle... you can't deny that when you get something dangled over you and you go for it only to be psycehd that people will get emotional over that. This is a truth too.

Not sure if anyone has an older sibling... but I remember my brother holding my favorite piece of candy in front of me while eating and say in a nice voice "do you want some" extending his hand. Of course me, eyeballing the candy would say "yes" and reach out... then my brother would pull his hand away to fast and throw it in his mouth and say "psych". Now that would happen numerous times and me being a young fellow would always think, this time he seems sincere and I would get juked.

So that story above let's people understand that people get frustrated with those type of tactics. So I kind of felt like that with this.

Anyhow, I am about done letting off my childish emotion.lol. So tomorrow is another day and I am still waiting for ios 4.2 to update on my iPad. Hurry up Apple and stop playing games. :D

If one truly saw a difference in having lossless files, then I don't understand why one would care about iTunes at all. I'm sure that person would buy Vinyl/CD (depending on their acoustical proclivities) and lovingly rip them into the lossless format of their choice. For that person, iTunes is a toy for the masses and not a serious way to build an audio collection.

Simply because digital downloads are the future and I would be the first to ditch completely CD for it if that offered lossless 16 if not 24 bit download files, like some great sites do. But obviously they're not as big as iTunes is!

So exciting. I'm estatic. Best Apple announcement since Ping.

I'm guess I'm glad Stevey is happy. He does love them.

Actually, Apple was right, you will never forget this day. The day that underserved hype reached an all new, ridiculous level.

So I take your tone that I need to agree that this was a good thing or take my business elsewhere and buy something else?? Seriously...No need for that... I have many Apple products that I enjoy. So I will continue with this and make a smart consumer choice based on my needs for devices.

Will I call something cheesy or lame on a chat board? Yes, I will continue to do this because I have an opinion like the rest and just because I like Apple products, it does not mean I need to like everything they say or do. If anything that would be an indicator of intelligence as oppose to taste in music, such as the Beatles.

I just thought it was cheap for Apple to do this based on the hype surrounding ios 4.2 and everyone hitting their site looking for the release etc... It was a cheap shot imo....but it is just my opinion. :D

I actually do respect your opinion and right to a voice. As I would expect you do mine. Not everything in mine post was a direct response to your quote. I think by reading it, that is fairly obvious.

Nor do I think everyone need agree with what Apple does. I simply am pointing out that people are getting too upset at their disappointed expectations and that many posters are younger, uneducated, me-generation with an attitude as usual. All that said,

Most people who buy Apple products, as MR is a small slice of the gotta keep current have Rev. A products, don't even update their devices immediately upon software release etc. Why does Apple still have the 3GS at $99, because for a lot of people, that's a great deal on an iPhone. They don't get dazzled by iP4 specs. So, bringing The Beatles to iTunes is more significant for the world's #1 music retailer, than say a 4.2 software release, or a .x incremental upgrade of anything. Maybe not to most MR regulars but certainly to most consumers.

BTW Apple, while I may understand it, I think I'm losing more and more respect for your company and products. After being slugged with a $5500 roaming fee on 200mb of data for when I took my girlfriend who is from a very poor family in the 3rd world nation of the Philippines and proposed to her. How rude to be slugged with an extortionist roaming fee and not only that, that $5500 roaming fee could pay for her 5 sisters' education right through University graduation.

Shame on you Steve Jobs!!!

Why is it Apples problem that you do not understand how roaming charges work. I know that the whole concept of roaming charges is a new thing. We've only had them since the advent of the mobile phone!

And by the way the roaming fee is not between you and Apple but between you and your carrier. Apple is not a carrier.

Wow it must be nice to take your girlfriend on a vacation to propose to her. Four years of college is only $1,100 in the Philippines.

You really should grow up and not blame others for your own mistakes.

Utter and complete hogwash. They didn't hype this more than their own products. They hardly hyped it at all. They devoted a graphic on their Web site to it for less than 24 hours. Anyone who classifies that as a big buildup or an example of an over exuberant hype machine in action is nothing short of delusional.

Except that this isn't just ANY tech company, it's Apple. They are notoriously secretive and anytime they DO update the website, no matter how small, it usually gets reported on tech blogs around the globe. To imply "a day you'll never forget" for this announcement is just ridiculous.

Also, there's no need to be so obtuse. Just imagine if Microsoft or HP pulled something like this... I wonder if you'd be so forgiving then.

It amazes that so many seem pissy at Apple for promoting this upfront as something special. It is a big deal and you all have 364 other days for an iPad that's also a toilet seat or something. If Apple really wanted to make a splash they could have done one of their live presentations. Say at Letterman's Ed Sullivan Theater and had Paul and Ringo come out. You got to promote these things and actually this is one of Apples smaller upfront pushes. Now all the TV and online ads will arrive for the Holiday Season

Now update the god aweful earphones..

I am cool with Apple blowing The whole Beatle launch out of proportion. Now if Apple is so SERIOUS about music.... replace the god aweful white earphones that come with every device so people can actually appreciate this music!

Being someone that recognizes Apple's "over-hype" in many things they do and say, to be honest I don't see it here. It was stated as an iTunes announcement. They did NOT hold a live event nor take down the site. I think it's being played just about right. Finally bring the Beatles into the fold has been a long battle for Jobs and Company, so you can understand some fanfare for achieving that goal. The marketing significance of this is big, sales will be substantial so there being ads promoting their arrival to iTunes is expected.

I think most people recognize the significance for Apple, Jobs and to a lesser extent the consumer. But here in our little "Mac Bubble" we have those not only disappointed but upset over this announcement... for what? Because something they wanted wasn't released? What a bunch of whiners we've become, seriously. It's not as if Apple can't do more than one thing at a time. This is about the Beatles, that's it, great, congratulations to Steve and Apple for reaching that long-overdue goal.

As for those disappointed, your day will come soon, but today isn't it (or it could very well yet be). Simple as that. No need to crap on a good thing just because it's not what you were hoping for like a spoiled brat.

IMHO :)

I actually woke up early, and I immediately felt stupid for doing so. There is absolutely no way they would do iTunes streaming without a full on press announcement.

That said, I hope the rumors caused someone at MS to skip a few heartbeats. Hopefully MS will get Zune working on devices that people actually use now to try and cut Apple off at the pass.

Clearly, an entire generation has reinterpreted The Beatles' message as "All You Need is HATE". Why don't you all shut your ****ing mouths, open your ears and your narrow little minds, and LEARN something!

I'm not sure about his tone, but mine suggests that you get a dictionary and look up the word hype. And then use it properly in sentences.

LOL, 650 is nothing. These negative morons here think they are gonna bring down Apple by posting negative stuff. Wait until the sales figures are put out about the Beatles. There will be millions of iTunes downloads for the Beatles collection vs. the lame 650 negative comments. Let them keep crying. :D

The Irony of your Signature speaks volumes.

Needs repeating -- I think it's a good analogy. It's really lame of Apple to dangle an announcement about something "life changing" in front of our faces, only for it to be something so anti-climatic. It's simply not that big a deal.

For starters they called The Beatles, not the Beetles.

You do not consider what they did a press release? Then what was it? The first created a splash page to drum up some interest and then the next day they dropped the announcement. If that's not a press release then what is?

When The Beatles remastered CD's were released last year there was quite a bit of fanfare. Best Buy and other stores promoted it heavily with in-store displays, print ads and TV ads.

In fact, the remastered CD's helped to keep the struggling CD sales up during the holiday season.

People who are angered by this are just ignorant to the value of having The Beatles on iTunes, the power of Apple's advertising, how promotion is done in the 21 century and how great and influential The Beatles still are.

And for those wondering how well classic albums sell, take a look at the iTunes charts:

93: Pink Floyd - The Wall (released 1979)
123: Bob Marley - Legend (released 1984)
149: Creedance Clearwater Revival - Greatest Hits (released 1976)
173: Moulin Rouge Soundtrack (released 2001)
200: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (1973)

There are even a couple of different Billy Joel Greatest Hits. These along with The Beatles albums are all albums that just don't leave the top 500 charts. People buy them over and over again and in most cases if you walk into a Walmart, Target or Best Buy they will be in their shrinking music departments. For one reason and one reason only, people buy them over and over again, generation after generation.

Dark Side of the Moon remained on the Billboard top 200 longer than any album in history, from 1973 to 1988 some 741 weeks.

What day is today?

- The day Apple embarrassed themselves on an international level?

- The day Apple let down millions of people with the biggest dud in history?

- The day millions decided to not bother getting excited about Apple hype because they expect Apple to under-deliver?

What day is today?

I forget.
