Another Apple failure. No one will but The Beatles online. All their fans already have the albums.

iTMS Top Albums

Abbey Road #14
Boxed Set #16
White Album #17
Sgt. Pepper #19
Blue #23
Rubber Soul #25 and it goes on and on.

It is also worth repeating that the Beatles were #3 in US Album sales in 2009...

Just pointing out that my prediction from yesterday that The Beatles would dominate iTunes sales charts is coming true even faster than I thought.

Oh, wow, exclusive into 2011! That's AT LEAST 6 weeks of exclusivity! Great negotiating, Apple!

Lol I've never seen an announcement so universally negged down on macrumors. It's hilarious. That said, you've only really got yourselves to blame. Yes, they were a little over the top, but to get that excited?

My life is definitely the same as it was before this announcement, though :)

This was a "personal thing" Mr. Jobs needed to do... Let him have it and move on people.... sheeeesh.

The Beatles are one of the most important evolutions in music history...

If you want to buy the Beatles on iTunes - do

If not - don't

This is deep stuff:

He roller-coaster he got early warning
He got muddy water he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard to see
"Come together right now over - STEVE"

918 Negatives.

I think the common-sense folks have it.

Apple apologists: put down your keyboards. You cannot win this one.

To be excited about the remastered Beatles material and then to get it at iPod quality is just nuts. A person who can't fit a few more CDs into their household needs to take a careful look at themselves.

You're confusing a number of issues here. Digital download doesn't have to equate to "iPod quality". And choosing what one holds physical media for doesn't require psychoanalysis.

In my case, I have about 1800 CDs and a significant amount of vinyl. I stopped buying physical media for things I can purchase in lossless digital download form. Why? It takes up less space, and I like to keep it on a media server for convenience anyway.

I still pick up the occasional SACD for something I'm particularly enthusiastic about, such as a Karajan or Haitink performance.

You can say the exact same thing about any and every band on iTunes. Therefore your post is little more than a troll IMO.
it's different if you buy just 1 or 2 songs at a time. but if you are a HUGE beatles fan, why pay more to get a digital copy from apple when you can get the box set cheaper?

The same reason people buy the entire catalogue of countless other artists on iTunes every day of the week.

Honestly if anyone liked the Beatles as much as to purchase their songs on iTunes, they would have gotten the songs through other means way before now.

Does Apple honestly think they're the only place to get music?

exactly! and if you are THAT big of a beatles fan you'd want to have the BOX set.

I'm 39. Not a big Beatles fan. My dad loves it. It's more his generation. But I am still old enough to get the relevance and not mistakenly think nor claim that Michael Jackson was bigger. Sure on a site like this that has been taken over by 15 year olds, it is going to go right over their heads. I got that. What is probably pissing people off the most is that they have come to expect huge news from Apple, iPhones, iTunes and App Stores, iPads, etc. Steve's One More Things most likely make this feel like a let down.

News flash. They didn't have a media event. Talk about the state of Mac, iTS, iPhone and iPad sales, and then say today we are introducing the Beatles catalog on iTunes. Nope nope, nopety nope. They told everyone to check Apple.com and iTunes today at x time and we did. Got your attention, now you know.

If you feel duped, feel free to boycott Apple products. I certainly won't care.

I LOVE your post. You also have an awesome signature line.

Look at this from the perspective of those outside the Mac-techie world: this story is now front page news on most of the world's major news sites; if it had been about an iTunes cloud/streaming service, wireless iOS syncing or any of the other things people were expecting, do you think it would be receiving the same level of media coverage/interest?

Maybe it is bigger in the 'real' world than it is in ours?
